The way we go is to come off the M1 at Junction 36 and go down the A6195 to wards Wath. I think it's about 5 roundabouts down and you need to take the Wombwell turn signposted for the station. When you get to the Crossroads go straight across. This takes you on to Dovecliffe Road. This takes you alongside Wombwell Wood. The trial Venue is on the right about a mile up. If the Sections are close to the road you'll see them on the right. Either way It's a road on the right I think with some signs pointing to a Recycling site(I think that's what it is). As you go down the road hairpins left and the trial entrance is on the outside of that corner. Take direction from the officials as to where to park as it can be a bit tight.

Good News!! The observer was out today at the Centre Trial At Cowling. Looked to be enjoying himself from the (little) time I spent there.
-
Todays trial is at Cliffe Lane Cleckheaton NOT at Upper Green Farm as in TMX.
-
Me and NYL should be in attendence.
-
Looks like being just a little different this year!! Will have more news soon!

Yet again this topic has to be brought to the attention of riders. StuartC has a observer abused and insulted at a trial. Why!! because he has given a 5! I'm sorry but how do some riders expect Trials to continue in this climate. We are not Premiership footballers, the observer can be swayed if you ask but to abuse a volunteer especially in the conditions on Sunday is not permissable. I was out at West Leeds and due to problems couldn't take a position, however at Horsforth I was out there marking. Whenever I can I take a section which is difficult when My lad is attempting to climb to the hard route in only his fourth/fifth full year of riding I expect a little ribbing but some riders are to be honest taking the p1$$ expecting a clean to be marked when a five is clearly what they should have. At My age they tend not to argue, however when I am following NYL (slowly and usually in distress), I have felt the need to step in now and again. Fortunetly in the Yorkshire centre we do have experienced observers, Getting some to replace them in years to come may prove difficult if the attitude's StuartC's young observer came across persist. Chill out and remenber. If the observer gives you a 5 then your rivals probably will get one as well!!!!!!
P.S. What hell Am I doing here on break night at this time!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting, In standard form I'd say the Gas Gas has a big edge over the Sherco normally but Wiggy's bike is something else. NYL's bike has a few mods that make it better than the Standard bike and it has shown in recent trials, (Despite niggling cooling problems). NYL has noted that the bike in the Photo's didn't look like the bike Alex normally uses so perhaps Louis gained ground on Alex because of that. Having said that I think the conbination is the key. The better the bike "feels" the more a good rider can "use" it.

I'm sure we are all appalled by the actions of the riders abusing an observer, If you are not please come queue at my section at the next trial., perhaps the lad should have been aware of the "10" Rule:angry:
Stuart, please let Sue know of these riders, I'm pretty sure once back she'll be interested in knowing who they are else Mail me off forum and I'll make sure YG's next meeting has the information. I observed at Horsforth on Sunday and yet again not enough observers were available and only 8 out of ten sections were manned. I, like Bradford's and Richmond's volunteers was wet and cold but in this case every rider thanked me and a few chatted before going on their way. My daughter has expressed an intrest in coming out and "having a go". Lets say that If anybody came along and did what they did to this lad to my daughter they would not get away with it lightly. The privilege of riding in the Yorkshire centre may very well be taken away from these riders and they damn well deserve it!!!!!!
North Yorkshire Lad (my son) does get uptight about observing,(especially mine on sunday), but as I have said to him before, providing they are consistent for every rider then that's as fair as it can be, be polite and remember they don't have to do it!

Perhaps this explains a little (but not much!)

Learnt at todays West Leeds trial that Horsforth have had to move the club trial from Ramsgill to Stump Cross due to flooding.

Any news on this??? We are away the week before this and need some info on Venue, directions, Places to stay etc. This all came with the entry forms at the other rounds so am a little anxious that the confirmation and "programme" will arrive while we are away.

