Got to agree, My Son got nothing as well.

The major Fault was in the B class running 7 as section 1 thru to 6 to end it then running back to the start to collect the next lap and starting at one. This threw the early B class into the Late A class and B class slowing them down but not penalising the "later" starters. If you split the classes then you keep them split. The cards should have had a half lap. 2 full lap's and a half lap for the B class. I have never seen this way attempted before and If it comes up again in the year I shall be objecting at the briefing before the start and making sure that I would want a time extension for the affected class. It seems a penny pinching move by the organisers saving money on punch cards when the parents have spent a lot of money supporting the event.
We all know as well that getting Observers is difficult but the lack of punchers caused major delays. At one section a parent timed the observer taking nearly ten minutes just to give a rider a requested 5. That parent observes National events and was not impressed. Also looking at the results there is, I believe, at least one anomaly which cannot now be rectified.
All in all the Sections were good but did have "stoppers" and they always slow down the event. A section should be "paddle able" within 2 minutes. Many riders on both courses took 5 to 10 minutes to get three's. That is the sign of a Bad section. Section 5 and 10 were amongest the worst.
As for the riders being signed off before riding section 12 it appears to have been a "common Sense" move that was initiated by the person signing people off. They did this because of the queues at 12 but I understand that some riders may have taken advantage and gone to 12 and then back to complete sections. I'm not commenting further on this as I didn't see it but if true it makes a mockery of the "time limit".

NYL Tried one of the first of the 80's in the country. He liked it. According to him It feels a bit smaller than the Beta and has a "revier" engine but the cycle parts are pretty good. They are very popular in Spain but the lack of a continuous importer in the UK puts people off. Having said that parts are pretty easy to pick up and they have been going a long time so should be a good bet. As for the 50, Young Gabby Whitham uses one and seems to do rather well.

CROSSER gave up the Clipic Franchise, He is too busy with the X-Treme Trials team. The current Importer is Pennine Trialsport who are just off the Saddleworth Moor junction of the M62. Call Andy and he'll sort you out.

Not so Sure about great. The Sections were good but there were to many long sections and the "B" class lap starting on the second lap caused time problems as those on the seconf lap clashed with those still on their first. In fact I've never seen that way of doing it before !

If I remember correctly Manchester 17 have Beginners Trials so you could enter them. Also Back Cowm Quarry is near Rochdale and is a legal and full time Practice venue. You have to check their Web-site for timings as one Sunday a month is given over to 4X4's tho.

MArtin Crosswaite and Dan Clark are the most prolific arena show Trials pairing. Their Shows are promoted as "Xtreme Trials" and you'll find a list of where they will be performing Xtreme Dates. They are at the top end of the sport but are very enteraining. Trials and Motocross news gets a varied reception on this site but every Trial on a weekend is in there and along with the dates calendar on the front page is a good place to find your local trials. These will give you a better feeling for where you need to start and what level to start at.

Firstly a lot of the Scorpa's have been upgraded to 175 spec, (actually 140cc or thereabouts). Secondly the ones with the Hydraulic clutch conversions are the ones to get especially those with the AJP hydraulics. Some like the Magura conversion though. That's about it really. They are a good bike but not for a good clubman or Expert as they don't quite have the guts. On the right sections they are very good!!

NYL's was sent a while ago now.

Just switched from Protecta-Bike to Carole Nash. The cover was cheaper and it includes cover to at and from Events and Official practice areas.

REV50's do have a habit of "oiling" the plug up when cold. We ran about half the amount of oil recommended but ran an expensive synthetic to compensate with some Silkolene Pro FST additives making up the remainder of the mix. Also When you finish the trial close the fuel tap and let the fuel run out until the engine dies. Try also running a slightly hotter plug.

The Light Walking Waterproofs do the job of keeping you dry. I use the trousers when following NYL. You do need something warm under them but they do stop the rain and wind. As as suggested any Jacket using Gore-Tex will keep you warm as well as dry. NYL also has a XC-Ting waterproof. It keeps the rain out nicely.

Seen a few of the '07 Sherco 4T's and they don't have any problems. Beta have produced a good product out of the box but have probably benefited from watching Sherco and Scorpa's early troubles.

Unless the FC have an exemption then the rules are:- if the road has no signs and is Unlit The National Speed limit applies. This 60Mph on Single carriageway and 70Mph on Dual. Where the Carriageway is lit then unless signed the limit is 30MPH.

One thing I would like to state is that "considerable Speed" is a statement that does not carry much weight with me. Given that I have witnessed people grumble at bikes and cars using low gears and as such high revs going "like a bat out of hell" when they have to me obviously been taking considerable care about their speed I often wonder about the motives behind that statement. I also wonder if the by-ways have been sign posted correctly? Too many authorities decide a Rupp or road is now a Path without consulting there own historic maps and do not apply the correct planning laws. Oh and yes I am "stirring it", authority does need to challenged else we will lose our rights of way. Perhaps we need to look at the tactics of Ramblers who lets face it are militant.

I ran one for my Son for a year. The Plug tends to "oil up" when first starting. The cure was to "run out" the Petrol by closing the fuel tap and letting it use the remaining fuel when you had finished the trial or carry a spare plug and plug spanner. Some people had problems with the rear exhaust. The early models just had one mount which proved a little weak if the bike was dropped. Later models had a mount which went boths sides of the frame mounting point. Lastly we had an Output shaft break. I have heard of one or two going so it could have just been a faulty batch. Generally tho there are a sturdy bike and will give your young 'un hours of care free riding.

Anybody know of a better bash guard for a Gas Gas Pro??

Check for Updates on the AVG website and see if they have a section detailing how to remove the problem file. If not try Stinger it's downloadable from several sources. I'd also use Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy to sweep your system. They get rid of files that are not viri, but do track usage of the internet.
-
So what about it being used as a practice area is that not as important?
While practising is important the fact is that first the club has to secure the land for Trials. One of those is the British Championship Round which many consider to be one of the best around. Once that is done the problem of practising can be addressed. If an agreement can be reached it may well be restrictive.

Sherco's are ok if you use the right oil. NYL had Castrol XR77 in his tank and had no trouble's. The Beta fills a role. Depending how you ride it fit's or it doesn't, the sane with Gas Gas Pro's.

Oh that is so old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
At the Moment Yeadon Guiseley are concentrating their efforts on the Three remaining trials to be run at Addingham This Year. Andy is aware of the steps being taken and If successful The club will make an announcement.

Most Yorkshire Centre clubs have Red/Blue for Hard course, white/Yellow Easy. 50/50 sections marked by Green marker at the start.
