Just picked up what I beleive to be an '04 txt pro 280 (see below), had a quick search online and can't find any other '04s with white Marzocchi forks?
-
If it was crank seals would that not make it run lean all the time? It seems fine while revving it (blue smoke and all), it just goes lean off throttle.
-
Well its now set like this and it moves up (down in this pic) about 5mm.
Does that sound right? It hasn't cured my issue so either its still set wrong or its my crank seals?
-
Failing the carb would crank seals really cause that kind of hanging?
-
Looking at these pictures it looks like my brass tangs are fitted updside down?! Have fitted it the correct way now and the bike definitely seems better. See the video at the bottom for how it is running currently. So my question is, is that a normal amount of over revving/pinging/revs hanging? If not which way should I move the tangs, as i've tried a little higher and also a little lower but still seem to have the hanging revs?

Its still doing it after fitting the new inlet manifold, idle is set very low and air screw is 1.5 turns out. Before I get into crank seals could the float level be too low? If so how do I adjust this?
-
-
As above, have done it once before a few years ago so need a refresher, method, oil amounts etc, both fork legs have oil? Bike is '07 btw.
Before I do change the seals I'm going to try to remove any dirt with a sealmate or feeler gauge so if that works whats the method for topping up the fork oil?
-
Cool thanks, will leave it at 30 for now then and see how it rides as don't really like the sound of pinking.
-
Have read alot about people running 27.5 pilot and 145 main to crispen up Rev3's, but is that suitable for UK climate?
-
Cool thanks, will take it for a bit more of a ride when I can and report back :-)
-
Anyone know the tolerances on thickness for the clutch friction plates on a Rev3? I seem to have .105"/.106" in my head?
-
My mistake, now the pilot is clean I can see its a 30. Reeds look OK too. Have replaced the rubber boot between the carb and engine with a new one and so far in the garden that seems to have made loads of difference, I think its almost back to normal. Will try raising the floats a little too if that might help?
Also any pics of modding the vent tubes to stop the dam fuel leaking?
-
Thats the thing, ive only just bought it, it seemed ok on a quick test ride hadn't been on a trials bike for a few years so I didn't pick up on the over revving until I got it home and took it for a proper ride.
I cant see any debris in the carb at all now so will check the inlet manifold for cracks and then move on to crank seals.
-
Low fuel height, whats meant by this and how can i check it?
Blocked pilot, have taken it out and it looks clear
Air leak at intake, have clamped up the jubilee clip tight, anything else to check here?
Leaking crank seals, how can i check that?
I have access to an ultrasonic cleaner, worth dropping the carb in there for a bit?
Just checked and i believe the pilot is 50 and the main 150, that right?

Here's a couple of pics, 2007?
'

Have taken the carb out but not really sure what i'm looking for here tbh. Heres two pictures showing what its like with the throttle closed:
Please click images for larger view.
This pipe is almost melted shut, could that have anything to do with it?
Also found that the part the floats lift up is a little stiff to get moving from its lower position, is that correct? See video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPuvJE0nWvg&feature=em-upload_owner
Other than that, is there anything else I can check whilst its off? Please be descriptive as am not all that clued up here :-(
If thats it for the carb i'll start looking at crank seals? The engine does sound like its needs the main bearings doing, that wouldnt cause hanging revs would it?
-
Thanks, have done that :-) Do you know if there's a 2007 one kicking around anywhere?
-
Yes it does return to idle eventually and does alot of ring ding dinging first. Am pretty cluelesss when it comes to setting the carb up are there and guides kicking around that'll help me out?
-
Just got an '07 Rev3 250cc and have noticed the revs are taking way to long to drop when I let the throttle off making it really noisy and pretty unpleasant to ride :-( The bike sounds very much like a 2-stroke motocross bike being ramped around?! (not good)
I have another thread with some general questions about the bike but i think this problem needs looking at in depth. Someone mentioned either crank seals (allowing air in) or idle set too high, i've turned the idle right down and still have the issue so is it likely to be crank seals? If so, whats the score on changing those, any guides around?
While we're at it, I don't have a handbook and can't find one to download anywhere for the 2007 so in this pic below the red arrow is the idle yes? So what is the green one and what should it be set to? Also is there any other screws on the carb that i need to be setting?
I know the pictures upside down, sorry.

Can't seem to find a download of the 2007 Rev 3 250cc user manual?
The Beta website only has 2008 but according to the following link a 2007 manual should be around somewhere: http://trialstribula...roducts_id=1278
Anyone have a PDF of that manual or have a link to where I can download one?
Thanks :-)

Haven't had a trials bike in a couple of years (last being an '03 Rev3 270 back in 2009). Been tearing about on a WR450 Supermoto so a little bit out of touch with how the trials bike should feel. Just got an '07 Rev3 250 today and have a couple of questions to refresh my memory...
1. Pretty sure I was runnng 70:1 pre mix ratio with fully synthetic, thats about 71ml per 5 litres yeah?
2. Should the 250 pull the front wheel up in 2nd gear (stock gearing) without the clutch? Seem to remember my old 270cc just lifting the front wheel with a twist of the throttle but the new 250 wont do that at all, that right?
3. Getting a knocking when compressing the forks with the front brake on, I know it has a floating disc but should it knock quite so bad? Dont think its the forks themselves.
4. Front brake is squeaking/vibrating, any fix for this?
5. Revs take a while to go back down after revving, flywheel weight is fitted, what would be causing the hanging revs.
6. Clutch is slipping, can this be tightened up or is it time for new friction plates?
7. How many turns out should the mixture screw be?
-
No matter what code I put in the access code box it absolutely will not work, just keeps saying code does not match, tried tons of times.
-
If it has the alloy casing its less likely to corrode but still possible. You may just have a load of old crusty coolant in there, have you scaped away the coolant to see if theres any actual corrosion?
