  1. Interesting thread. Yes, Trials needs to be more accessible. How to do this? Well, long story short (for no intent to gain financially)... I have found it extremely difficult to build a business, which could help do just that. There are so many issues and much red tape in the UK surrounding what I, and others, currently and in the past have tried to achieve... Namely; Insurance, liability, governing bodies, land, costs, media, health and safety and dare I say it, monopolies. Some aspects of Trials are somewhat behind the times. Some people involved in some of the above are very comfortable with how things are. There is an element of an old school, old boys network. Some of these are interested in development, others are not, money alone seems to talk for a few. Yes, kids old and young look at going big, but right now, guys like Danny Mac, Toni Bou and Julian Dupont to name a few, are in the up to date, free media and do enough I'd say, to make the sport attractive to those who come across it. Just like Ot Pi, Eddie Lejeune, Hans Rey, Jordi Tarres, Steve Saunders, etc did when I was mesmerized by the sport, but had to get my parents to buy me the
  2. Hi there. It sounds like someone has wired the fan through the stators lighting coil, either mistakenly or, more likely, as they've known the fan coil is burnt out and the stator wants rewinding. It sounds identical to bikes I've had come through. Westcountry windings can test your stator and rewind as required. Regards, Mike,
  3. Young looking colley again, at the start of the first day SSDT 92. Good thread! I am stuck in the 90's! M
  4. I've only just got cable with Eurosport this year and was like a pup with two tails at the thought of getting some Trials on the box. Dabster is correct, (I've thought about how to keep this constructive, but have terminally failed.) The coverage was diabolical, the editing was confused and missed key bits of riding, the commentator (well known for his generic-ness) needs his P45. I cannot believe that the bigger name sponsors eg, Red Bull and the like can be happy with that effort. I think our sport is being done an injustice and a true arrestment of development when all they can show is that bullcrap. A decent comentator from the Trials world, would have been cheaper also. The 1993 Japanese indoor coverage was and is, (on youtube) better than what appears to be on offer these days. Some progress! M
  5. Hello all, to introduce myself, I am Mike, I landed back into trials late last year with both feet firmly back in "it". I had been away from trials since age 18 years (now a'herm 32!), a career in the (mainly) road bike trade, meant my weekends were no longer my own. After that got boring, I worked for the Ambulance service on A & E and the shifts never facilitated a return to trials until I quit in October last year. Life story over, I returned to trials with a few bangs last year and it was good to see some old faces and wobble round a trial again, albeit with chronic forearm pump! Anyways, those of you on here I know (from the trade or sport) and those I do not yet, I wish you all the best in sport and business for 2010. Looking forward to a busy new year and catching up with you for the craic whenever I can. All the best, Mike Wood
