  1. Jumping from one concrete block to another and the rear wheel slipped on revving up. The bike is going in on Monday. Hopefully it is just the cover "lugs" that have been damaged and obviously it isn't oil "tight". CSP do some bash plates but I am not sure of the materials strength compared to the original. It seems that we have the choice of 7075 T6 Ergal or Avional 2024. Any metallurgists out there? Chris did previously trash a Bash plate back in 2007 on a 125 Gas Gas Racing but that turned out to be faulty. Basically it had the protection rating of butter.
  2. Might need a thicker bash plate?
  3. Very Interesting. I can think of one of two mods that for the UK would be useful. However we have continued "improving" the bike.
  4. We have just fitted an Ohlins to the Jotagas. First time out it appears that it handles the energy better than the Olle. The Shock and spring are a little larger than the Olle so you need to move a few spacers around to push the exhaust away.
  5. Nigel Birkett is the Official Importer and will have the kits. Dealer Wise Colin Appleyard and Pennine Trialsport would be the nearest to me but if you look here http://www.ossauk.co.uk/?UK_Dealers then you should be able to find one. Here are a few tips for the OSSA including how to fit the kit. http://www.ossauk.co.uk/?Technical%26nbsp%3B%26amp%3B_Parts
  6. I presume the problem occurs when revving it to the maximum? The Problem could be one of a couple of things. Simpleiest two They are supposed to run on 98 RON fuel not standard unleaded. The Air Screw on the Kehin should be about 1.5 to 2.5 turns out the Further in the Richer it runs. However the Main Jet looks to be the probable culprit so you may need to go up slighly on the jet size.
  7. 2015 Model will have a different Shock I gather. I have heard a few rumors as to why but it isn't down to Jotagas wanting to change. The Ohlins will be availabe as an option still and We have just had one delivered by SXS for fitting next week. 300 even with the Delorto has plenty of poke. Way more than the 2011 300 Gas Gas with a Kehin so a 250 could be what you are looking for.
  8. Sounds good to me.Time limits look realistic and it seems flexible on start time so if you want to take your time you start early. Love the definition of a "5". Fiasco!!!!!!
  9. Same rack that I have. I have placed some Pipe Insulation around the uprights so it does not mark the wheel and use two straps. one goes round the rear wheel about 10 times and is hooked on the loop at the front. The Rachet goes on the loop on the crossbar. Front goes around the inside fork from the Cross loop twice though the wheel round the other fork twice then down to the rachet on the same loop. any excess is brought back up around the fork once and is used to tie down the front mudguard as it can flap in the slipstream. Do not forget the light bar. I use the bungee straps to tension any slack in the tie downs by hooking them through the hoops on the tie down hooks. I have been all over the country with this arrangement and it has never fallen off.
  10. Had a chat with a 2014 Owner which brought up a few extra things. The Tank is plastic so they could mould it around the engine and into the gap between the head and the carb. There seems to be a worry that the tank is a bit close to the head and under hot conditions could start to melt. Not sure how true that is but it is also close to the exhaust. The fan cowling also seems to unclip from the radiator if the area is knocked as it isn't pop riveted to the rad any more.
  11. I would suspect a Beta 4T would do the job. I'm not sure what the Standard clutch is like but most of the ones up here seem to ride in the manner you describe. The Standard ones seem to not be too aggresive but do a good job for a "clubman" who likes to ride without using the clutch that much. I could suggest that on a "Pro" Gas Gas, Ossa TR and the Jotagas, you can also fit the large clutch reservior which can ease the effort made.
  12. Nobody would buy the bike if it was TOO robust as it would be seen as unable to perform. The sales performance of many "club" bikes that have appeared and disappeared as rapidly shows this. As for "over priced parts", I would say that if they perform well are "trick" enough and sell then they are NOT over priced. There is a difference between Cheap and Value. Personally I go for Value and that means it has to be expensive enough to last and perform without being So expensive you mount it on the wall as an ornament
  13. Only Thing I am aware of is that the fuel tap and plastic tank seem to like parting company at times.
  14. Somebody like Hope would be the best bet for a UK Trials Bike. They could easily create a frame so would need to go to somebody like Al Melling to design an engine. The motivation just is not there in the UK though. The FIM have done it no favours either as coming in with an innovation as Sherco, Ossa and Jotagas have done is getting difficult. I have to give credit to Greeves for trying. However as they got so much gref from the usual "british" attitude I cannot blame them for not continuing.
  15. It's my Son doing the riding, he occasionally posts as North Yorkshire Lad. He was 13th overall which wasn't bad given he does not ride No-Stop that often. Lap1 dropped 15, Lap2 9, then on the last 5! Just cleaned the bike off and it's ready for preping again. Just had a minor drama in that we run the throttle cable up the right side of the Headstock for maximum slack. It got pinched by the bump stop and we had to change it at the start of the trial. I'll have to get a replacement sticky loop as ours just falls off! Many Thanls to Sue Goddard for the Photos and many more of the Trials are at https://www.facebook.com/suegoddard57/media_set?set=a.10152332008915712.1073741938.677430711&type=1
  16. Worked well in the Mud at the Team Trial.
  17. Yorkshire Centre Grades on Centre Ratings. Novice, Intermediate and Expert. No Age ratings and they all run the Hard Course. Clubmen run on the Easier course. This was recently split into A and B with Age ratings on both. Generally the O/40's and O/50's tend to be the Hard course riders finally giving in to their age.
  18. According to Chris it feels better and does not bottom out. Seems to work better for him than the standard layout.
  19. Some of you may have noticed the announcement on the front page. I see the ACU want a "junior" version of the S3 Series for riders up to 23. Personally I think we have more than enough Nationals. Aside from the already congested fixture list that forces many clubs to run Trials on the same dates as other clubs in order to fit around National and Centre Trials where do they think these riders are coming from? Those who can already compete in the BTC or S3. The rest can afford to run in their local events or prefer the multi lap format Stop or No-Stop. Then of course there is the problem of finding land to run a 2 lap 20 section trial. Hard enough when you include road work it will become pretty crowded without as only a few clubs could find a suitable venue.
  20. There are so many "new" parts out there that many "pre 65" bikes are Younger than a few early Gas Gas and Beta's we see on Beginners Trials's.
  21. And all 1500 of the Original 500 (Pre 65 make and model of your choice) are still running today!
  22. http://www.nortonvilliers.com/ The FITS engine.
  23. Espargaro goes within a half second of Marquez on the "open" bike. Oh look who starts complaining about rules again.
  24. Have a look at the Norton Villiers Website.
  25. Had to move it to get the Kehin in.