Well I've been filling the 125 up with Dexron III for a couple of months but the latest Motul stuff has me worried. The last lot went a pink colour from the red. I've drained that out and replaced it but it worries me. Anybody seen anything like this before????

Started hearing rumors of a new Beta Frame for 2007, if so which way are they going? Smaller or beefier for a four stroke?
-
If a TY80 is out then the Gas Gas is best. Can the lad ride already?? If not then any little auto Trials bike will do, just don't expect it to do a "real" trial. My lad was older so started to learn on a PW80 Yamaha and spent about 4 hours on that before learning how to use a clutch on a TY80. Do beginners and conducted only with him until he gets the idea.

Used to live off Broadgate Lane in the Woodville's!!!!
Over here you'd ask John Lampkin about the stator and get the Carb mod kit. Searching around R2w has a site with Tech pages on it which includes the Mod and an Address to send the Carb to(Cannot tell if it's a US or Aus address). The SSDT checklist just down the page also tells you how to find out if the Stator has been done, (something about yellow tape). The Carb mod stops fuel spilling out when the bike is stopped and the fuel tap is on. I know a couple of Beta 200 riders, Carli Sherwin and Ian Waddington have them and I know they are pleased with them. Check how Ian is doing on the SSDT Website. I know he rode the 200 there lastr year.

I have some thick Pipe insulation tie-wrapped on the upright and the front section of the rear wheel holder. Stops most marking.

Any of the bikes mentioned would do very nicely as would most Versions of the Scorpa 125/175. The trick is that if you roll the throttle too much they won't spit you off the back or perform a "loop" on you. Of the four The Gas Gas Pro is the lightest and needs a little more care in maintaining it in good condition but not stripping down every week! The Beta has a reputation of being very rugged but has had problems with the stator in the past, which has been fixed in the UK. It also requires a carb mod to stop fuel leaking out. If both mods are done then no problem! The Sherco was until the new model very similar in Frame design to the TXT Gas Gas. It Needs a good oil in the Petrol as the Bearings have only a small aperture for the oil to penetrate. We had no problems with a 125 using Castrol XR77. You also need to seal under the mudguard as it is the airbox cover. A bit of Draught proofing and Silicone seal works wonders.
The Beta and Gas Gas have adjustable suspension whereas the Sherco didn't, New Sherco's do have adjustment.
The problem is that Only Gas Gas and Beta still do 200's whereas the New Sherco is a Kit to increase the 125's capacity so the second hand market is probably the place to find these bikes.
Best thing to do is try a couple of bikes. Don't nescessary dismiss one because you didn't like one example either. Like car's some ride differently to others and a Well maintained but "Scruffy" bike could be better that that pristine bike that has never had an oil change.
-
And it isn't as noisy as the 4RT thankfully! I gather there are lots of bits to mod the carb including a fuel pump. The standard Rear sprocket makes the gearing a little low. According to the rider most sections could be ridden in third. When we saw it at Shibden the following day the rear sprocket had been taken down to 42 teeth.
-
Ok so anybody (else) here go and what did you think? My thoughts were that only one of the sections (Two on the hard course), caused a problem although the bow waves coming out of section 5 were impressive!!!. As a guide there is more land available further up the hill but it needs a bit of clearing.
-
One was out today At YG's Club trial at Shibden (No not the Challoner's). Was quite impressive although the front Mudguard needs lifting a bit.
-
Belay that!! Found it under "Trials News"
A & B Entry Form
-
Anybody know where the ACU form is. The sites as clear as mud and the search engine does'nt bring it up either.
-
Had a word with Phil At the A & B National and he said Carcroft is a dedicated facility for Motorcycle/quads. They are trying to attract Trials riders as well as Moto-X and Quad riders. Barnsley Club are holding trials there and helping them out by showing them what trials are about and how to set them out. The feeling was that it was a good trial and they will have a couple more there this year.

Got a lighting board but written on Number. Not been stopped yet But only a matter of time I S'pose. But how many Bicycle racks do you see without even a lighting board?
