Seen a couple of Xispa's already at Trials.

Seeing as the post started with "The SSDT was in real danger of collapsing in mid 90s due to lack of riders due to section severity with stop and hop. In '97 they went no-stop and had a very healthy entry.", isn't that a complaint?? It indicates to me that for the type of trial they were running they had it wrong. In Trying to make it difficult for Dougie and the World Championship riders the course became impossible for anybody else. Now we all know that that's a recipe for disaster for a multi day event. By changing the rules they HAD to ease the course whereas just easing the course might not have convinced the riders soon enough to raise falling numbers.
Physiologically the rule change was a flag to the riders it would be easier so numbers went up.

I think He was the first Youth B rider to attempt the Hard course. He finished the course in the time limit even if he was last. He has entered every year since.
-
I was refering back to the time when the SSDT complained they didn't get enough riders because of the "Stop" rules.
-
Anybody got any news or has the current economic climate stymied them?
-
My Son has completed on the same course as Dougie as did a number of Yorkshire riders. That was TSR22A. As I have stated any rules work so long as the clerk of the course sets the course correctly and has a mind for the standard of rider they are catering the Trial for.
The problem with attracting riders like Dougie is that some CoC's set the course for them and forget the other riders. The Scott and SSDT seem to have been obsessed with continuing to attract "World Championship" Riders forgetting that for a multi day event they just cannot run with 10 to 15 riders on the course. They need big numbers to run a multi day trial. They could have just "backed off" the sections with a few "nasty" ones to sort out the winners, however "changing" to "No-Stop" means that riders perceive a change has been made.

Best thing to do is buy end of line when they come up. Otherwise EXID and the cheaper XC-Ting range will probably be a good place to start.
-
We haven't got one yet but two 125's turned up at The Isle of Wight and a couple of lads locally have them. TrialsUK have had a 300 demo since late August as well.

Sherco Usually run one either at Hawks Nest or Close to Pateley Bridge. As last years was at Hawks Nest I Imagine it will be close to Pateley Bridge this year. John(Lampkin), in the last few years has held a few days usually at Addingham Moorside with the whole Beta range and a few Factory riders in attendence. I don't know if he will be holding any this year. Acklams Of Harrogate do have Demo BETA's which you can ride. Usually they take them to Trials compete on them and then let Riders have a go at the end of a Trial.
-
Doesn't really matter beyond which do you feel comfortable on. Some like a Solid bike where a BETA REV3 would suit, others prefer a "light" bike where Gas Gas reign, (although the EVO BETA is nearly as good). Sherco are a good "in-between" and Scorpa a solid alternative. Montesa's are the best Four stroke for MOST people but are "different".
Getting two bikes of the same make does help and your son should be Ok with a 125 version of whatever you get. The major thing is that any spares should fit both bikes and maintenance will be exactly the same as well.
Clubs wise Barnsley, Sheffield and Hallamshire run trials in your area. Huddersfield Falcons are also nearby.

It's at Addingham Moorside at 1:30 Saturday the 10th October. Catering will be available.

The next YG club trial will be at 1.30pm at Addingham Moorside on Saturday the 10th October. This replaces the advertised trial at Keighley Gate on the 11th. We apologise if this causes any inconvenience.

seems to be on the later 07's 08 and 09 bikes.

Just Phoned the campsite and it's room only no Breakfast!!!

Look "us up north" have had a few years where we were trundleing down to Otter Vale, IOW, South Wales and two rounds South East of London so I can to an extent sympathise. However what comes around etc and this year I haven't had the expense of Previous years. I made my feelings clear about two rounds at Bracken Rocks. It is a good venue but two rounds was not fair on the Northern and Southern Riders who don't get there that often.
As for Cheadle it has to be said that many parents I listened to over the years we have done the championship basically thought that it wasn't any good. And the Parents were those of top five riders, some of which have gone on to world rounds. In fact I believe at least one club organised a round to try and get Cheadle's date and stop them holding a round. The two times we did do it I thought were ok but we were "B" class at the time.
-
One thing that all clubs could learn from Scarborough is the route marking. Easily visible and clearly marked from section to section.
-
I asked around and the Praise was not freely flowing for the A course. As I have said the B class course was spot on with close marking right down the order. Asking around the Trial that has most praise this year was the North East Centre one. Otter Vale was also a well rounded Trial despite the long walk between the two block's of sections.
-
Some of the A class sections were borderline as regards safety and a spectator was hurt on 11( Best wishes for a speedy recovery). I did wonder why so many sections ( 1, 4 5, 6 and 7), were manufactured as well. 1 and 6 have been around a while but do they need them when sections from previous years that would have been perfect were not used? This is leading to a loss of riders willing to throw themselves at sections designed to "stop" Jack, (Who looks to have progressed away from the other riders this year). Without those riders there is no competition.
The B class on the other hand has seen a revival as the course's seem to be hitting the Mark. Tough enough and able to sort out the top half dozen.

The Reason Honda kept the Montesa name is quite simple, when the Montesa factory was up for sale the idea was to sell as a going concern and The Spanish government backed this. Honda came in and made a deal. They would continue to sell Montesa Bikes but mainly use the factory to produce Honda's for the Spanish and European market. It would then depend on how long the agreement was for, and if any penalties could be applied this long after the takeover as to whether Honda consider it worthwhile to stay in the Trials Market with a machine priced so far above it's rivals as to make it irreverent for the majority of club riders.

There's nothing wrong with the Radiator!!! It's the Fan casing that rubs through the pipes. I had NYL's modified. You basically either take it off and trim about 1 to 2 mm off the bit that crossed the rad at the top and bottom but leaving the edges where it touches the radiator surround allowing it to stand off the pipes. The other way TrialsUK did ours was to remount it on two holes either side that are slightly further forward of the existing one pushing it back 1 to 2mm and stopping it moving.
-
All ACU trials usually insist on 125's due to insurance. The AMCA and YMSA trials NYL has done have usually been 125 as well.
-
Rumours are that Honda are not supplying engines for the 4RT to Montesa. They have about 30-40 left at the moment.
-
Appeared on the Local BBC News Program last night. Who was that in a Helicopter emblazoned with "Raw Sports" picking him up at the end of the piece??
-
Anybody heard anything yet?? Neither the ACU or Isle Of Wight Websites have any details at all!!
