Hey Guys
Just looking at a pic of Shibuya's bike on a poster. Nozaki's seens to look pretty stock other than the (off the shelf) racing waterpump. Shibuya's not only has a different WP housing again but has some form of alloy tube about 45mm round and 100mm long mounted between the tank and the top of the crankcase. Any body got any ideas????? I don't think it is a toolkit

When I used to build headers we used engine heat to dictate pipe length for tuning. When you run the engine at the desired rev range (what it was cammed and tuned to) the pipes get blue spots (mild steel exhaust tubing). Then we cut the pipes at that length and that was where the collectors went. It truely was "tuned headers". Trouble was if you changed cam it all went out the window. Slightly off topic but it does show how heat varies along the exhaust depending on engine tune and revs.

Downunder we have a lot of cars that run on LPG or petrol (dual fuel) At one time I left the temp gauge sender (capillary type) sitting on one of the exhaust manifolds of my V8 pick up and drove it for weeks. I know this is not very scientific but..........when the motor was running on LPG the manifold temp was much lower than when on petrol (LPG also reduces power output by about 15%). I can't remember the difference but it was significant. The point is, the type of fuel, octane content or maybe even premix 2t fuel might have an impact on exhaust temps
But good luck it is interesting reading.

Does this mean "Nappysan" is not the answer to my problems??????
I thought the smell in my helmet was bad enough to keep anything except me out of it

If this was an election I'd demand a recount
Interesting results.......maybe same idea with a sound level meter would answer the "it's too loud" question too.
Nice job.

If you have the late model billet pegs why swap???? If they get blunt file them sharp, I have seen it done in the WTC pits seems to be a common task. I like them blunt they take less skin off that way!!!!!

Excuse me Charlie, snap ring?????? The SY uses tried and tested heavy duty stuff! You know a very big nut and a washer you beat the S%^t out of with a hammer like the old Montesa's before Honda gobbled them up.
I would say stick with the 10, the 12 is for roadracing or the freeway! As a matter of fact I want a 9 tooth front so I can slow it down even further for the really tight stuff. With 4 bottom gears and a very tall 6th you can afford to have a very low first and mainly use 2nd, 3rd & 4th. Don't worry about gearing affecting wheel spin, that is a throttle control issue on the SY because it will spin in any gear but 6th if you give it a fist full.

That's what happened to me.....I was happy with my old Sherco (and so was the wife who holds the purse strings) until I rode the SY! As you can see I not only fell in love with it but I decided to become the local agent. I assembled both my bikes yesterday and had a short ride. The SY 250 is nothing short of amazing! It pulls like a tractor in 4th from almost no revs and has no power band anywhere just power everywhere. Can't have another ride today............it is Snowing here for the first time since 1983 and not the best of days to play outside!!! I like the 175 too it is a great fun bike but I think the wife is going to steal it from me! Looks like I'll have to order more stock as I think all I have sell now is a smile

That's nothin, one of our Aussie riders (well known in UK) tried to audition for the latest "George of the Jungle" movie mid section at the last Aus Titles (unfortunately captured on film too). The rider was last seen clinging to a tree about 4' off the ground claiming he hadn't 5'd because the bike cleared the section and his feet weren't touching the ground!
Think his Beta must have watched the beta version of earlier "Balancing Act" vids.

You could be right......it could be Dupont.......although after seeing Raga do the no forks nothing would suprise me!!!

Not sure the tattoos and piercings are in anymore in FMX. Seems the boys there are making good money now and the new crop of riders are a bit tamer!! They are doing their practice jums into foam pits now so they don't get hurt! Sorry to hear about the Team Wombat dental problem.....must be tough when you all just eat n leaves
This guy Dupont rocks I want him for a birthday party!!!!

I was of the thinking that the reason the rear is tubeless is to stop pinching at very low pressure. If you have a tube and it gets sandwiched between the tyre and the rim going over a sharp ledge the tube punctures.
As far as slip goes I have always run two locks on both front and rear wheels on my Monty 360H7. Even at 20psi I found it impossible to keep nipples in the front. With two bead locks you can ride flat and still not have the tyre slip so I don't think tubeless makes much difference re. slip.

In the state I live in the main dealers are GG and Beta so there wasn't too many Scorpa's around. I had been riding a '00 250 Sherco and had tested the new Sherco 250 and didn't feel like it offered much more than I had for the cost of stepping up. Then the Scorpa importer did a demo day trials school here early this year and I rode the 125 and 05 250. After only a few minutes I was enjoying the 125 4t but in love with the 250. Later that day I was offered the chance to be the local dealer........quess what....I took it.
Even though I have been sidelined for 14 weeks after dislocating my shoulder I have been chaffing at the bit to get back on a bike. This week I have a 04 250 and a new 175 arriving and I can't wait. Reading the above posts only enforces what I have heard here in Australia about build quality and broad engine power. And don't thing they are are only clubman bikes....2003 Aus Champ rode a sy 250 and NZ has a pretty tidy championship contender too that rides a Scorpa.

