  1. I was able to turn the metal wheel round with my hand, as i did it i could hear the piston going up and down?? Does this sound right. Yes your right, i cant start the bike in gear or in neutral so i dont think thats to do with the clutch, could be a seperate issue???
  2. Getting sum stuff out of garage so I removed plastic flywheel cover, fly wheel retaining nut is tight. Couldn't go any further as my flywheel tool is in work. I'l try and remove the flywheel tomorrow, once i'v moved the metal part of flywheel what do I need to look for?? Might sound a bit daft but never removed this before. Note: gave bike one or two kicks, seems to be compression but no kick back which I normally tend to get, and some thing defo sounds loose!!!
  3. Any body manage to make any of these after???
  4. Didn't get chance to take the clutch and flywheel covers off today. Just wondering what I should be looking for when I take the flywheel cover off???
  5. Yeah I know the back wheel normally drags, but when in gear, pull the clutch in and you can't push the bike at all, just skids
  6. Ok i'l open it up tomorrow, Just to note, tried bumping it and there seems to be lots of compression as the bike skids til it stops
  7. Just been out on my bike and as I pulled over to stop it cut out and then wouldn't start again. The kickstart seems to engage You can hear the piston go up and down It sounds like something loose There's compression there Could it be flywheel as I've had a problem with kick back lately, O also noticed that when pushing the bike home that if you put it in gear the clutch isn't working either??? This was working till the problem happened?? Any ideas where to start???
  8. The question might have been asked before, I got to sell my pick up, but I have a 1.7 corsa diesel, r reg, just wondering if this will be capable of carry a dave cooper bike rack with my sherco 290 on????
  9. Just bought myself a 'North Face Apex' jacket off a bloke i know, he's worn it twice, it looks brand new and normally costs
  10. I was just going to ask the same question, I've been looking at the Clice and the Hebo soft-shell jackets, both got zip off sleeves (ready for summer) and a few handy pockets. I know they are

  12. Just a little update, cleaned carb, changed plug, air filter etc and fitted new kickstart, give her a go and she started 2nd kick, little beauty!! Haha. Hav'nt retarding timing yet so that's a little job for this wk. Carb was full of **** and found a bit of crap in the tip of the sparkplug ( plug was new, so shows you can get duff ones) Cheers for all your help fellas
  13. Received my replacement kickstart off the importer, sent one day and received it back two days later, quite impressed with the service. Right, the kickstart seems to be a bit beefier, i was just wondering if they changed design slightly for the newer bikes, cos it looks alot better than the original one on my 2007 bike??? Lets hope i get some spare time today to get out to the garage.
  14. PUSH START???? I used to bump start my WR400, with a steep hill and a big jump on the back end to stop the skidding as you engaged the gear, but when i tried on the 290 before, it just skidded to a standstill Is there another technique to do this on a trials bike????
  15. Just wanted to add that the dealer has now spent time to contact me and explain where the confusion must have occured, Seems a top man!!! (he could have chucked some freebies in for the stress!! ha ha only joking)
  16. Hi, the importer said to send it back as a complete assembly and he'll take the lever off the knuckle and replace it as its a bit of a pain. So fairplay to him, really helpful. Is there anyway of checking the stator?? Im hoping that the problem was down to carb having dirt and moisture it it, I've cleaned it out, going to retard the timing slightly, fresh petrol and then all i need to try it is my kickstart. FINGERS CROSSED!!!!
  17. Anyone know the best way to get the kickstart off the knuckle, is it just undo the grub screw and pull it off, or is there a technique. Does the ball bearing lock it in place???
  18. Had a reply from the dealer (not mentioning any names) who said he spoke to the importer, and said that the kickstart was not covered as it was over 3 months old, although it had only been used 3 times. Dealer offered me a small discount off new kickstart. As you can imagine i was pi*sed, so i sent an email complaint straight to Sherco and copied the importer, the importer got back to me and asked which dealer i had purchased the part from and spoke to, as the importer didnt know anything about my problem. I then received another email off the importer saying he's sorry to hear that i was dealt with in this way and that certain products do not fall under the 3 month warranty rule. (such as kickstart snaping or bending, or something like a faulty stator). The importer then asked me to return my kickstart and it would be replaced with a new one. Im glad to see that some people look after their customers and not just their profits.
  19. I spoke to the supplier earlier and he said that he also had a bloke from new Zealand phone him to say he fitted a new kickstart and it snapped first kick??? So he asked for some photos so he could contact sherc" about the problem. Got to wait and see what they say. 75 pound for an alloy banana is a bit much??
  20. Forgot to say, cheers copey, i'l clean it out thoroughly as advised. Is it worth me puting my boysens in now while i got the carb off or would you wait til the bike is sttarting again tidy???????
  21. Also had to take my kickstart off as its like a banana, the kickstart is only a few months old, only used the bike a couple of times since fitting it. is there any way of getting them straight with out weakening them. Any chance some one could place a photo on here of their kickstart so i can see roughly what shape it should be???? (I cant seem to upload photos)
  22. Just opened carb up. Found a few bits of dirt and a lot of moisture/water in the fuel. Wits the best way to clean it all out ? Wot jets etc do I need to clean???
