    Valencia GP

I missed the Moto GP too, but was blown away by the Moto 2 race - ive never watched the Moto 2 championship before - it was awesome, edge of the seat stuff - much better than GP - Moto 2 for me from now on. (having said that - i am looking forward to seeing Rossi on a Ducati )
  3. Thats the number i have too. You could try email - from the advert in the gazette its trialspark@aol.com its close to the Church in Corton - spookily i think its called Church lane ! Can recommend the Norwich Vikings and their beginners & wobblers trials, which are very good - the next is on 5th December. good luck! Caddabs
  4. Just occured to me - one of these is really handy. you can get the rear wheel off the ground. makes life much easier. Good luck !! Paddock stand
  5. Great news Ben - glad you got it home ok. I cant answer all of your questions, but here are a few (bear in mind i've only been riding 1 year too!!); 1. A 4l can is fine, thats all i usually take with me.I leave mine in one of those green plastic things, and if i dont use it after a few weeks i put it in the lawnmower. Bit of a waste of oil i know, but the mower smells great! 2. I run my Sherco on 80:1. I started at 50:1 and had a few issues, since switching its all been fine. Use a good sythetic oil. i use this one. oil 3. need to see the chain really - the chain tensioner will take up the slack. doesnt sound too bad. You should use some proper chain lube. 4. Good set of allen keys, metric spanners & sockets, long screwdriver, etc should all be fine. be careful if you are tightening bolts into engine cases - they can strip easily. maybe a torque wrench? (Christmas not far off !) A low pressure tyre gauge is on my Christmas list. i guess its an essential, but at my level i have tended to concentrate on riding rather than worrying about tyre pressure. Not sure a bike pump is up to it, but never tried. i have a track stand pump. 5. cant comment on a Montesa choke. Mine is hidden away in a ridiculously tight spot under the tank. i have tied a cable tie to it to make it easier to find. there is a bit of adjustment in it (ie its not a switch) Check the fluids (water) and that the fan works ok. Keep an eye on the water level regularly. Might be worth checking there is oil in the clutch too (as its an unkown) Best of luck and hope to see you on the trails soon - perhaps i could borrow your tyre gauge?
  6. Nice one Andy - bit too long to watch it all at the moment, but will do later. Fascinating subject, but maybe its just because we live near Bentwaters? Would be interesting to hear what Charles Holt has to say. Saw some Witches last week - but they were at a speedway track !
  7. I put "Hijo de puta" into Google translate, pressed play and nearly spat tea over my PC On a more serious note as a newbie that sounds awful behaviour, and i would be annoyed if i had taken my child to watch and witnessed it. Not only that but it is hugely disrespectful to observers, as without them we would all be twiddling our thumbs on a Sunday. I hope the appropriate body takes action, and that it doesnt set a precident for the future, as it would be a great shame if Trials went down a similar route to Sunday football, where it seems fair game to be abusive to the referee. Not nice - lets keep it as we all want it. Caddabs
  8. Hey Ben - I was in your shoes this time last year and "Wherry" was a fantastic help to me and really got me started. Have had some great fun on the Beginners & Wobblers trials and would thoroughly recommend it. All being well i will be there on the 5th, and would be very happy to meet up and go round with you. PM me if you'd like to meet up. If you havnt sorted any transport yet i can recommend the Dave Cooper racks. you will find loads on teh forum. they are very good. Good luck Caddabs
  9. Love mine too, and also use them for walking the mutt. i have on a couple of occasions found that when riding, i have tried to adjust my foot position on the footrest to find that my foot wouldnt move, due to the sole being caught on the peg, this has caused me to lose balance and dab uneccesarily. its happened twice (that my story - honest) but otherwise at my level, until i get better, a good boot, and keeps you nice and dry walking the furry friend too.
  10. great post - thanks. i really miss my '74 Hi-Boy, i swapped it for a TL125 when i was 16 - the foolishness of youth ! fantastic wheelies at the end. makes me think of the original "on any sunday" with McQueen on his Husky. I sooooo want to go and ride now !!
  11. I have a 2000 290 and i love it. i paid
  12. No idea on the Honda, but what an awesome trial park! would love a ride round there.
  13. I was watching Moto GP yesterday and couldnt help but look in puzzlement at the A style logo. is it just me or is the logo 2 people s*agging? A style Logo
  14. Hi there - welsome & best of luck with the Cota. Are you in East Anglia? There are some good clubs here and very friendly folk so maybe see you on the trail someday? All the best - Caddabs

