ok
so i've pulled the rear linkage in my 06 300 pro, to re-pack the bearings and give everything a once over, now i haven't done this for a couple months(my bad) but anyways moving on, when i pulled it apart i had 6 of the thin washers, now i know where 4 of them go, but where do the other two go, i've looked through my manual and i only see 4 in all the linkage, theres not too many places they can go, so any thoughts?
also whats an exceptable amount of play(up and down) in the swingarm?
thanks

ok i know im not the only one with this problem
but no one can say they've ever tried to do anything about it?
well if thats the case i might have to be the first one
-
i've noticed the footpegs on my 06 are gradually getting more and more beat up and i was just wondering if anyone out there knows of aftermarket gaurds that you can buy so you don't bend and smash up your peg mounts, or if anyones made some?
-
while i was fixing my bike
i had the clutch cover off, and i couldn't find any tourque specs in the manual for anything on the bike, and was just wondering if anyone has a tourque spec sheet?
i just sinched em up tight as possible with the allen keys
anyways any help would be great
-
yeah after i read it, it didn't make sense either, the bike wasn't warmed up first, and i realised there was still some in there when i went to fill it
ohwell i warmed it up drained it and re-filled it before my ride, so its all good
-
well when i was working on my bike i guess there was still some oil in the transmission cause i was working on the clutch and had the bike tipped on its side a bit for a better angle, well i guess i didn't get all the oil out and i noticed when filling the oil that it felt like there was too much in there
what should i do
drain and re-fill with the correct amount
drain a bit and risk having not enough
or will it just come out of the vent
thanks
-Jesse
-
well
i got it fixed, somehow, i don't know what i did but it works now
umm when i was putting new oil in, i think i put too much in
is this going to hurt anything or should i drain it and put in the correct amount
thanks

ok, well i finally got my kickstarter re-built after putting in a new idler gear and kickstart gear, both of wich had almost no teeth left
anyways
everythings put back together and i go to kick it over, and at the bottom of the stroke the kicker is still ingaged and when the bike keeps turning over the kicker almost sent me rocketing over the bars, so im thinking that i got my starter gear down one on the spiral shaft, and should be moved up one, if that makes sense
moving on to the second part, i moved my kickstart lever forward so i could get the proper stroke and the bike fired up first kick, but now im noticing a different noise in the clutch casing that wasn't there before, my thought is the kickstart gear isn't fully disengaging because its in the wrong position on the shaft, just a guess, and so its rubbing on the idler gear a bit
any help would be nice, since i haven't been riding for almost a month and i'de like to get back on the bike
oh and also the little spring clip that goes on the kickstart gear, when putting the clutch casing back on does it go into its own little slot almost directly above the hole where the shaft pokes through the casing, it looked like thats where it went, and i couldn't remember from pulling it apart, but thats where i put it, just wanted to make sure it was right
thanks

hey
i've had my 05 pro for almost a year now and i've asked the same question about a million times, and i've talked to all the champ class riders who ride the pros, and thay all say the same things, its a gasgas they make noises, and they all clunk into 5th
its all good
-
hahaha
my bad i read it wrong
and of course i've got allen keys, a whole bunch of em
-
yeah its a pro
where can i get one of these alan keys from
and whats the size?
-
alright, well i opened up the case yesterday
and i found that there was one complete tooth missing on my kickstart gear, and a couple teeth that were getting pretty small
obviously not a good thing, that would explain all the metal shavings when i drained the fluid first
so i have to change the gear, and hopefully thats the reason it was binding
i guess i have to pull my clutch out to get to the gear from the looks of it, is there any special tool i need to get the clutch out
or is there some way of changing out the gear without pulling the clutch apart
thanks
-
ok, well is there anything i can do to remedy this problem, or should i just what it when im starting the bike
-
while i was riding this weekend there were two times where my kickstarter binded right at the top of the stroke and made a creaking sound like it was rubbing on something, and the kickstart wouldn't return, but when pushed back up it kicked through the whole stroke fine and returned back to the normal position
are the kickstart gears not aligned and binding or what could this be, i haven't opened it up to take a look yet cause i'de like a bit of advice to what i should be looking for
and also i know you can take the clutch cover off without draning your clutch or anti freeze cause i've seen it done on the trail, which bolts do you take off near the water pump, if any, to remove the clutch cover
thanks
-
hey
i was doing some work on my 05 pro and i pulled the tank off and noticed a little bit of rust in the little crevace of the brace that runs inbetween the two frame rails up top
what should i do about this?
and is it something to worry about?
thanks
-
yeah
its not the wineing noise
it could just be the way the gears are, that would explain why i don't hear it
when the bike isn't moving
not too sure
-
yeah
its more of a grumbly noise, and its only realy noticable when moving
very strange
-
ok then
just got a little concerned when the engine starts making noises that i haven't heard before
-
well i was riding my bike around the yard the other day
nothing hard on the bike, and i was just on some flat ground, pulled the clutch in, and all of a sudden the bike got louder then normal
it sounds like its comming from the clutch, when its in neutral it sounds normal, and when you put it in gear it sounds normal, it seems to make the noise only when the rear tire is moving, and the noise is definately comming from the engine, i'de just done an oil change on it, and only had about an hour on it since the oil change, the clutch and everything works the same, nothing seems to be affected
so i did another oil change to see if anything would come out, but nothing, the oil looks like it was just put in the bike, and there was nothing out of the ordinary on the drain plug magnet
one thing i did notice is its easier to change inbetween my gears now, I haven't had it very long, and im the first owner socould this just be my bike finally breaking in?
or is there something else i should be worried about?
thanks
-
hey
my 05 300 txt pro makes a different noise when its in neutral
never realy bothered me though cause my bikes hardly ever in neutral to notice
-
hey
i've only had my 05 pro 300 for just under 3 weeks now, i got it brand new, and i was riding around my yard the other day and noticed a little bit of oil build up on the oustide of my front sprocket, no aparent drips on the skid plate or anything so i thought it might just be my imagination, so the next day i went for a ride and noticed the same thing so when i got home i took the chain and front sprocket off and leaned it at a resting angle towards the drive side apposed to the kickstand lean side, i left it over night and today after work i went and checked on it to see if it leaked......well probably a quarter of the tranny oil is now in the clean pan i put under it.....it appears to be comming from the seal around the drive shaft, i looked through my manual and it said theres O-rings and other bushings and spacers between the driveshaft and the seal
could these be the problem?
or is it the seal itself?
and help would be awsome
thanks

-
hahaha yeah i was never much for spelling
and i don't know how the bike is yet i don't get it for another 2 days
im chompin at the bit right now
-
well its been a long time since i've been on these forums, im imbarrased to say that for the past two years i haven't done much riding at all besides for the odd event here and there, and with my old 97 techno out of commition for the past 8 months i've only ridden about 3 times, all of which were on my dads bike
i've had my beta for 6 years, it was my first bike and it brought me from a junior class rider all the way up to the expert class, i've always felt that it was holding me back a bit but i stuck with it(mostly due to the lack of money to buy a new one)
well the inevitable finally happened yesterday, i was getting annoyed that i wasn't riding as much as i wanted to and my bike was still giving me grief, so i did the only thing i could think of
i bought a NEW bike...........thats right, 2005 gasgas pro 300
so i just wanted to say hi to everyone that i haven't talked to in a long time, and that im back for good now, hahah
