  1. I'd say watch the most experienced observers you can and check how they mark to the rules they are observing to. Then I'd check the actual rules and see how they match up. One thing I saw and marked as a five I went and checked. It actually wasn't a five but everybody I talked to including the CofC would have marked it as a five. I "ease" the rules when I mark certain clubs or events because they either don't or can't set out to the rules they use or the riders are Beginners and being flexible helps in those circumstances.
  2. Will you all stop using the definition of failure as being "The Front wheel stops Moving". That is not what is written in the Handbook. What is written and it is copied exactly is. "(i) The machine ceases to move in a forward direction." Nothing to do with the wheels. Both can be locked up and providing the Bike is moving FORWARD it is not a Failure. Too many people here just have no idea WHAT the rules are.
  3. When is a Knee down a 5? At best it's a one unless you consider it to be a "catch" of the knee when riding. I agree all those rides could be clean under TST22B and also could be a five. Even Dan hesitates and I've seen some observers turn away instantly they see it. Like I said it's too easy to be inconsistent in a section let alone between observers at different sections. I refused a board this weekend at a No-Stop Trial and believe me I was biting my tongue at times watching sections. Oh and to those who observe on the front wheel moving the question is... was the "bike" moving. If it was and you five'd a rider you were wrong.
  4. Unfortunately they tend to be more inconsistent in "no-Stop".
  5. Used them to get to Youth Nationals for a couple of years. It is tight but they do go in. The "NEW" one should be even better as it appears to be bigger.
  6. Just picked this up on Facebook. Dibs playing tribute along with The organisers of the Penrith World round.
  7. Well Yoda I think I get your Meaning but I had to use the "Force".
  8. And you obviously don't actually listen, do research or have an original opinion. Free Speech? then don't deride everybody who holds a different opinion to yours. As for "modern" education that depends really. I didn't learn by "rote" and actually have an enquiring mind. Everything needs proof and if a newer BETTER set of facts can be proven that takes precedence. That's arguing not being as stubborn as a Donkey. Oh and I've corrected your spelling and punctuation. So much for an "Classic" education. I can recommend Firefox. It will at least correct your spelling.
  9. And under TSR22B they watch people stopping and getting a five and wonder if they could keep going at all times. Most Beginners find it difficult to keep moving and get hacked off getting fives under No-Stop. I know I'm one of those observers. Rules don't put people off.
  10. As you don't seem to ride "modern" bikes perhaps you should "retire" from this thread. It's pretty obvious you couldn't ride to TSR22A if you tried!!!! As for entries I don't see any obvious change between when this trial ran TSR22A or TSR22B. Hence it has NO bearing on the argument. As for my post on the Novice Beginners lets just say that like this Trial the riders KNOW what and where they are riding. A 100 plus riding a TSR22A when a TSR22B Trial in Richmond "Country" was running to your thinking should have had no riders there at all!! Didn't work out that way did it? Your problem is you are an "old" Trials fanatic. Please then stick to your "old" bikes and leave the rest of us alone. I doubt with your profile you have bought a bike new since the 70's. The "Problem" with Trials is quite simple. Nobody has the money for new Bikes except a flush few. No rule change will make a difference to that. Maybe you could "Sponsor" a rider. But given your attitude to anybody younger than you on this thread and others I'd expect to see Snow on the beach in the Maldives first.
  11. And your point is.... The ACU wants our Young riders to be able to compete abroad Hence the ruling is in line with FIM restrictions. I would expect the "employment" you refer to would still be there whatever bike size is ridden as they would be riding a "bike". As a post it's pretty Bloody pointless!!!!!!!!!!! If there was a benefit to youths riding 250's I expect every other FIM associated National body would be there banging down the doors of the FIM. As there isn't it's pretty obvious that it works!!!
  12. Thinking about this I foresee some problems. Firstly what exactly are we trying to do here? If the rider is a beginner and a youth then a 125 is about right, anything bigger will probably scare them off. And before you point out 200's they are in shorter supply than 125's. Secondly if they have been riding a while then yes they can ride a 250 probably pretty easily but why? They will have a bike already. I don't see the point to a degree as every "what bike to start on?" ends up with a 125 or 200 being recommended. I have even done the same myself for a lad who was starting, is 16 and would be 17 or 18 before he starts competing. I could see a exception being made for those who wish to only practice but even then I think 14 or 15 should be the lower limit.
  13. I liked the "round Robin" that Sheffield used but I think it ought to be in place for the final as well as the qualifier. The Spanish Indoor used to be criticised because the same sections were taken to every round. I don't know if that's still true but it could explain it getting a bit monotonous.
  14. Personally It's too late if they can ride 250's. The problem has always been finding the machines to catch them at 5 and 6 years old and that appears to have been solved with the E class. Once they are in they'll just follow though onto Petrol machines when they fit!! No disrespect to GasGas Sherco and Beta but those little Autos were never ideal and the biggest influx of riders came first with the TY80 and then the REV50
  15. Nothing new!!! Taddy Blazusiak Moved to Enduro to earn more and get works machinery. Money is tight so the factories are going to go with known quantities. That means Bou, Raga, Cabastany etc are pretty much shoe ins at the Spanish makers with Fuji covering Honda. That leaves Beta, Ossa and Jotagas. Gomez is behind Jack Challoner etc so was unlikely to break though and make any money in Trials without Sponsorship and given Spain's woes with the Euro that would always be difficult.
  16. 7AM UPDATE!!!!!!!!! The Trial is cancelled. All roads leading to the Venue are too icy to travel and because of the snow the road used for parking cannot be accessed.
  17. Regs are now Avialble for the Chris Carter Trophy Trial Run by Yeadon Guiseley and part of the S3 Championship. This is an ADULT only event - with roadwork. Hence Bike and Rider MUST be Road Traffic Act compliant. This is not for crossing roads you WILL be riding on busy roads in the area. Please note the closing date is 30th March 2012. After the protests last year late, telephone or Email entries will NOT be accepted and remember the sooner you get your entry in the better - early entry = late number. If anyone who is not riding but is willing to help and Observe on the day it would be very much appreciated. This is a 1 Lap / 40 Sections event - you will not be Observing all day, once the riders have gone through you are finished. Please get in touch if you can help. See Yeadon Guiseley's Website for the entry form and further details.
  18. OK So explain Horsforth's Weekend Novice and Beginners.......
  19. Strange one. You get years where bikes sell like hot cakes and others where Dealers have them hanging around for months. Even my Local dealer has said that if we were to change we'd get more advertising it privately and would sell it within days. I remember p/ex a 125 in 2008 and it hanging around the dealers for months. Now you'd be hard pressed to find a year old 125.

    I Got One

Caroline Sandiford runs the website you need. Jim Sandiford. Just don't mention the Drinks!!!
  21. Nope you need a Flange (Oh er misssus!!!!) type. If it's detachable see if you can get the flange fitment. Local guy has a detachable Flange fitted and it works a treat!!
  22. Must be more Awesome than you thought you went round on 13!!!!!!! Echo the thoughts. Over 100 riders is an awesome turnout and less than 10 failed to finish. Even if the course was icy to start with it does not stay around long at Tong. Don't be put off by the conditions and give it a try.
  23. Don't know what you are doing but 500ml of Dexron III easily goes into my son's 2011 300. Generally I put about 400ML in though. The Air filter does need cleaning at least every second ride so I have two one in and one ready(or being cleaned!!!).
  24. DOn't know why they don't market them. The Trials ZERO boot in white is a favourite round here.
  25. In the Yorkshire area Yeadon Guiseley will be continuing the Successfull OSET cup alongside the Conducted series.