  18. Thanks chaps - much appreciated. i suspect i might have bought a Cheapie which i hope doesnt turn out to be a false economy. hadnt realised they were all different. Maybe a Jitsie for the Christmas list !!? best wishes Caddabs
  19. Hi Chaps - was reading your thread and wondered if i could ask a stupid question (or two?) I have just bought a basic replacement filter and am not sure whether i should oil it both sides or just the outside? I rode it Sunday and the inside had collected dust which i could easily tap out, but should i be oiling the inside which might make it harder to tap out the dust. Should i be washing it out completely in petrol every so often and re-oiling? (i'm using Motul). Have i wasted my money on a cheap one when i should have bought a 2 stage dual filter? Thats 3 questions - sorry. Neo - hope the clutch is still working well. Cant find that Aussie oil over here in blighty so not been able to try it. all the best - Caddabs
  20. Pete - i have just picked up your thread and its a shame the forum has been cancelled as some interesting points have been made. I am not sure if you are anything to do with the ACU or whether they are reading this(?) but perhaps rather than having a meeting, which a lot of people will find difficult to attend and/or daunting (for us newbies), why not have some sort of webdebate or consultation? in my day-job we often have to participate in consultation exercises where a body asks a question and we might be given 2 weeks to respond. Couldnt the ACU do something similar starting with basic questions such as "how could entries be improved, is the capacity level right" etc etc and give members a week or two to respond? this can be bolied down to "live" issues and fine tuned to get some positive input. I think they might find that a better way to gauge responses than a meeting. if anyone agrees with me, perhaps it could be suggested to the ACU? Just a thought - back to the shed......

    Gear Oil Milky!

I had this problem with my Sherco recently. Cant speak for Beta's but if its the same as a Sherco its water getting in through the seal into the gearbox oil and emulsifying with the oil. you need to change the seal around the water pump. check the water level in the radiator, my guess is it will have dropped. be cautious if you ride it - best to get it fixed. water & clutch plates not a happy combo. I'm sure other Beta riders can offer more advice than this, but it sounds exactly the problem i had. no idea what the knock is i'm afraid. Good luck.
  22. Hi - it looks very nice, but have a quick sweep of the bike specific Gas Gas part of this site, or maybe pop a post on there and you are likley to get a better response. I dont know enough about Gas Gas to advise, but it looks good. From my (limited) experience decent bikes seem to pop up and go quite quickly. I bought mine on a "buy now" without looking at it (which i wouldnt recommend) although i did give the guy a call, i cant say i asked too many searching questions, but sometimes you can just get the measure of the people you are dealing with. i guess one thing you should be wary of is whether its stolen? again, a quick phone call and a few questions on history might help. I was relatively lucky, although a buddy of mine bought one on ebay (a bit cheaper) which turned out to be a bit of a dog, so ideally have a look. If it needs new tyres allow
  23. Hi - just to pass on a few of my recent findings if that helps. I was lucky enough to buy my Sherco for
  24. Totally agree - keep the rear wheel vertical and strapped to the post with a small strap, then tie down the rest. i do mine slightly differently to Fivemeister, but that method seems to make sense too. stick a small strap round the ront mudguard too - stops it flapping about in the wind! ive also put some pipe lagging on the vertical post - helps keep the wheel vertical. dont forget your number board too !!
