  1. Firstly the age of the Youth is relevant as He/She should be accompanied. Most B and A class riders I know can give as good as they get and still have somebody at the trial as a "responsible" Adult. Secondly If they had not approached their "responsible" Adult first get that Adult and get them to talk to the child. They "know" the child and will find out what the problem is and "how" they have been terrified. You then have the facts from their side. I would also approach the Observer/s at the section/s involved and get their view if they have one. Then Approach the rider and get their side of the story. In some cases they may have acted to prevent an accident or in defence if they thought they were going to be hit by the child. Finally you have to have other evidence. Adults can be intimidating to children and most adults don't like getting involved with other peoples children these days. At the end of the day the child should have had an Adult present if they are under 16 and they should be at the trial and they should bring it to your attention.
  2. Many Clubs tried and failed to create one course for all riders. It's not feasible without top locals complaining about the course being too easy, and clubmen complaining it's too hard. Hence the split in courses at Club events. We also now have separate events for the Novice and Beginner which are very successful. Even Centre and National events have easier classes. These let our top national riders compete on the same event with the best club and centre riders. It's a matter of where you want to pitch your event and you have to listen to ALL the riders not just those who Always turn up.
  3. As I continually point out both rules MAKE SENSE. Most Riders Like the freedom to stop even if they are not "Hoppers". Mainly this is because most trials set out as "No-Stop" cannot be ridden this way. The so called "problem" with rider numbers goes back to the Foot and mouth of the early years of the Century. Youth riding was decimated and has only just started to recover. We also lost riders to MX and Enduro on "closed course" events. Some of these are coming back but we need to maintain venues that will not be affected in the Future. In the Yorkshire Centre Spen, West Leeds, Horsforth and Yeadon Guiseley all run to "Stop" or TSR22A and get good entries. Of those that run TSR22B the biggest entries are at the Acklams Ripon Evening trials where the course is pretty easy. That shows one thing, some riders just will not entertain a trial where they drop too many marks. Where is the challenge?? A course that only puts you up a minor obstacle in a section is not going to make a centre or National Rider. Getting the balance is difficult but Forcing rule changes could only cause further damage to Trials. As a further thought Yeadon Guiseley until 2 years ago ran to TSR22b and suffered from numbers dropping. The rules were changed to TSR22A and we have seen the numbers stay the same at Club Trials, and improve at Novice/Beginners. Centre Trials seem to rely on Location and reputation.

    rev 80 clutch

I have heard it at Youth nationals!!! If you are doing "big" stuff the clutch screams. In the UK the guy who did the competition clutch seems to have folded but you might be able to source one from somewhere else. I believe the KTM is the correct one but I'd wait for confirmation.
  5. Don't discount the OSET at this age if you feel the REV50/GAS GAS Cadet 50 too big. The OSET has advantages as it can be used in a garden or field without attracting Plod's attention. It is also easier to transport and you don't need the "backup" bits a Petrol engined bike has.
  6. They all do the job. You have to try them to find the best for you. SIDI Trials Zero are a popular choice but many find them too "soft" as they prefer a "harder leather". The HEBO Technicals are a really good boot as well.
  7. The OSET does give you a number of advantages. You can lift and carry them with few problems as you do not have fuel in the Tank or oil in the box. The other advantage is that the law sees them as a toy. Hence you can ride them anywhere.
  8. Yeadon Guiseley will be running a round of the Yorkshire Centre Championship on the 21st November Start 10:30. All Adult and Youth Classes including Conducted and Electric will be run on the day. The ADULT course will require Road Work so all bikes on that course will need to comply with the RTA. Insurance is available but check the regs on the site as it is limited. Youths will negotiate a course at Addingham Moorside.
  9. I know a few that have/had them. They are a bit "marmite" some riders swear by them others think they are too slow/fast after the initial turn.
  10. Sherco. He's in the Team that won the Manufacturers Trophy.
  11. The last Club Championship trial of the year will be held at Dob Park at 1PM. There are road works consisting of traffic lights affecting the Bridge over the Wharfe in Otley. Hence please allow extra time to get to Dob Park if you are using this route.
  12. I doubt it would be a problem given I saw a number of Bikes at a recent national been moved about in that manner.
  13. Well could we have an idea of the venue so we can see if it's possible to carry the bikes between the groups. It's the first time for years "roadwork" has been required and it was a big disappointment to have to turn down our club's request due to it. I'm pretty certain other's couldn't run either due to this requirement.
  14. Looks like they have used either the 2010 frame or used it as a template as the plastics are of the "old" pattern. Should still be a cracking bike and a rival for the Beta 80. http://www.gasgasmotos.es/en/trial/349-txt-cadet-80-cc.html
  15. Don't suppose we could have the Trial without roadwork this time. Stopped a couple of riders from competing.
  16. Appears that the Team Trial was a wash out. CofC had to cancel the Trial an hour after starting due to river levels being too high. Here in Leeds the weather has been so bad I saw a number of Floods on the road. One in Horsforth looks like it has totalled a car the owner had parked outside his house!
  17. Looks like the tubular frame has been down sized for this years Small wheel bike. Could this finally be a competitor for the Little Beta's???
  18. Ahhh!! you use the AKI index. As for The testing differs mainly in the engine revs used(900 instead of 600RPM), and variable timing rather than variable compression. Hence it is seen as a better gauge of "knocking" resistance when an engine is under load.
  19. Firstly the USA uses MON not RON on their petrol so you cannot directly compare fuels between Europe and the US. Secondly the ACU allows the use of fuels up to 102 RON. This is because fuel is available at the pump in Europe. Not many places in europe but it is available. Lastly most bikes have a sticker recommending the use of fuels of 98RON or above. "Standard" unleaded is 95 RON. Tesco sell Momentum which is 99RON and Shell sell V-Power at 99RON. Most other's sell 97 RON fuel. If you use "standard" unleaded you are using fuel that the manufacturers do not recommend. It does not mean it will not run. It just won't run properly.
  20. Main Course was won by Becky Cook ahead of Emma Bristow Joanne Coles was a Non-Starter. A class winner Hannah Styles B Class Nikita Smith C/D Maisie Payne Ladies Intermediate Winner was Robyn Alderson Full Results on Horsforth Web Site .
  21. Electric Winner was Henry Stephenson D Small Wheels Oliver Smith D Medium Zac Collinson And C Class Sam Yeomans Joe Faunthorpe retired due to a Broken Finger so nobody is sure who is D class Medium Wheel champion. Full results on Horsforth Web Site
  22. Yorkshire centre has a thriving set of juniors at the moment. So much so that two extra clubs are putting on "Conducted courses" to cater for them. The "conversion" factor is trickier. Getting them out onto the Main course although again that seems to be getting better at the moment. As for running easier Trials, it seems to be that if a club has a Tricky hard course and a easy Main with a 50/50 course as well it seems to pull in the riders.
