When my Brother had his 2000 250 he printed all of these manuals off in full color and put them in plastic sleeves in a 3 ring binder. He then sold the bike a few months later. I inherited the manuals, Thanks oh wonderful Brother of mine.
I did a complete teardown of my 2000 2.9, If you follow the manuals and take your time, it is not that bad of a job. I would assume the principles are the same on a 99 1.25.
Just make sure you have enough work bench space to lay out all the parts of the engine.
You can get em rewound for a lot less, i was gonna ask if you ruled out the kill switch, was out with a friend on his Beta on the weekend and he had problems as you describe we disconnected the Kill and problem gone.
Ive had the good old kill switch problem before. . . its always the last thing to check lol,
Stator could be breaking down with increase in engine temperature. I also have a 2002 Beta Rev 3 250 and my stator problem caused the bike to cut out after about 3/4 of an hour running. It would restart after cooling down. I had it rewound but then it wouldn't rev (problem with high speed trigger) so I bought a new one from Lampkins.
I am very interested in you're problem as mine runs poorely under load. It sounds like it's 4 stroking or pinking and doesn't pull cleanly. I've tried everything and would now like to find someone with a similiar bike to swap things over. I've replaced the stator, coil, HT lead, plug, rebuilt the carb, flywheel, new main bearings, and a new piston. I've tried replacement CDI, stator, and coil just incase one of the new items was faulty. I live in Northamptonshire, Nr Banbury. Anyone got any ideas?
It seems you have the same problem as me, Im lucky in the fact that i got a few mates with trials bike one being exactly the same bike as mine, Its really bugging me now tho. . . I have tried all the obvios like you have and still no joy, My next plan of attack is a new spark plug and some fresh fuel (Not tesco) Even though i have alwas ran it on tesco 99 and it has been fine?!?!? Wierd eh?
I undersatnd you can fit newer plastics on an older bike, I have a 2001 rev 3 and i need to know what plastics will fit, My bro (sawtooth) fitted the red '04 plastics on his '03 rev 3 with no problems,
There are a few differences between 01' and '03 ie airbox,
What i would like to know is whats the newest plastics i can fit i i buy all the parts ie airbox,
It does look a tad low, wind on a bit of preload on the back, will get you a c-spanner from work. We'll have a look at it tomorrow and compare it to Naths.
Did you get a spanner? i have done it with a hammer and screwdriver (doh) but might be a good tool to take out so i can tweek it!
Maybe try "reducing" your dampening (rear shock), so the back end will spring up more. Lots of dampening would seem to make rear-hopping extremely impossible, I think. Might reduce traction, though. But would help get over big logs better, as well (I think.)
I have just started a thread about my rear shock as it feels very soft! will have a play about with settings at the weekend!
sorry for this question just found similar question posted earlier, and there is plenty of tips, so i will practice , practice, and hopefully crack it.
Yo,
I posted up a thread about this a whie ago, "Turning in tight spaces" i think it was called, there is some good advise there, But tbh i think its just ptactice mate
I forgot about this thread, Since i stated it i have been tryin and tryin to hop the rear end around, not getting anywhere to fast either! Still struggling to bring the back wheel up hoght enough
Drove up to breakheart quarry today to see what the score with riding up there is,
From what we could see its an old nuclear power station, There is access for walkers etc and you can clearly see there has been people up there on trials bikes but the gates are locked
Im not sure if i would be too happy if i recieved a copy rather than the original!
Im guessing you paid original copy prices?!?!
Get on to ebay if it is a copy, It is so easy to copy and sell stuff on ebay, if you dont tel then they cant do anything about it and then we will all be doing it!
At the moment the wood is overgrown with nettles, it's that time of year but you would be most welcome at Top Farm, telephone the owner Nick on 01386 858191
looks like a nice little area, how over grown is it then?
