    Yamaha Ty250

    Try Here .... JK Hirst
  2. I had a similar problem with my TY which turned out to be an air leak, either between the rubber manifold and the barrel or the carb and the rubber manifold. I don't know which one because I silcone sealed both areas at the same time and it fixed it.
  3. I dont know if it helps but if you read the additional notes on this item the fella says he has some Hiro parts for sale Hiro MX Bike - Ebay

    Engine Removal

In addition to the above 1) get a couple of clean plastic crates to put the bits you take off into 2) use some sticky tape to label parts you remove & cables you disconnect 3) take some time and think your way through the job first, try to spot the problems before you get to them 4) dont bodge, use the right spanners & allen keys 5) dont rush 6) have beer in fridge

    Honda Tlm220

This lot seem to import TLMs & may be able to help (no idea whatthey are like) Japan Bike Spares
  6. Strangely enough I must be in the one area in the SE that doesn't have a ban (good old Portsmouth water) but its the principle of operation of the water companies gets right up my nose ...
  7. If you were to pay for petrol in advance and then the bloke stopped you half way through and told you "sorry fuel shortage & by the way you can't have half your money back" would that be OK? On the other hand you pay water rates for the full service but get told you can't use a hose cos it didn't rain enough and they can't be bothered to fix their leaky pipes. That will encourage them to fix the problem then .... Still maybe when Fatty Two Sh@gs gets finished groveling to her indoors he will sort things out.
  8. Dont know how quiet a silencer you need but repacking the silencer you have may help.
  9. Slow action has a smaller diameter for the throtte cable to wrap around. This means more throttle action is required to open the carb fully. Gives you more control and stops you giving it a big handful and getting spat off the back (except in my case). You will find some range of oppinion on this site as to the value of getting a slow action throttle but it helped me (sort of) tame my Sherco 290. Cheers, Mike
  10. There are people on this forum who know far more than I do but my thoughts for what they are worth. There is not much wrong with the 2000 model Sherco but it has a different silencer than the 2001 onwards which makes it a bit different than the rest to look at and in my oppinion dates it & makes it a bit harder to sell. If you take a look at the classifieds on this site or in TMX you will find newer bikes for your money so before you part with that sort of cash make sure its a minter & runs well (or offer less & be prepared to walk away) As for what bike, its been said 100 times before, ride as many as you can & make your own mind up. They are all good, its just that some are a little more fragile than others. As for practice areas, sorry, your north of London and that well away from my part of the world, check out another thread on this site specifically on that subject. Whatever you get you will have a great time on it ....
  11. I Thought it was 24 hours to Tulsa
  12. If you remove the speedo drive you will need a spacer, also I think a 3/8 square drive ratchet from a socket set will fit in the end of the wheel spindle.
  13. Worthing Club have a novice & twin shock on the 14th Worthing Club Bognor have a club trial at Elsted on the 24th, there is also a Brighton club (sorry dont know their website) and also Horsham Riders Club (do a google on the name). They are all AMCA clubs and between them there is usually a trial most weekends in the East/West Sussex area. So far as MX boots are concerned, I (stupidly) bought some & am doing my best to wear them out so I can buy some proper trials Boots. Not great but they do the job so I can't see using what you have for a few trials being the end of world. Oh and the nearest shop is probably Merlin Motorcycles in Horsham, don't know what they are like as I have never been there

    Moto Gp

So Biaggi has no ride this year & Rossi has picked up his sponsor, suppose thats one Christmas card Rossi doesn't have to worry about sending
  15. I think it is simply a mechanism to showcase the sport in order to sell bikes. and that requires TV, which in turn needs to get as much coverage with as few cameras as possible (indoor). Its not co-incidental that there is a Montesa, Sherco, Beta and GasGas on the bill (I guess Scorpa don't want to play yet). At the end of the day if you want to promte the sport it's better to say "What I do on a Sunday isn't quite like that but ..." than "What I do is get out of bed early to drive to a wood, stand in the rain/mud while I sign on then spend the rest of the day riding into trees & falling off into puddles (in my case)before driving home and cleaning the bike . Like the man said, there's no such thing as bad publicity.
  16. I think my Pinkie had the 12 pointed star you talk about. If I recall I used a 3/4 inch ratchet drive. Failing that a square profile will fit into a 12 face internal so maybe get hold of a bit of stock steel rod, alternativly time to introduce the kids to the art of filing !
  17. Somehow seems appropriate ... A Welshman walks into his bedroom with a sheep under his arm and says: "Darling, this is the pig I have sex with when you have a headache." His girlfriend is lying in bed and replies: "I think you'll find that's a sheep, you idiot." The man says: " I think you'll find I wasn't talking to you."
  18. I recently replaced some spokes in my PE175 and had to remove some good spokes in order to thread the replacments in, that may be RichardS's question. If it is then three things to note (if the techno is similar). 1) You can take quite a few spokes out and the wheel will keep its shape. 2) Expect to break a few as the nipples will be rusted to the spoke when you remove them so make sure you get some extras. 3) Get pleanty of penetrating oil on the threads before you try to undo them. Best of luck ...

    Tubed Or Not

I had a IRC Tubeless (using a tube) on my TY Pinkie with no problems, pressure must have been as low as 3psi at times.
  20. Thanks Legs, I will pass your invitation onto my mate (he's one of your customers I think)
  21. Asking on behalf of a mate, is it possible to dismantle (cut ?) a Sherpa exhaust and repack it. If so how, and should both boxes be repacked ? Thanks in advance ... Mike
  22. Maybe he was just on his way to Elton Johns Hen Party when the picture was taken
  23. Be careful, looks like a cowboy outfit to me
  24. Oven Cleaner with caustic soda in I would guess, suggest you do a small test if you go the caustic soda route, high concentrations can be quite agressive on aluminium.
  25. The Mick Andrews DVD is ok in terms of information but its just the video dumped to DVD, and makes no use at all of the facilities a DVD might provide. Suggest the other DVDs mentioned are slightly better value.
