  1. My Son is pretty much that type of Rider. Doesn't fancy the SSDT or Scott, too boring between sections, but he does prefer a variety of terrain. However give him some rocks and he loves it.
  2. We run the V groove version. I was going to check the type but had a mare last night with a flat and foam inflater just not working. one and a half hours for recovery and I still have to source another car tyre! I will see what I can do to make sure the V groove number is correct. The engine is like the Gas Gas with a Similar gearbox which is why you get a "rattle" when the clutch/gears are not engaged.

    Launching Soon

Post on the TRS Facebook page seems to indicate the Launch of the Trials Bike will be soon.
  4. Yep that's normal for this "type" of engine/gearbox. There are only the Original and a "V" grooved plug that fit the JGas I'll look up the number tonight. The Original is a BPMR6A with the grooved been a BPMR6Y I think. Some prefer the Champion RCJ8Y. It's a stumpy plug compared to others and needs a different spanner to get it in and out. We run about 1mm gap as it runs a bit rough at any less.
  5. I should imagine we'll have to wait. I know a few that were originally in the "frame" before SXS and they could be looking at it again. Problem is setting it up so you get and can store a number of bikes safely. Not many people have that setup ready to go and you do not want to carry to much or too little before you get established. I suspect you would be looking at a major dealer or importer of another make unrelated to Trials.
  6. The float is a Kehin thing so not just related to the EVO. I would see if it does it. Most don't but a few seem prone to it.
  7. Cabastany has some nasty bruises from The X Trial!! Belay that! He got them practicing the previous Thursday. Impressive recovery but I bet he wished he hadn't bothered.
  8. Planettrial are complaining as well. The whole drive to the rule changes in X Trials and Outdoor Trials were to make it safer and easier. And as I said at the time, if the officials don't sort it out when riders tell them there is a problem, then no matter what rules are run you will lose riders. To be honest in my opinion Jack Challoner's career has been cut short by the inept and arbitrary way they were implemented. He crashed because he was trying to avoid "sumping". I hate the fact that every time you turn up at Sheffield you do not know what the clowns at the FIM have dreamt up for this year.
  9. I know that dealers had already brought in parts via a third party. Hopefully all parts will still be available.
  10. At the moment it's a case of waiting to see if they will be taken on. No doubt neither JGas Spain or a potential importer wants to do a half baked job. As it stands spares are available for any bike already sold and there seems to be a supply line already in existence for spares from JGas into the UK.
  11. That's pretty much a gimmee. However I'd reckon until the 260 Montesa came out the importer would have been weeping at the numbers. However the problems come when factories dictate how many bikes you can sell and that number is not achievable. Witness the "old" Scorpa.
  12. As I said on the previous page I believe that both the importers WANT to deal with a particular person who was heavily involved in Jotagas and is now part of TRS. As for problems with Business models there are no guarantees as per the current Gas Gas situation. Ad long as the factory is still there and producing bikes there is an opportunity.
  13. I'd say the X11 needs wearing in more. Once the grip is there it's only fractionally less grippy than the X-lite. The X-lite is better out of the box and the grip does not last as long.
  14. Well Gas Gas dropped the 200. Beta are reported to be doing the same. The reason for the 250 is that it attracts a lower form of tax in Spain but a 300 can develop the power in a softer manner or be tuned for greater power. Beta and Sherco have dropped the 280/290's but Gas Gas still produce the 280. Never been sure why there is a bike between the 250/300 myself. As for the importers GG249 has hit the nail on the head. Perhaps it could also be said that in these cases both are "again" dealing with the person they were dealing with when they took on Jotagas which is their preference. It does not detract from the quality of the Bike and now that Jack Sheppard is the Works rider we'll see some interesting developments on the bike.