"Customer Demo Bike"
One thing to keep in mind, there is a big differnce between a demo that gets a few try-outs by prospective buyers and a bike that has been tested by bike mags and motoring writers. Ain't no way I would turn a bike mag loose on one of my bikes! If your bike had been leant to out for a test over a weekend it could explain the engine problem. Some nice person might have drowned it or tried it out with out the air filter to see if gave it more power, you never know.
Customer Demo = Customer Demo and should be like new
Test Bike = Used Bike that may have never been properly run in
It might not have been the fault of the bike at all!!!

Back in my younger days I learnt to do sit down wheelies on a Honda XL 100 and in more recent times a 348 Monty trail. If you can get your hands on a bike with a seat it makes life much easier. The simple way to get it right for a novice is to put the bike into first, plant both feet on the ground and lift the front. Once you are moving hang on with your legs and drag your feet on the ground. This way you learn balance and thottle control without going over backwards. Steering is done by putting one foot down harder and leaning that way.
As time progresses you start putting your feet on the pegs. Once mastered in first or second gear you soon get the hang of it. I used to pick the wheel up un the old XL100 in first, change into second and finally 3rd and hold it there 1/2 a kilometre. I then moved over to road bikes except I used to bounce down on the seat at the end of a 2nd gear burnout to lift the front then kick into 3rd. Might be a different way than a trials rider learns but it worked for me!

I can't see what all the fuss is about??
I'm not a great one for fiddling with a motor for the hell of it. My last ATV, a HONDA TRX300 lasted 11 years on only one oil change. Can anyone tell me if they have a filter??? That poor old work horse towed trailers, chased sheep (I said it chased sheep), barrel rolled and flipped down a F*&^ing big hill and worked hard for 1,000hrs and 10,000km. Ok it was stuffed at the end but that was not the lack of oil changes or piston replacement it was because all the steel bolts had welded themselves into the alloy.
Too much maintenance only rounds off nuts, strips threads and makes the wife complain you're always playing with your toys and not inside listening to her constructive views! Time to make up your mind..........is it the bike that needs your time or the wife?????
It must be the air in Australia that does it?????

Hey Guys
I will be taking delivery of one of the first two 175's to come to Australia this week. I twill be interesting to see if the ring problem is still a problem. But maybe you guys in UK have just got the 007 version with the smoke screen to stop observers seeing you dab...........damn I'd pay more for that!

I too can remember when Roger DeCosta was doing cross ups and not just a MX team manager. I grew up with pictures of Sammy M in Australasian Dirt Bike Mag. Just not sure if he was wearing a kilt and a tartan cap a the time......... Remember those old Bell full face helmets??? Looked like you were wearing an egg!
But still Raga, lampkin, fuji Gas and of course Nozaki amongst others ain't too bad to watch. Trouble is these days bikes are are a dirty word to the stick in the mud lifestylers in ths country. Just as well we have our memories!

I am only just learnin to spread my legs after 25 years, as if I would get much out of making a bike look pretty.
r2w must have the same problem as me!!!!! I wear through stickers, paint, moulded plastic and even metal!!!!!
This is what my poor old Honda looked like only 12 months old!!! Anybody else had on of these new in 1978 (XL 100) the closest I could buy to to a TL 125 at the time

I haven't made up my mind exactly what I am going to ride yet but in about a week I think I will have a 2004 SY250 and a 175 in stock when I commence trading as the Victorian Scorpa dealer. While I don't intend putting the 175 up as a demo I will give it a run through my private trials area so I know the product well. Like you I carry a healthy bit of ballast to give me more traction so I will be able to give you a Scorpa biased but otherwise unbiased opinion. I think there is great scope for the little 4t as a clubman C Grade bike and also a fun trail machine. I can't wait to get one here and start selling them to the WR250 boys in the forest when they find out what a trials bike does on big hills and the logs they can't ride over.

Hi G4321
I'm not sure how to describe the CB125T but let's face it......the footpegs didn't fold up so you can't really call it a racer???? On the other hand I used to chase 750's on it but had to put my feet on the rear indicaters to get over 150kmh
11,000km's on mine and it was spraying oil out of every gasket, somehow I think it is unlikely to be a problem with a Scorpa but it does show you can only flog a pony so much after that you need a horse!

Keep in mind most manufactures try to make a middle of the road type of thing when selling to the general public. Not all Subaru Impeza STi's are rally cars you know!!!
So Andy has one huh.....(added much later...grin)
As far as pulling out all the baffles, I'm of the thought "WHY" rather than "Why not?". Over the years I've played with many exhaust systems and seen many different outcomes. I have even stuck 4 hot dogs (small straight thru mufflers) on a Lambo Contach only to hear it backfire on every gear change and try to set fire to the front of cars at the lights.
Half the time a louder system makes you use less thottle and revs than a quiet one. Some engines respond to "X" amount of back pressure and others don't, it comes down to how well they breathe. These little motors such air through a key hole, process it with a cam with almost no lobes and pass wind through a pee shooter. That is what makes them tame and trialsable. In 1978 Honda made the CB125T twin commuter bike with twin 18mm carbs and a cam that would let it rev to 16k (the Tacho finished at 13k but the needle went to "RPM") I know I owned one. Trouble was it had a shelf life like milk if you used the rev's. If you want more go than a 125 has to offer move up to a 200 or a 250.
