  1. i have just bought a 199A frame of ebay with the intent having a long term profect to keep me out of the pub. Any advice? i have read a lot about different mods some sound good but others are plain wacky E.G front forks out of a sherco being fitted is just stupid Reading your post Big john has got me wondering how far you can take the bultaco frame? this is my first propper build bing a nipper at the age of 21 so i dont know what really can be done? i like the idea of modern forks as my m159's are rubbish even after a service and money being spent. as for the foot rest location being changed sounds good as i am 6'5"
  2. any idea where i can find results for the uk round?
  3. its got to be said that footpegs on a sherpa are not the best, especially compared to the ones on any mono can any one tell me are there moderen pegs that will go straight onto my 76 sherpa T model 159, or do i need to to get some one to weld new brackets on etc etc if there are not any you can get off the shelf i wonder if bultaco uk would think about developing some as this is a sensible upgrade which many people would benifit form?
  4. do you think such bikes will ever be made??
  5. the only reason i knew about the euro cup this year is because i always ride golden valley. how come i have not seen much of it in the TMX.
  6. rode the bath classic today, my first ride for a number of months due to work and uni etc etc, a few really nice bultacos there today and to my amazment i rode like an old dear so maybe i dont need a special, i think time riding would be a much better investment
  7. hmm very interesting woody you seem to know a lot about a lot. the clutch sounds like a wisper i heard not so long ago about trick plates made down under in oz dunno how true that is i think i am just going to have to sit there and spend quality time on the bike and do a bit of trial and error to see what comes of an ambitious project the girlfriend is going to love me spending so much quality time in the garage
  8. alot of you dont seem to like the bultacos so much. i bought one when i was 19 after a cota 247 which was terrible but a forgiving bike to learn on and a beamish which is cramped when your 6 foot 6. first time i rode the taco i won my classnow 21 and still got the taco, a 1976 325 and i love it totally reliable thanks to bultaco uk's electronic ignition and amal carb bags of torque and very good at taking the abuse i give it....by that i mean how often i crash. in the club i ride in i am often riding against the creater of the cotswold bikes and a couple of very good riders on a very trick yam majsty and a few other specials. i am considering trying to trick up a taco to see if i can bounce it about like they do on there bikes. some call trick twinshocks cheating, however when i saw the same rider whom usually bounces a cotswold bsa about as if he is not subjected to the laws of gravity do the same on a cast iron pre 65 ariel i learnt its more about the rider then the bike, as for the best twinshock..... for the likes of me and many others its not a case of which is the best but more to do with what you are lucky enough to have in the garage and for me its a pretty beaten up bultaco like some has already said its its all about having fun
  9. i have read about el puma in a few forums. i cant afford to go to spain and buy one of his bikes hence i want to build one over time, any idea on what he does to the bikes??? also any webites in english about this guy as i cant speak the lingo i am afraid
  10. sounds like a new project to look into, hmmm better get on to ebay and find a bike to chop about
  11. is any one able to tell me the specs of vestys bike, is it possible to make a modern replica or a trick bike from a stock bultaco?

    Modern Mods?

my bike is already on its max rebore, will the barrel be able to have that much taken out? where would i find the piston to fit this? i like the idea of the wider pegs that is a must i think. you mentioned falcon shocks too what is the big thin with them? people seem to love or hate them and i have only just come across them whats the fuss about? and whats special about sammy's exhast system?
  14. i used to have a cota 247 and also tried to find an electronic ignition......i found a lot of people with useless advice and the man who was ment to be developing a electronic ignition never completed it. i did however come across a man who made his own and it sounded like a lot of work with miling new fly wheels and thats sort i only saw him the once dunno what happened to him or what happend to the system. the man who may know is a guy called dave renham who runs bultaco uk he has now however created in motion which covers twinshocks of all makes here is the contact info Tel: 01784 440033 Fax: 01784 440048 info@inmotiontrials.com and a link to the web site http://www.inmotiontrials.com/ good luck mate

    Modern Mods?

hmm sounds like a good thing this reed valve although my dad did a top end rebuild a while back and it is plenty responsive although i think it could do with the carb being ceaned again. the electronic ignition......well put it this way i bought it with the amal carb as my dad hates bing when i bought the bike 3 years ago and i have never needed to replace the plug or anything and it still starts 2nd kick...well it did untill last weekend when it sarted making rattling noises......think its time for that botom end rebuild

    Modern Mods?

i have just stumbled over trials central and realise you guys know a lot more then me. i have ridden twinshocks in local clubs since i was 15 and now being 20 i have finally started to get ok at riding i can even do a few tricks the mono boys love to show off. i am asking for general advice and opinions on mods for my 325 sherpa t butaco, to date it has electronic ignition from bultaco uk which s the best money i have ever spent on it. mark 2 amal carb and some decent bars. is it possible to get some disk brakes? better forks maybe of the mono type? and whats all the fuss with falcon shocks? can you get lighter wheels? any other mods you can think of i want to do. i have another bultaco which is going to stay original for when i want to do classic trails and have to follow the rules on bike spec however i want to make a very trick bultaco and be able to put a bultaco in the tmx's "take a look" page which will make a change to yet another modern crosser with fancie plastics cheers
