I think they just had an unlucky break. Plod was looking into something else and hung around like a bad smell.

One of my favourite motoring Journalist's injured doing what he loved. Get well soon Hamster!!
-
Don't know we had one 14 year old slip past us a few years back.
Weren't they pushing bikes into Vans and moving them between groups of sections at one trial a while back when the BIB showed up a while back????
-
Trawling round the dealers seems that they have a difficult time selling on second hand stock. There seems to be a "trough" between

So start your own thread!!!!
Seriously the Crackpot has road work and hence no Youth's which means not everyone can do it.

Another "once a year" venue Yeadon Guiseley will be holding The Dave Curry trial at Cockhill Leadmines, Greenhow on Sunday the 24th September at 11am. The Event is open to members of Yorkshire Centre Clubs. Entry Forms are available on the club website and Entries are open until Saturday the 23rd or on the day for a small extra charge.
It's A non stop trials open to all classes and as usual includes a Conducted course for "Small wheels".
-
It's a 2pm start accoring to TMX. If iI remember correctly you get to the A170 Between Kirby Moorside and Pickering and follow the signs for Rosedale and Thorgill. Once you get close the flags will take you in.

West Leeds web site staes that they hop to have them about midday today (monday 11th).

I don't think there is any suggestion of "going to war". No grevience has been aired to any trials rider at Addingham and as far as the farmer is concerned he seems to be keeping the venue open. When talking to some bicycle trials people there a couple of weeks ago they seemed to think the "resident" was aggrieved about the amount of traffic stopping him from getting his Sunday paper!!! As most traffic up there is due to the view, walkers, farms and the hunting dogs the Trials riders contribute very little except on events which he cannot stop anyway!
-
I fully support the idea of an internet based discussion over a period of a couple of weeks. The time and travel required to get to a meeting is beyond most people these days due to other events in their lives.
-
Mike Jennings was up there on Friday with Sam Jennings practicing and did see the Farmer. No Mention of any closure and other riders were there. I suspect the "local" is stil whining but has not been able to affect the land's use.
-
They seem to be grouped around Yorkshire, a gaggle in the south of England and one in Wales. Even if Cheadle came back that's a big geographical gap in the middle that does not have a round. I remember Mansfield Maun running one when we went to a C/D round. So why this year when concerns were voiced about travelling costs etc do we have this situation??
-
See also my post about the REV50. It looks like they are having to engineer a new bike as they are out of Engines an it will not be ready until 2008. That means any REV50 will rise in value.
-
There isn't going to be one. Beta cannot get any more engines and they are developing a replacement for 2008.
-
Birketts did do one called the NBT75. They may still do it but when the REV80 came out it sort of died. You could transplant the 80cc engine into it or fir the 50cc wheels to the REV80.
-
Just to clarify matters Yeadon Guiseley & District Motor Club Trials are unaffected by any ruling by the local council as The club organises trials at Addingham under the "28 day" rule. I will be in the "area" this week and will be trying to clarify what is happening with regard to practising.

Just like the rider then, anyway how do you know?
Because you have listed the Non-Standard items on here previously. I believe it includes a rear Shock from a REV3. Modified Exhaust, rear wheel/rim from a GAS GAS(??), brake mods etc. Sensible mods that make the bike extremely capable and something that a new rider would not get on the standard Bike. A Standard REV80 even with a comparable rider would find your son on his bike ahead of them. I don't have a problem with that and am improving my Chris's bike to that sort of level.
It helps when the bikes are tunable and my example of the Sherco is another way to go if the young person concerned feels that is the bike they like riding and that was my reason in pointing that out.
My Apologies if I seemed obtuse but I'm posting at 3am and am suffering from getting drenched standing out at Addingham on Sunday and not being able to have a beer to stave off the sniffles
-
Hard to say. The Gas Gas Seems to be unpopular at the moment, The Beta is very popular and John Lampkin has a few "tweaks" for it although the "seat" height is slightly higher than the 125 Gas Gas. You also have to change the rear wheel to get a Tubeless tyre on it. The Sherco 80 has the same frame as the 125 but the suspension is not as good. I do know of a Sherco that has had an engine transplant. It's a 125 chassis with the 80 engine in it and the rider believes it is a great improvement. The Clipic seemed a good bike but I haven't seen many of them about.
Hence the Beta is a safe bet and has improved since it came out.
Just be aware That bike is far from "Standard".

Yep on Pistonheads, Billnelson.com etc I remain Telecat. It's a company name and Domain I own too,(Telecat.co.uk), although at the moment I do little with it.
-
Observed at the Last Ripon Trial last year. It Started at 4PM and I was glad the "Butty" van had a Generator and lights or I'd never had found my way back to the car park!!
-
Went up today and no sign of any closure, in fact the biketrials wre out in force, (when they weren't being drenched or blown away!!). Talking to one of their officials the "resident" had been complaining because he couldn't "Get his paper" for traffic on a Sunday. It sounds a bit pathetic and I will be back to check on progress.
-
That resident could be in for a shock!! And unless I'm mistaken it should 28 days a year.
-
Addingham has been threatened a few times but the "resident" who I believe to be a Councilour has had very little success in shutting it down. He could not shut down the venue totally as Yeadon Guiseley use it at least three times a year under the 28 day rule. I get the feeling he better move as the land around is also used for Trials, Emmotts and Rough Holden being two sites very close to Addingham. The Lampkins also use land very close to Addingham so it's not going to die just yet!!!
Basically keep using the practice areas the landowners are happy to let you use and respect the landowner and their land. They are more likely to allow Trials riders on if riders keep the area "tidy" and are civil.

Could you get to Leeds, Pateley Bridge, Otley and Bingley??? On the 30th September their will be a Practise afternoon start 2pm for beginners at Dob Park near Otley contact Mike Hinch on 0113-2672734. You'll have to join the club but you could then ride at the 7th October Beginners at Deer Park Bingley 2pm start. Keep an eye out for Bradford's Autotowbars Series You can join Bradford or use the YG membership to ride as they are "restricted" trials.
Also watch out for Horsforth at Greenhow near Pateley Bridge on the 29th October and the 10th December at Deer Park Bingley, (yep, same venue). Both will be 11am start I think but check TMX
Spen Valley have a Novice/Beginners at Tong on the 8th October at 12 and Cliffe Lane in Cleckheaton on the 25th November 1pm.
Ripon's Summer series will end on the 16th September at Fellbeck near Pateley Bridge starting at 4:00pm. The easy course is for beginners.
Failing that West Leeds usually put in a beginners route at Post Hill so it may well be worth turning up for those as well if the trip isn't too bad. Usually they start at 1pm except the last of the year which starts at 12.
Hope there are some there for you!!
