  1. Not for me, its a non runner ! Seriously though, how long must that have taken.........that is dedication !
  2. Was told not to bother, as theres not much in them anyway ! ......didn't need telling twice to not do something ! I have just re-sprayed the fuel tank, and finished it off with a good few layers of lacquer........was slightly orange peely, but a million times better than it was.....well, I must have spilled a drop or two when filling it up, and the petrol has eaten right through the lacquer and destroyed the finish......gutted. Is there a specific lacquer/varnish I need to use ?

Clicky Just an example..... As far as I know, if a plug is hot, it means it cant transfer its heat through the cylinder head as easily as a cold plug. There is a well between the threads and the electrode the deeper this is, the colder the plug. Although I stand to be corrected on this, I might have it the wrong way around. There's quite a bit of info on the plug manufacturers sites...
  4. Forgot to take piccies, sorry.......was in a rush on Friday afternoon to get it finished. If someone has an old one thats knackered that they don't want any more, I will try to better it.......somehow, as there's a lot of room for improvement. Theres got to be a way of making it easy to seperate, and re-assemble, like most silencers are. By the way, Ali is very easy to stretch, and very hard to shrink, I started to knock out the little dents from the inside, but noticed it was turning into a Banana......so stopped....I will have to learn to live with the dents.....or buy a cover !
  5. Just been watching kickstart on youtube.......brilliant........just as I remember it........Can't wipe the stupid grin off my face...... Do you think anyone will do it again, I hope so ! Johnson and Bosis in the pro-am final, superb !
  6. Right........I got a price off of Birketts for re-packing the exhaust roughly
  7. Ah well, there's not many cars on the road at 5 in the morning. Thats all the rozzers are interested in these days.....revenue from motorists ! I think they shoud all be encouraged to sleep in quiet corners. Couldn't help wondering what would have happened if they had woken up......I'll bet that vid wouldn't exist......

    Fuel Tank

Hi, again.......another conundrum........ I have removed the fuel tank to prep it for a re-spray, and found that the inside on the right ( sat on bike ) has been rubbing on the engine and now has an impression of the cylinder head and bolt head melted into it....luckily its not gone through. I purchased a fibre-glass repair kit a while ago, for repairing the mudguard,( by the way it worked brilliantly ) and was wondering if it can be used on the fuel tank to patch it up ( don't know if the resin will react with the plastic tank )....also thinking of putting a strip where the kickstart rattles against it, just to thicken it up a bit. Should there be spacers behind the tank fixing points to stop it touching the engine, and should there be rubber over the frame ? When placing the tank on the bike the fixing points are about a half inch away from the lugs. Andy. Whilst Im here, Im about to re-pack the silencer and will be trying to come up with some way of making it easy to seperate, without having to slice it in half and weld it back up again. Will post pics if its possible...(sorry if I've missed the boat on this and somebody has already done it).
  11. PHB- Thanks, I asked him before crimbo, he can't do anything as he wasn't the importer at the time. I will have to buy a new bike when the wallet allows....and the missus..... Dare I say it, but I quite like the new Xispa 280, and the Sherco. Xispa is about
  12. Check out the site sponsor.....Haven Trialsport Clicky Here
  13. Can anyone tell me how I get a certificate of newness for an 03 scorpa. I believe I have to ask the importer, but it seems they're not around these days, Crosswaites ....... Now what...... I posted this the other day and it dissappeared !
  14. I don't want to remove it, thats the point, I have not turned it anticlockwise much, as I don't want it to come out, so does it have something to stop it being screwed all the way out...... Cheers ! I want to feel the damping when fully open and fully closed, so I have an idea of whats left, if I find the right setting for me !
  15. Thanks a lot for that, very helpful.

    Suspension

Hi all, does anyone know if the damping screw on the rear shock will come all the way out, and if so what what effect will this have, i.e. can I put it back in again.. I don't want to remove it, but have started tweaking the suspension a bit, and feel limited, as I don't want the screw to fall out. There's a place not too far from me in Leigh, that repairs/reconditions shocks and the like, haven't spoken to him yet as theres no need to, but if things get messed up I'm sure I can get it fixed, but do I need to know the specs of the shock, and if so where will I find them..... Thanks again, Andy. PS. To anybody getting fed up of answering my cries for help, I realise I'm asking a lot of questions lately, but I'm just doing a bit of maintenance before attempting a trial - I still haven't done one yet due to commitments, ( no, not ''the commitments'' )...........Cheers.........
  17. Apparently, thats the new format for the TT, can't wait to see Guy Martin with Su-Bo on the back........
  18. New rules don't seem fair, as a fault in the early sections costs more than a fault in the latter sections.....
  19. Hi, can anybody point me in the right direction for a detailed drawing and/or tech essay for the forks, showa I think..... As stated on a much earlier post of mine, it's my bro's bike, he's got no money, and a pair of forks that he's stripped down, and unsure on how to re-assemble. I've got the new seals, but noticed that the teflon coated bushes ( look like spacers or something ) have worn through the coating in places.......how does this affect the forks.......and how much are they ? I've got the manual, but it seems a bit vague. Ideally, I could do with an exploded drawing, but anything will help ! By the way, the forks where very hard to seperate, is this normal ?
  20. Has anyone else noticed the amount of bad publicity the Scots are getting about their alcohol requirements. It seems that an average Scottish person drinks around 45 litres of vodka per year.......They mustn't have got round to counting the whisky bottles yet..... Today on Radio 1 they where discussing ( don't know he spelling ) Buckfast, and how it results in a good dust-up ! It sounds great, where can I get some ! I can't for the life of me see why it's called " NEWS "............Scots getting blind drunk and fighting with each other.......how exactly is that news.
  21. I have just had a look at the older threads - 2006/7 using the search bar (I always forget about the search bar) and it seems the subject of oil levels has been covered. The results though are inconclusive, some say fill to the level indicator, others say put in the right amount, even if it spews out of the level indicator - as too much oil wont have a detremental effect....... So, I filled it up with the right amount ( or 650ml ) and then removed the level plug and let it drain. I also had the bike leaning slightly away from the level plug side so it would retain a bit more oil than if it was upright. Still managed drain off about 150ml of oil......So the oil level is now correct, or 150ml low. This all seems to be a bit hit and miss if you ask me. I think another '' mither Nigel Birkett '' session is on the cards. I've asked him questions before and he has always been very helpful, but I don't want to annoy him !
  22. Right, Ive had the sump plug out for about 3 weeks and the bike lent over at every angle whilst doing other things. I filled it up with 650ml of trans oil, left it for half hour, and then undone the oil level bolt (from under the kickstart) and it is p***ing out......whats going on...! Should I remove the level indicator bolt, and let it drain till it stops, or just leave it.....I realised, whilst typing this what the answer should be, but would appreciate advice anyway.......cheers.! By the way, I haven't ran the engine yet, so should I run it for a bit before checking the oil again ?