  15. I can give you pointers but most OSET suitable Trials are a bit further north. Bradford are running a Novice Beginners on the 21st March close to Harden Moor. Good to go to as a number of OSET riders tend to pop along. West Leeds run at Post Hill and have a "dead Easy" course suitable for OSET's and that's on the 22nd. Barnsley are more in your area and are running a Round of their Beginners series at Hood Green on the 29th March. The Websites give details of Venues and how to find them. Also most have Facebook presences as well. If not the Calendar here on TC could be useful as most venues are signposted. Most of the Novice Beginners Series round here start to pick up In late March. Would you be OK for North Derbyshire? Maybe a few members of those clubs could give pointers to their Trials coming up. There is a Yorkshire Calendar on the Trialsuk Website http://www.trialsuk.co.uk/blog that you can print or just peruse to see what's around. A few clubs run conducted Trials such as Yeadon Guiseley and Ripon and these are good starters as all the riders get to go around together. At 12 he might think he is a bit old though. Once you get "in" to the OSET and Junior scene you can an idea from the other parents as to where they go and indeed how to ride and maintain and tweak them. Most people in the sport are very "chatty". To join clubs is usually fairly cheap and the ACU card is only £10 which can be obtained online using a Club supplied code. You might find you need to move up to Petrol power sooner rather than later but the OSET is not only a good starter bike, they hold their value and basically are under the radar of local NIMBY's allowing your lad to practice where he might not be able to on a Petrol Machine. Lastly BUMPY in Birstall is open every weekend for practice and Parkwood Off road at Tong opens once a month for Trials Practice as well. Both are useful practice areas and Dan Thorpe runs teaching sessions at BUMPY. It can be a bit Muddy but it does have a Jet wash available for a small fee.
  16. The Jotagas UK Web site is back up with a statement from Steve now heading the Main Page. All links appear to be intact. As reported Steve will continue to supply spares and information as needed to maintain the JGas range as long as he has the stock. As for anybody wanting to import the JGas, TRS and Vertigo brands. Well they may well have to contend with a less than ideal situation. However they will make money if you can nurture the relationship with the factory. As long as they are there the bikes are supportable.
  17. Lets see where it leads. I can't see JGas being without an importer for long. The bike is that good. Leaves the Works riders in a pickle though. What happens to Ross, Becky, Danni Whitham etc. If you still want a 2015 250 then there is one for sale on ebay from a dealer in Cornwall.
  18. This do?? http://jotagas.com/pdf/MANUAL_DE_USUARIO_JOTAGAS_TRIAL.pdf
  19. Looking at the Factory the problem is that they remain a niche marque. They Sell all they can produce leaving them with no leeway if the "wrong" bikes are produced. You see it with all the factories. You order 5 300's 10 250's and a dozen 125's. The order comes off the back of the truck and they have 10 300's 5 250's and a 125. Had that "excuse" a few times when waiting for a bike and with much bigger factories. Yes it is frustrating and given that JGas are small it seems to be amplified by the less frequent deliveries. At least they are still there whereas Gas Gas and Ossa owners are still biting their nails.
  20. That frame looks like the Elliptical frame from 2007. Crap forks and christ knows what that shock is. Given the market it will not sell. Look at Sherco's attempt to produce a "cheap" bike using their old frame in 2009/10. As popular as Ebola at the time.
  21. I think that if there is a "problem" it's that no dealers carry stock. You can get the parts direct and Jitsie seem to be supplying now as well. My "local" guy seems well stocked but it would depend on how many bikes are about in your area as to what is carried. General parts like fork seals and brake parts are common so they are not a problem. Going to many Gas Gas and Beta Dealers and they have stock of the parts they know "go" and they will need to service the bikes. At dealers that carry the new marques they have to "guess".
  22. Trueba is not a happy man is he! It's a double edged sword. If he rides the 4RT well he is made for life. He doesn't and he'll find it difficult to get another ride.
  23. You take a chance whichever unless you have a Montesa. And then you pay though the nose. Recent events at Gas Gas and OSSA prove that. As it stands the Jotagas is liked by Chris and will be staying being supplemented by a whichever new bike Chris likes most in the summer, New JGas, TRS or Vertigo. These makes are basically backed by individuals which because of the nature of the market seems the best way to go at the moment.
  24. Spent less on Spares this year than I did in six months on the last Gas Gas.
