  1. I have rode the lakes a number of times on a new bike & now ride a twinshocker most weekends. The lakes sections are mainly rocky streams. Wet brakes & rocks/steps - two things that will test an old bike & rider. My recommendation is do it on a new bike!
  2. I have used both types of exhaust wadding, the silent sport stringy stuff & normal blanket type. Both work ok. On the back of the silencer, it is the last triangle shaped area you are working on. In here is the baffle tube that is fixed in place. I started cutting out a small triangle of ally in the middle of this back section. This should reveal the oily mess that is the wadding, that can be pulled out with a hook & pliers. The main point to watch is about half way along the silencer is a weld, this is where the vertical baffle plate is, you do not want to cut into this! I left 10mm of flat material around the removed triangle to fix the new plate/ cover to. Sorry got no pics! Have a look at motomerlins site, they have done a similar thing on a gasgas silencer. Trying to burn it out will not work, you have to remove the crap, & replace the wadding! Good luck and be careful cutting.
  3. It takes a couple of hours to do, not too difficult You need an angle grinder, some aluminum plate, pop rivets & drill. All the bodging is covered up by the air box when re assembled. The silencer still looks the same when back on the bike. Best mod I did to my sherco!
  4. The silencer will be full of carbon & oil, it is a sealed unit. If you do a search on here there are details how to cut the back of the silencer. You can then repack it & seal it up without having to weld it. Do it and save yourself

    Ridiculous

I agree as usual with Woody & Lee, the whole reason why these old bikes are fetching so much is modern trials are going the wrong way. I recently rode a modern club event on a gasgas & ended up having to down grade to the beginners route, due to sections being too tight/hard. Never got out of 1st gear.Ended the day p****d off. Most clubmen riders want a reasonable challenging event, but not too loose marks on impossible turns. It's easy to say I would only pay £x amount for a TLR or majesty, but just try & do it! I didn't think the recently advertised majesty would sell but it did!
  6. Fit the rear bolts, then get some woodwork clamps. Clamp the bashplate & frame at the front next to the bolt hole. Then pop in the bolt. Also you can use a longer bolt as you are tightening the clamp to help line things up.

    Majesty250

Well done for getting that deal! Has this set a new level for majesty prices, it leaves the rest of the majesty owners thinking! I could see a problem of fake majestys flooding the market.

At that price, he was lucky & got Mr Desperate,or it was a dodgy bid from a mate. It was nice but nothing special.

"That's lovely.....You can put me at the front of the queue if you did sell!" A very similar one has just gone on evilbay, opening offer????

Well done, nice bit of stuff! I remember seeing the 1st pics some time ago, Might motivate me to finish my project! Don't forget to fit the spark plug cap before attempting to kick it up - haha!
  11. If its still original, be gentle with the kickstart they are made from Spanish butter! Rear subframes were weak, keep an eye on the welds. No lock stops, stick thick rubber to the frame where the forks touch it. The forks dent the frame if you lob it hard. Front forks were soft, replace springs with heavier rated ones.
  12. Yep I had one when when it was new. Did a lot of miles & events on it. I think this model had some bushes in the gearbox that GG later replaced with bearings. So keep the engine oil fresh. The engine was very similar to the cr & the frame a kawasaki. Mine cracked the yokes, GG UK Said that was common & only worry if they snap!!! Nice handling bike & good engine.

    Blisters

Yes, I would recommend palm savers, they feel a bit strange for the first few minutes of racing. The tough guys who say grin and bear it have usually toughened their palms up by spending hours in the bathroom choking the chicken!!!!
  15. Hah, good one that nearly spat out my tea! Yep that Bernie lived near that great trial bike destruction venue - Edensfield!
  16. Cripes OTF quoting Latin !!! What next? I agree, with everyones coments, it looks poor & the description does it no favours. Twinshock silly season at moment, people see a nice bike sold for a lot & think their nail of a bike is worth the same. Plus the massive failing in evilbay, the ability for people to place false bids.
  17. I have only seen pictures of it. The club was in the south west. This is a majesty, but as t-shock has mentioned was the 'cotswold' bike mono powered?
  18. Hello, I recently spotted a well known UK majesty 250 riders bike that looked like it had a TY mono gearbox/ crankcases on it. Has anybody seen or know of this mod? It had the twinshock barrel & head, the frame down tubes were altered & it has a mono bashplate. If I'm correct it must take some time to get running right?!!!
  19. Don't get mixed up with 'misc - jazz mags' or you might be there for a while
  20. Here you are for some great backyard sections http://www.trials.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=6012 Notice how he is doing it on an old twinshock !!!
  21. Who's selling that one Baldrick, it looks like Time Team has just dug that fossil up!
  22. Until very recently you could get a NOS godden frame & bash plate for
  23. Heyhey OTF at this rate, if you get rid of some of your projects you'll be turning up in a Roller!
