  1. must be in the cumbrian air. Well there are some stubern know it alls though!!!
  2. sorry neonsurge, read it in a hurry. i know they are two different things.
  3. definitely agree with JTT, mixture screw should always be the first thing to check. Yeh i use first for alot of sections. My m8s laugh at me when i tell them to use first on some big stuff. Always worked for me though. Hope you've sorted your bike out a bit. Just in case you didn't know you turn the mixture screw out to make it richer.
  4. glad your getting on with the bike, are a dream to ride. As for the nocking dont bother with high octane fuel, Who eva suggested that should get a slap!!!!! dont alter the needle jet either as they come with the right settings. (Unless the factory got it wrong) Have a play with the mixture screw and if it aint beta ask your dealer cos as my m8 found out messin with the carb settings only causes more trouble. Also check you can blow down the fuel pipe ok and clean the little filter on the carb as they often have alot of residue in after a few weeks use. Usually flakes of aluminum out of tank. Hope you sort it out.
  5. Silkolene Light gear box oil will surfice . Seems like you have taken a step backwards on the bike front although im sure you have a good reason for doing so. As for things to watch out for, keep an eye on the front engine mounting bolt which runs through the frame and engine. Prone to snapping but many do not realise it has happened. Unless he has altered it i would only advise you soften it a bit as it will give you less lift or bounce. Also advise that you drill and tap a hole in the bottom of the carb drain bolt. Then run a tube out of it with a plug in the end because if you get water in it at a trial you'll be up ****s creek. Happy Riding m8
  6. Got a spare for a 280. Will be little or no differece between the two. Its off a 05 model as well. Post a reply if ya want it.

    Gasgas

because its aimed at the under 18's who ride the youth 125 cup etc, there is no need for a powerful 200 as you can just buy a 250, 280 or 300
  8. I think you have miss understood the point of the pole. It was just to get an idea of how many people had probs with new bikes after a post on the Gas Gas forum complained about the problems with his new Pro. He went on to slate the quality of the bike just because of a bad experience (or Two)! To me it seems that a good few have had problems with all makes and models emphasising that the problem is not just confined to new Gassers. This poll should make those who slate a bike after one bad experience aware that it is possible to have probs with all new bikes and thus i rest my case.
  9. Ha, but Dabster you thought it was cool to have a picture of you and Doug as your icon!! Whereas everyone else laughed about it!!!!! Reality check!!
  10. see where your coming from, didn't mean you would literally be stupid, meant as a figure of speach. sorry if i offended. I've had 3 brand new Pro's all of which have had a few niggling probs but Gas Gas Uk have always being good to me and as a result i will continue buying their bikes as they are simply awesome to ride.
  11. Sorry you feel like that! Are you not pleased with your life! see a councilor m8 and refrain from making unjustified comments about a poll which was merely set up to see what percentage of bikes needed work from new and not to prove that some are better than others!!!! And the new bit means that they have come straight out of the crate! Sure they dont come caked in mud then do they so its surely the factory or dealers fault!
  12. Have you had good or bad experiences with your new bikes? Which manufactorers really are the worst for Quality control! With regards to having a problem it must have warranted you returning bike to dealer or spending an hour or more rectifying.
  13. I think like many have already said, you've being unlucky!! I cant agree with Subira more, what the bloody hell are you doing to the bike after every trial if it takes three hours!! All it needs it a good wash, Lube, Carb off (If its being wet) and new filter! Isn't that what you do with every bike! As for problems, all the bikes have them, but as gas gas are working with such fine tolerences to achieve the lightest and most competitive bike out there then there are bound to be the odd prob! I know loads of people with Pro's and although a few have had the odd problem everyone of them agrees they are awesome to ride! I think you would be stupid to rule getting another gas Gas out just over one bad experience! Maybe we should start a poll to see how many people have had problems with their new bikes i.e. ****co's!
  14. Dont think thats true as they all have individual part numbers and i have bought individual stickers b4 e.g swingingarm decals, rad decals, seat stickers etc. That was on a 04 so cant imagine it has changed. If it is a problem you can get some pretty funky decals from trialstar. google that and you'll get the website.
  15. Should be able to stick your little finger between the swingingarm and tensioner.
  16. Don't ask! What are you playing at. Red clearly looks better than blue! You must have to much bloody money
  17. I thought it was an extremely well organised trial, good sections, and a relaxed atmosphere! Would definitely recommend it to others. Couldn't think of a better way to spend easter! Even managed to win day 3 on S2 coming third overall, definitely be doing S1 next year though as i bottled it this time round! Would agree that the difficulty level is slightly less than that of the 4 jours de la cruise and as there was a few less sections you were able to take a bit more time to have crack.
  18. they can speed up the healing process now a days but like you say, two weeks!!!! Guess they'll be injecting him with that special painkiller around the area. 1996 world round, hawkstone park, Lampkin crashed and broke his scaffoid bone in his wrist!! Carried on regardless with it bandaged although he did have to miss a couple of sections. Got to respect the lad, he is one double hard *******!! Anyone who has seen the crash from Duluth world round 2004 down the cliff will know what im talking bout!!
  19. Oh yeh thats great!! Are they going to develop a stick on head with fake valves on it! Plus the *******s will have to catch us first and they wont get me. I've just being chucked off some land by an enviromentalist prick but it aint going to stop me.
  20. Dont go for a small pro i.e. a 200 as they dont come with the awesome marzochi front forks and although they have power it would probably have to be worked harder than say a 280. Go for a red one, possibly 280 or 250, contrary to your belief the 300 is a bit more rideable than the 280 but doesn't look as good (My Opinion). If you do get a Pro treat it with respect, dont bash around the gears and change the filter after every use!!!!!! You shouldn't have to many problems.
  21. Yeh but long rides look *hi* Plus the yamaha engines aren't all they're cracked up to be. Would agree though that a Pro would not be suited. They dont like road work and due to the minimilistic engineering it wont last. Beta's are a great bet, good to ride, good on the roads, well made and if you did decide to ride a few trials it would be more than adequate for anything your likely to try. Hope this is of some help.

    Lights

which french trial you going to? is it the three day in les Chatres? guess you'll be on s1 with all that factory gear on ya bike!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. Got my wheels annodized this year and my only worry was that the rim tape had to be taken off. Put it back on, siliconed as usual, it was fine. But two months on air is pissin out the spokes. Ahhhhhh I'm sick of it and apart from getting a montesa type rim, which is out of the question, is there any other ways of sealing them succesfully? What about those ipone reparators that blast foam in and seal air leaks?
  24. They do look good with red gassers but it'll look equally as good on a blue bike. take that little jap who rode the marseille indoor on a scorpa, is it Fumitaka Nozaki or something! his bike looked the dogs!! get it done. Alternatively candy wheels do a nice blue which would look equally as good ona sherco and it'd be original cos i aint seen any bike with that colour rims
  25. Le Chatres in France, we've actually being through it on the way to the 4 day in july. Go on Trials.co.uk, select international events on the side bar and theres a link to the website, would give ya the link but only using computer with dial up and its so bloody slow.
