Ok, so I plan to ride at mickerdale on Sunday, problem is I am not a member nor have an acu license....
Can join on the day and apply for license ?
I will take passport photo.
Thanks,
Andy

Not completely full, there has to be room for the fluid to expand.

AT low revs it sounds a bit like the gas gas clutch rattle.
Seriously the ipod connection would be ace, you could buy new rev tones....such as...this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_3ENh9ERjw&feature=fvwrel
or perhaps a 68 mustang ?
-
Maybe that's where the electric bikes would come in to their own.
I used to show jump and practice dressage when I was younger but give up due to wanting women and beer more !
You have to be 100% committed.

Thanks all,
Bike seems to run superb as is but I will reset floats to parallel soon.
I haven't tried a gasser with a delorto but I really like the keihin so it's staying on.
Although my old scorpa was better than me I now feel that it's been holding me back, the difference is amazing.
It's easier to balance, hop, wheelie....hell it's just better by a country mile !

Well Iv'e done it......got rid of the scorpa and bought a 08 raga 280 with a 250 jug on it.
I've stripped it down and re-greased it and I have to say despite others postings I think it's really well made.
Are the keihins really finnicky ?
The day after I bought it Istarted it and the carb was pi**ing fuel from the overflow at the base of the foat bowl.
I altered the floats slightly ( so it presses the plunger on the valve about halfway in as the floats hit the top of the float chamber ) and now all seems well, although it wasn't leaking when I tried it before buying.
I'm gonna be using castrol atf dexron 3 in the transmission and castrol power 1 racing 2t oil at 80:1 ........comments anyone ?
The previous owner used carlube atf Q3, I would like to use the recommended oil but don't want to chance having two types of oil in there if theres a little bit left stuck to the clutch plates.
Bike feels really good, gonna have a play tonight and take it to Cowm on Saturday 11th.
The front suspension seems really stiff but I will have a good go before changing things.

I'd just like to say thanks. After the video there are the suggestions, I clicked on one about aliens and then about palestine and then the illuminati and the whole bohemian grove thing.
02:15 I went to bed, more confused than ever.

Only just noticed.....she went in on Sunday and gave birth on Wednesday, jeez !!!

congratulations
Honestly...do women have no consideration ?

Howdy y'all,
Sorry for hijacking but...
I am in a similar position, I have been looking around for a new (used) bike and quite like the look of the 2007 or 2008 rev 3 but I can't help thinking they look a bit small and possibly more suited to someone thats not 6'3"
Is there a bike more suited to taller riders...the shercos look taller somehow, I know it's down to personal preference but someone here must have been through this before and found a result.
Andy.

check the vent/valve in the rad cap as they can stick open.
-
Another win for Dougie !
What's the lowest ever score for thr ssdt and whom got it.
-
Ok thanks.
I put a new filter and hose on last year due to yellowing of the hose, the new hose (now 12 months old) leaks very slightly as it's now moulded to the shape of the connection and gone hard and yellow.
I like to use clear hose but the stuff I buy which is listed as fuel hose must be for fishtanks or something like that.
Andy
-
Hi all,
Can anyone tell me what size fuel hose to use for my 03 sy250...I removed mine and left it in work as there's a shop nearby that I forgot to visit and now I'm off for easter and can't be bothered driving the 12 miles to collect it.
I want some new clear hose, filter and clips...what do you recommend.
Cheers,
Andy.

How is it that nearly every trials bike for sale on ebay....no matter how old....has the description "hardly been used"
or been stood for 3 years, or... just used for playing in the woods, just had new tyres, chain, sprockets and pads.
So to sum up, every bike for sale on ebay has never (almost) been ridden or trialled or abused and therefore the people you think you are riding with on a weekend are just a figment of your imagination.
Ha !

I walked in on my mother in law having a bath yesterday as she was stopping with us for a short while.
After months of simmering tension between us, this was the opportunity I had been waiting for and before we knew it, one thing had led to another and I couldn't stop myself.
I drowned her.

I personally don't see the point in practicing with a different tyre as you need to know how it's going to react.
-
Put IRCs front and rear about 4 weeks ago and they're great.
I wasn't sure I would notice the difference as I'm pretty pants really.
My problem with the Vees is that I seemed to find grip one minute and then none the next in the same circumstances...not very good for your confindence as you make you move to throw the bike up and over something and your bike wheelspins and stays where it was and you having already committed yourself to the obstacle in question go hurtling over the bars with unstoppable momentum. Yes a lot to do with rider input but trust me the IRCs are much better. I suppose I didn't really trust the vees to do what I asked of them. I now have the added bonus of a set of emergency spares as the old V's have plenty tread left.
BTW I got the missus to buy mine for my birthday.

Thanks, I have no idea what the spring rate is !
Also...the spring is progressive ? I think. The bottom 3 coils are closer together...although I'm not really sure why ?
-
I have just enquired about having a stiffer spring made for my rear shock.
I presume...because I can't find any info anywhere...that the spring on my 03 scorpa sy250 is suitable for about 10 - 11 stone-ish.
I am a rather god-like 15 stone and think I could benefit from a spring thats 30% stiffer.(ignore the math just a guess really as I can't imagine it as being 50% stiffer, I think that would be too stiff)
The price for 1 off new spring is

I've considered getting one of those hand pump thingys like the ones the lawn man uses for spraying pesticides.
I give the bike an all over light rub with wd40 and the mud doesn't stick anyway, just wondering if this type of washer will be man enough !
Just for local practice only.
Anyone tried one ?
-
Will it find the correct capacity if I let oil come out until it stops ?
I do this and it's fine, I lean it against a wall so there is slightly more in...

Hi all,
Has anyone any advice on welding rims, I know it's frowned upon by some but others say it's fine.
Ideally I would go and buy myself a shiny new rear rim but thats not an option at the moment as funds have been severely depleted.
I decided to buy myself a nice new set of IRCs, removed the old rear tyre and found an innertube....oh joy....need a rimband phoned Birketts, one will be arriving tommorrow, started to clean wheel and found a crack in the outer flange...again..oh joy...ended up finding another 3 cracks.
Im gutted, will be trying to weld it but would love some good advice if anyone has any, do I loosen the spokes ?
As the previous Vee Rubber had an innertube, why had it not ripped the valve from the tube, and would it be ok to fit a tube again with the new tyre as a temporary measure ( 6 months ? ) if the rim leaks from the cracks.
I am planning a trip to Cowm on Sunday and am desperate to repair before then if possible.
Andy.
