I got some fibre washers in the shed, so i'l give it a go and see if it cures it.....

I got a good understanding of tolerances etc cos iv workd in our machine shop in wrk but we have no equipment with the capability of straightening the tubes, but i think il strip them and take them in and check where and how much they r bent. Il have to find sum1 in south wales who can straightening them 4 me. anyone on here know 4 a workshop in south wales who could do it?

I noticed at the weekend that the front forks on my 99 txt270 has been bent back slightly on the one side causing the wheel to be slightly out. The actual bend seems to be on the top half of the forks (the part that the triple clamps, clamp on to). I've been offered a set off a 2000 txt200, in the photos the forks look exactly the same as the ones that are on my bike. does anyone know if the forks on the 2000 txt200 are the same as the ones on my txt270. same size etc.... also has anyone ever managed to remove a bend from the the top half of their forks??? its only a very slight bend and i was thinking of stripping the forks and getting the bar (top piece that goes goes down inside the bottom piece) rolled and straightened in a works shop??????????? Sh*t , i made that sound complicated.

Thats why its different then, cos mines a 99 model 270. i mite try changing the washer on the oul sight from a copper one to may be a softer fibre one (or similar) to see if i can get it to seal tidy without using instant gasket. any one else had to do this???????

I got a txt270 1999 model and i fill oil up through an allen key plug whick is located above kickstart and oil sight. the shop changed the oil through my oil sight before i bought it and its a ba*tad seal once removed. i'v had to put a little bit of instant gasket on the oil sight as the copper washer doesnt seem to seal on its own. but there defo is a oil fill plug!!!!!!!!!

My brothers coil had packed in, and he was getting a small spark sumtimes but that was inconsistent!!!! as above

Does Anyone know what size the rear wheel spindle is on a 1999 GasGas TXT270 (Contact)??? Im looking to buy some anodised wheel nuts and Wheel adjuster Snails but i need to know if its 16mm or 17mm

When i'v stripped car brake calipers in the past, i've either used a compressed air line to gently push piston out, or if not available i'v used a foot pump (using the little red plastic adaptor that normally come with the footpump). Hope this Helps PS. If your using compressed air, make sure you put something in front of pistion so it doesnt shoot accross the room!!!!!!!!!!!

Most of the master cylinders (Brake & Clutch) are made by AJP, do a search on google cause the prices are quite reasonable or you can buy a full seal kit for around 15 squid.

right i modified a 17mm socket and it fits perfect. replace the oil sight and the copper washer, and it still seems to leak a tiny bit of oil, when left for a few hours. Anyone else had this problem????? i was thinking of using a fibre washer instead of copper to try and get a better seal, any suggestions???

This was the fault!!! Just losened it off took it back out cleaned excess fluid reistalled and not even a slight leak!!! Magic!!!!

i have just bought a 99 txt 270, and the oil sight in the side of the gearbox seems to b leaking slightly, can i just unscrew it and replace the seal?? What size socket do i need? A 16mm is to small, and a 17 doesnt want to go down over it (i think the outside of the socket is hitting case), or is there a certain spanner i could use

Think i might have found the problem. I believe the adjuster on the actual lever is pushing the piston too far in and therefore the res is putting all the fluid in between the 2 rubber seals and it may even be leaking fluid out of the wrong side of the seal furthest out??? Well this is the one theory i,ve come up with????? anyone else aware of this???

Just change the seals etc in my clutch master cylinder took her for a quick blast and she is still p***ing fluid out? anybody got any idea why this would happen???? PLEASE HELP!!! I WANNA GET OUT ON HER TOMORROW!!! Thanks Rich

My brothers Clutch master cylinder (AJP) is leaking fluid through the seals, so he bought a seal kit to get it sorted but cant find any instructions on how to do this. Does anyone know where i can get some info or has anyone done this before (seems to be common) and could write some pointers for us????? Cheers in advanved for any help!!!
