  1. Because the "Foreign Teams" have them contracted for their Domestic Series and the Euros and Worlds. If the BTC does not interfere then I expect they will make the journey and John will support them.
  2. Both Jack's ride for "foreign" teams who signed them due to the talent they showed at Euro and World level. I don't think the BTC rates high on their events list. I suspect that Both would like to run when other events allow.
  3. That Depends on what you call being paid.
  4. I would not say 67 Riders was a "Success". Pretty much the same as last years early rounds. It was a Good entry for the Scottish round helped by the fact it is the first round this year. As for the results it was pretty much "as normal" barring Gary MacDonald's good ride on "home" ground. I would be surprised but delighted if he can maintain that level at all the rounds. Love the "New Rules" comments. The rules are the "old" rules and the format is the "old" format and looking at the Video I don't think it will be worthwhile going to a round this year!! For some clubs that could be a problem as it's the only Trial they charge entry or parking for. Also it already obvious the "top" riders don't like this format, even shirty admits it and in the end if the riders do not like the rules they will eventually stop riding these Trials. As for More bikes sold I doubt Shirty, John, Malcolm, Nigel and Steve are going to get rich on a share of 100 bikes per year. I seriously wonder what certain importers are smoking these days if they think Selling bikes to National runners is going to bring in more sales??

    2012 Sherco 80

Just seen a picture of a Sherco 80 on Facebook. If they have got the engine right and the suspension sorted it could be a good move for Sherco as the normal chassis is small enough for the C class runners. It could be a good rival to the Beta 80.
  6. I think it sounds like ATF Oil was used. If the oil is "Foamy" then I'd be worried. If it's Pink it could just need changing. If it is water and the Coolant does not need topping up then check the breather pipe does not have any holes. It can get sucked in when you go though streams or puddles. If you do find the Coolant is leaking into the Box then it will probably need new seals on the water pump on the side. Not a mega job but I usually get my local friendly dealer to do it. Sprockets are usually 9/48 and get the chain cut to fit. We usualyy find the RK 520MX is as tough as you need. As for online retailers then There is TrialsUK. Chris At Splat shop is very good but getting to know a few of the Locals always helps!!
  7. Jack probably needs the rest still after the op and I think Jon is injured although I only heard that third or fourth hand.
  8. Might be more to do with hurting himself on that front. Probably suffering from not running more often indoors. Maybe the format should be tweaked to allow three riders with one dropped score.
  9. I presume the Gas Gas is an early Pro or late TXT. In that case the Sherco, if a well looked after one, will feel better anyway. Just check it's general condition and how well the engine and gearbox/clutch feel. You don't want to go from a Good 2004 bike to a Bad 2008. Other than that the 2008 Sherco's were the last of the "old" frame and compared to the Gas Gas tube frame and the Beta Evo they are a bit dated looks wise. Still a good club bike and it will feel "lighter" than the 2004 Gasser.
  10. Ok I have a Map and the Riders card but the only sections open to spectators will be those in Dob Park, Browns Wood and the "Splash" just down from Dob itself where a Butty Van will be open all day. I can supply the map via email On condition those restrictions are observed.
  11. Talked to one of the Members and it's a figure Eight from Dob Park. Sorry I don't have much more info but I will ask.
  12. Rider List and Start Times now available on http://www.yeadon-guiseleytrials.co.uk Website.
  13. Haven't heard of a stator going in a while on a Beta and John Lampkin is pretty good regarding backup so don't let that put you off. It is pretty confusing but you'll find most riders are happy with their "brand" mainly due to them being comfortable on the bike.
  14. They have to meet MOT standards these days so you don't want to have to re-do it if it fails. Witter ones seem to be about £50-£100 cheaper for a Fixed one on a MK1 Focus than mine so you should be down Under £200 for a basic one. You only need a single electric one so that cuts costs. Remember if it fails you have the bike and trailer as well as anything it hits to worry about replacing. That could be a lot of money just to save a little. They are also guaranteed for life because of that.
  15. All of them do the job. Sherco is smaller and the problems with fuelling seem to be sorted so might be better for a Small rider. However the Beta and Gas Gas are pretty much even. The Gasser remains the Trickier with the Beta not far behind. Many seem to be going the Ohlins route on the Beta lately and it seems to be slightly better on power whereas the Gasser is revvier. It's pretty much a case of they are all pretty well sorted and problems seem to be down to bad OEM components or bad manitenence. I would try them all if you can and choose the one the rider is most comfortable on.
  16. You don't have a location but in Yorkshire I can reccomend ECCO in Shelf between Bradford and Halifax. I had a Detachable Witter "flange" fitted for my Dave Cooper rack. £345 fitted to a Chevrolet Cruze. I should think the Focus would be cheaper as it's a more common model.
  17. The Beta REV50/80 is lighter than the Gas Gas 80 although the newer ones do seem to use a different frame so that may not apply. It also seems to be that Lampkins import more of them probably because the older Gassers were seen as unweildy for the Kids and it was the natural step for REV50 riders when they got big enough.
  18. Let's say you use Red/Blue for the Hard Course and Yellow/White for the Clubmen. If the Yellow is halfway between the Red and the Green would you penalise the Hard Course rider if they "Dislodge" the Yellow? And Yes I have seen a course set out like that several times.
  19. As an explanation I would mark Q3 as a five as the rider is pulling the wheel "over" the flag. Hence they are outside the course. The Other courses Flag is debatable as I would not five a rider when a flag for another course lies between their flags.
  20. 1St Scenario No mark given. 2nd 5 "Out of Course". 3rd 5 "Out of course".
  21. Okay so now you change the circumstances . Yes IF the observer HAD to put the flag back up then yes that is a five. If you insist on keeping details to yourself then I will not bother trying to second guess you.
  22. And in this case you and the observer were wrong!!! If the Marker flag does not need to be moved back or replaced then no mark is picked up by the rider. Check your ACU Handbook. I Cut and pasted the rule from the Online PDF of the Handbook.
  23. You didn't really come up to be honest and do remember that if the Wheels run over or the rider flattens the flag than that can be deemed to be "Crossing the tape or marker". The Problems occur when a rider "brushes" a flag and a five is given without the observer having to do anything.
  24. Further to my observation that many observers do not know the rules here's one that drives many riders mad. The ruling on flags isn't "touching" or even Pushing a flag. it's h) The rider is held responsible for displacing a marker or support in an observed section whereby the observer considers it necessary to reinstate the flag /marker prior to the passage of the next rider The displacing of a marking not relating to the competitor
  25. Looking at the lack of marks dropped I'd say the sections were too easy and not "proper" sections. The trial then comes down to who is fittest and can concentrate best. As for Minders I don't remember them being in the S3 at all maybe you remember them back in the distant past??
