  1. Further to the earlier posts, unfortunately the date remains fixed. I have also been asked to remind any riders thinking of coming it will remain a Pre 65 trial only, with the emphasis on the more original bikes, with a big push towards the Ridgid catergory. The sections will be very natural and it will include a nice off road inter section ride round. The aim is to put this trial on the Pre 65 European calander and huge care is being taken to make sure it will be as enjoyable as possible with the added advantage of input and experience from Mick Andrews. I believe a day licence will be avaliable for Non French affliated riders. So , if you fancy an enjoyable weekend across the channel, riding a PRE 65 with sections to suit this may be for you..... Further details will follow when I have recieved them.
  2. I agree his comments were fair, so to label him and anybody else who might think getting the results out a little sharper an impatient fool is also a little uncalled for. My comment was more tongue in cheek than serious ,but then......
  3. Thats you done now in the ballot next year Cub, they dinna like folk that critisise....
  4. Just re read the post and of course there is a weekend in between, more speed less haste...
  5. Yes Joels trial is the week before and excellent, but mainly twinshock, and so whilst it may have some bearing, not the entry this trial is looking at. However and also its not too far across country so if you wanted you could take in both whilst over. Joel is pretty laid back vis a vis entries etc, I hope the trial at Sardent would be similar. I will pose the question and see if I can answer your points.
  6. I have been informed that the Sardent club along with other sponsers are organising a Classic pre 65 trial the weekend of 6 th and 7 th September. It is being headlined as a trial suited to the more original bikes with sections to suit, although everybody is welcome on the understanding the trial will have traditional sections favoring the less modified bikes. As the pre 65 scene is relatively small this side of the channel, I have been asked to post this to see if it would be of interest to any British riders fancying a long weekend in France taking in the wine, sunshine and the countryside. Sardent is around six hours south of Calais, alredy hosts a very popular classic multi day trial and the club are well geared up to make it a good event. Feed back would be good so I can pass it on to those involved.
  7. I have always though putting in excessive road work for the sake of it is unnecessary, however if you want to ride the best sections then it might be. Its a compromise, in Spain the ride round is always fantastic and well worth it, France they are going for short courses, and you spend more time driving to the trial than riding it. Its a choice , but if you want a PRE 65 Extra special with no seat, legs bent double and no speed then perhaps ten laps of four sections is more for you... However becareful what you wish for..
  8. My uncle has the same bike as you, bought as a sixteen year old, delievered on the train from Comerfords, still unmolested he is seventy on Monday. He uses his to nip out for the Sunday papers, as thats about as much use it is now. Years ago you may have been able to ride it in the Talmag, from what I see and read even this event would border on being too hard. Thats not to say with a little fettle as woody says you may have a days sport on it somewhere. My advice is to keep it to polish and ride like above ,but buy something else which has been breathed on a little you will find the trials to ride and have possibly more fun. Just a note... He has just sold an indentical model Matchless, bought around the same time for nine quid.. sold for a lot lot more .. who says theres no money in trials bikes...

    Ty 320

I too had a 320, couldn t get it to run right at all.. I was told by people in the know the 250 was always easier to set up.
  10. Rather than bore everyone here I have sent you a PM.
  11. Yes, I saw it there..... well theres no excuse now then. The club having the trial in April are having a big pre 65 push. They want pre 65 entries, you have plenty of time to get organised, see you there.. its straight down the motorway and turn right... Right in the heart of the vineyards.......
  12. In France we have a dedicated classic trial once a month, the next one is March, for a six month period, and where ever you live, will have to do hundreds of kms to ride it...Modern trials dont cater for classic bikes, its a political, federation type problem cum argument. A licence depending on federation is 50 euros or 200. You are soooooo lucky in the Uk with the various championships and trials most weekends on your doorsteps.. Dont moan too much it could be a lot worse.
  13. Alor Big Plonker.. Is le Majesty a vendre...
  14. When are we going to see it in the sections .... There is a trial at Escolotte, Nr Duras 24 , 14 th April , Mr Andrews is there he could sign the tank for you...

    Ossa Mar

Have been thinking about buying an Ossa around the 75/76 age to compete in the Pre 77/80 class in France and Spain. Could any of the officionardos of the Marque point me in the direction of what to look out for and any sensible things/mods needed to bring it more up to date. Not interested in making it something its not..... just want it to run and ride as well as it can. Thanks in advance.

    Classic Trials

Could anybody recommend the way to go re alloy MX Silencer. Looking to change the one I have a WES ( 240), as they bike in question is a 300.. Thanks
  19. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, the Sardent club where organising a two day twinshock/ pre 65 trial mid june. If by chance this indeed appealed to anybody, sadly it has been for some reason cancelled.
  20. looked at it and thought.. we really should get out more...
  21. As to using it in a clutch application, really cannot see why it cannot be used to aid ageing wrists and hands. Where is the difference when looking at all the other accepted mods.
  22. Do a search for " Sardent Tourist information" should come up with a list of things of interest to you.
  23. The insurance issue and bikes being licenced and fully road legal has taken a huge leap forward here in France in recent months. Lights now need to be fitted and documents are more often checked upon signing on. Bridal paths are classed as public places so bikes would need to be road legal even if the trial only kept to these and not the public highway. I would imagin the bigger multi day trials would have to use these chemin rurals.. to make up the route so finding a trial that you can enter with out ticking all the boxes would be rare. To gain a competiton licence in France you need a yearly medical and if you are a first timer, starting out, you need to take a " bike test" , offroad, to show you are competent. Hope that helps
