  1. If the basket wobbles alot after removing the clutch plate stack you may have a worn clutch hub bearing.
  2. Hello Paul. If you find that you have no warped clutch plates and all of the clutch parts are assembled correctly and working properly. You might have a look at the bearing that the clutch basket rides on. I had purchased a used bike a few years ago and no matter what parts i replaced. I could not make the clutch work properly. I had to replace the clutch basket because the outer race was not removable from the basket and the needle bearing that the basket rode on. After replacing these items my KTM 300's clutch worked fine.
  3. Is the 02-06 plastic anymore flexible than the 01 plastic?

    Strange Noise

Well, the suspense is killing me. What was causing the sound?
  5. Maybe it's 250 to 270?
  6. I have an 09 290 EVO, and i ride mostly at high altitude 7,000'- 11,ooo'. Also i weigh 250 lbs. or about 17.8 stone. I was considering a different exhaust to get some of the bottom end snap back, but I didnt want to loose the silencing qualitys of the stock header or the fact that it stays cool and dosent burn holes in my riding pants. So I ended up trying a set of the Boyeson pro series reeds part#112. These reeds are different from Boyeson's power reeds in that they have a thick lower petal and a thin upper petal. In use i noticed that the bottom end power became flexable and easeyer to use. I think the motor spooled up slightly slower, while the torque became slightly more and the motor could drop down farther in the RPM's without concern of a stall. I also added one of their power wings to the carb inlet which added more torque and made the motor a little bit more lively. " The motor will now spool up a little quicker" Both of these mods together cost about $160.00 and added plenty of torque. I had to lean out the air screw 1/2 turn with the addition of the power wing.

    2010 Beta Evo

Does anyone know why there is a clutch kit availiable? There are many parts to the kit. Is the basket in the kit shaped different from the stock clutch basket?
  8. Give it a few more rides bricklane. I hear there is a different feel between the two bike brands.

    2010 Beta Evo

How many pounds is 11 1/2 stone? I installed the rear white spring and made up a front spring to match. My suspension works much better now, but i had to do alot of fiddling with oil viscosity in the fork and rear damper to get the suspension to work well. I weigh 250 lbs. How many stone is that? My ignition will get water in it during washing. I remove the cover and let it dryout and spray the internals with a lite oil like WD40. I just looked at the spring on saunders website. I think it is a different spring than the spring i purchased here in the states. The spring I have is more than 10% stiffer.
  10. I have an 09 290 evo. I had a temporary rear brake problem similar to yours. I removed the rear wheel and used a screw driver between the pads to open them up a little. And after reinstalling the the wheel into the swing arm the rear brake would drag upon release of the brake pedal. I assumed that i might have twisted the brake slave cylinder piston a little. I fixed it by inserting a screwdriver into the top half of the brake pads and pushed an equal amout as i pushed at the outside of the brake pad and problem solved. Those calipers must have a very short piston?

Have you tried tightening the flange bolts?

    Mud Flap

I dont know how close the rev3's fender and wheel get to the radiater. On my Evo the lower end of the fender will rub the plastic radiater gaurd when the front wheel is compressed far enough. I dont know how you would fasten the flap to the fender without having a bolt or rivet tearing into the radiator gaurd and radiater itself. I think the fellas in the UK fit some kind of shield directly on the motor to keep the mud from sticking on the motor.

    Lowering Footpegs.

I fitted these pegs and had a ride. These pegs offer a better feel than stock. Much more foot support and comfort. I was concerned about the 1/2" back and 3/8" down, but they feel very natural on my Beta Evo.

Where on the header? Both ends have a replacible gasket or oring.

    Beta Evo Forks

Ticket2ride you might consider lowering the fork oil 3mm in both forks and ride it again. This should soften the midstroke without loosing too much bottoming resistance. Changing to 2.5wt will be a large difference in feel. Also when you adjust the oil level in the rebound leg be sure to either hold the rebound adjuster tube all the wy up or let it down as low as you can while still getting your oil level adjusting tool into the fork. Wherever you decide to leave it it's important to put it in the same place every time you sdjust the oil level because when the tube is dropped into the fork leg it will displace oil and if it's held in a different place from the last oil adjustment you will get a different oil height when you screw on the cap. You can add a little more preload if necessary after lowering the fork oil. Here is a oil centistoke chart i found online shold you need to soften the fork further. http://www.pvdwiki.com/index.php?title=Suspension_Fluid

    Beta Evo Forks

Even if he has 5w in the forks. He may have the oil height set to low or the spring preload set to soft or both. My EVO came from the factory with Belray 5w in the forks. The factory oil height is measured with forks fully compressed 120mm from the top with the spring removed on the spring side and 60mm from the top on the rebound side. This should give you a good starting point. Also be sure to use Belray 5wt as a different brand oil is going to have a different Centistoke and viscosity value even if the bottle says 5wt on the side.

    Beta Evo Forks

I dont know how much 11 stone equals in Lbs. but i think the stock fork oil is Belray 5 weight.
  18. I have never installed one, but lubing It inside and around the outside is a good idea. Maybe a deep socket will work to set it.
  19. Usually the spring side of a seal goes to the high pressure side. So maybe that would be the spring side to the water side since the water jacket builds up pressure.
  20. I read here that Lampkins Beta UK recomends the NGK BP5ES over the BP7ES for the same reasons that Paul w mentioned. The Hotter heat range is probobly why the plug was clean when you checked it. I know everyone has a favorite 2 cycle oil but I thought I would mention this anyway. I dont know if you can find this oil where you live. http://www.opti2-4.com/opti-2.htm I have been using it for a year In my EVO mixed at 70 to 1 with very good results. It burns clean and dosent smoke after the motor gets hot. I pulled the header pipe recently and there were no marks or visable wear on the piston It still looked new after 10 months of weekend use. This oil was designed to be mixed at 100 to 1. The excess smoke is most likly from the pipe. Most 2 cycle pipes will produce excess smoke when they get real hot.

    Lowering Footpegs.

Have any of you used these pegs? Their also angled up five degrees. The cages are replaceable and made of stainless steel. https://secure.rypusa.com/prodpage.cfm?cat_...&startrow=9
  22. I would definitly use whatever the Beta factory recomends for a plug. I used Irideum plugs in my ford van once thinking they would offer better fuel econemy and they burnt the ignition coil. It literaly overheated and melted. The iridium plugs have a higher resistance built into them.

    Lowering Footpegs.

I think you nailed it John.B. Because the center of gravity was noticeably lower on the Sherco. After getting back on my Beta i could easily feel the effects of the weight of the top side fuel tank. While I do find the Beta easy to balance. I think the window for the point of no return back to center is smaller. The front wheel was also noticeably lighter on the Sherco. The engineers added alot of flywheel weight to the motor to keep the front wheel managable. It felt like it had a spring between the throttle and the motor. Unlike my EVO the Sherco motor was always lagging behind the throttle which for some people might be a likable trait. I'm pretty sure the Sherco was jetted right. It didnt have any spooge at the spark arrester.

    Lowering Footpegs.

Which S3 did you use. The seup with the big hole and adjustable shims or the setup with the bracing in the middle?
  25. liviob

    Lowering Footpegs.

That is certainly a possibility snapshot 3. I was on the Sherco for about ten minutes and there were many notable differences. I cant say they were better but they were noticeable and gave the bike it's unique feel. The Sherco did have flatter footpegs. Maybe a little larger too. So you fellas that use a larger flatter footpeg do you think they help your balance any or do they just make your feet happyer because of the larger area of support.
