    sherpa footpegs

Hi woody can i be cheeky and ask for a photo of the foot peg relocation on your bike/s Thank.
  2. Cheers guys, After what andy mentioned i poked about and found it has 4 gears and is a d7. I am usually seen on a bultaco is it frowned upon to use later parts to build up a bike as i have a few bultaco bits knocking around.
  3. Hi guys, I was helping my dad clear out one of his garages and in the corner lurking behind an enfield was a old BSA bantam rolling chasis, under a cloth there was an engine and other odds and sods looks like maybe 90% of the bike present. It is obviously a road bike and it is of the twinshock era rather then ridgid. My question is what work and cost would it take to make this basket case into a decent trials machine? Is it even worth the effort of should i do it back up into a road bike and flog it? If i could.convert it i would keep it but i dont have a road license.

I ride some of the same trials as mr bliss and i am taller then he is. some of the bikes he has built are a wonder to behold. I have seen his pre 65 creations weigh less then a beta rev. Mr Bliss is a very cleaver man indeed with his cotswolds.

Fair enough gents but a lighter bike is much easier to pick up. especially when you bin it as often as me

    Spindle

I have seen the bike which steve saunders won last years scottish on. I think that had hollow spindles. may not of been ali though. which type/grade of ali can you use as it must be pretty strong. In the ideal world i guess titanium is the ideal material but who has a bank account that big?
  11. Surprised with that much modification that the top yoke was left alon.

Hi guys, I have noticed that more and more twinshock and pre 65 bikes now have hollow ali spindles. where would you find theese or are they home made? Cheers

  14. Hey guys. I was just wondering which carb is the best on a 159? I have always used an Amal mk 2 just because that what my dad used. I know mikuni is now popular as is delloreto. Why are bings not so popular?
  15. Hi gents, I have zero engineering skills and was wondering how the hell do you check that the frame does not have a twist in it? I have no idea how to build a jig or what i should be looking for. If any of you know off a simple way of checking this please enlighten as it will save me a few quid by not sending the frame away. Many thanks james

    Small Jobs.

HI guys, Does any one know of an engineer in the bristol area who would take on small jobs. I am on about silly small jobs that you can do at home with a lathe and a piller drill. the problem is that i have never used a lathe and i have not god the money to buy a decent one. All i need is the odd bush to be made or a spacer rather then 20 odd washers. Whilst i am on the topic how does one learn to use such equipment, I know you gents more then likely learnt at school however i am of the generation where we had to learn sewing and cookery at school rather then skills that are usefull in life. ( just to let you know i could cook a fry up before school taught me how to bake fairy cakes) cheers bulto boy
  17. I have done this too my 159 just by welding some brackets as woody mentioned above, i have since changed back as i race classic motorcross and i was too used to the right side. since changing back i realise how spongy the rear brake felt, the brakes worked but with the cable felt so insensitive and had no real feel. If your set on getting the brake lever on the right side i would look at getting a different rear wheel set up
  18. woody has once again come up trumps, Quite like the black one but the yellow/gold is not quite right, dare i say it the 340 of woodys looks the muts nuts.
  19. Hey hey Just for my amusment really but can you guys put up some pics of your sherpas that are NOT the standard red or blue. I am finally building up my project taco and will be sending the frame off for a dip in an acid bath soon but i am unsure what colure to paint it. I have seen a nice black and white taco which may copy but i am still looking for ideas and inspiration. Before any one moans i do have a sherpa in original colours which will be refreshened once i have this project built Many thanks James
  20. Hi gents, my front brake is in need of a new liner, had a steel one put in the back last year, which is a massive impovment but some one i was talking to at a recent trial suggested cast iron was better for braking performance and only weight a cat wisker more. What do you guys think? james
  21. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bultaco-198b-250cc-Vazquez-Trials-Bike-/260998161159?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item3cc4b3e307 Here is one well worth the money if it is what it says it is. (looks like it to me)
  22. Twinshockdude is right, the engine depends on the oil in the petrol to lubricate itself. not enough oil means seized engine to much oil means a bit of smoke and an oiled up plug.........start rich
  23. by vacum leak do you mean sucking in air via the carb? or should i be looking into taking the engine to bits?
