Steve,
I rode a 240 in 91' one of the green one's and I loved it could'nt fault it at all , but I tried a 280 like you were riding in the vid and I could'nt ride the bloody thing at all infact the only gear that I could make it grip in was 4th slipping the clutch, and it had the power to pull it.
I have to say it was quite good fun trying to hang on to it but in the tight sections I was hopeless!
Like you I reverted back to the old faithfull TY Pinky, from one extreme to the other you might say but it was a doddle to ride.
-
Thank you! I think that all don"t understand me. And why I won"t be Russian anywhere with that gearing?
Sorry to confuse you my friend, I fully understand you it was just my sense of humour and don't worry it is often misunderstood welcome to TC I hope you enjoy your stay.
-
Greetings comrade,
your English is a lot better than my Russian, nice bike but you won't be Russian anywhere with that gearing!
Asta la vista!

The only comparison you can make is a dab is still a dab and a five is still a five and they takes some bloody getting back when you've had one!
Forgive my ignorance Perce but is it still a mark for every 2 mins or is it back to a mark for every minute?
Couldn't help but notice how dry it looked at the weekend it looks like it could be pretty quick if the weather stays like this!
-
BINGO!
Hope you can make it out, it's the best I can do with a scan and resizing etc...
-
Don't let the B******S grind you down you are appreciated its just the only negative side to forums it gives people the opportunity to have a dig and constructive critisism can be very helpful its jst that some people like to stick the knife in and twist it!
-
i agree that schrieber was at the start of it but Tarres took it all to a new height. If you watch his training video's now, 10 years after they were made, it is still impressive and Raga, Bou etc are using the same techniques as he perfected... they just do it more and at greater height!!! I think Tarres was the start of the cross over from cycle trials techniques.... lovely to watch.
Yes I must agree R2 I still have a copy of the first video he made on the TR34 it was mighty impressive, as was his first customised motorhome thats what I meant about bringing the circus to town. Thats why its such a logistical nightmare for the planning of WTC events, no tranny vans anymore spactators now have bigger motorhomes than his first truck/motorhome.
-
Eddy Lejeune. True Legend.
Mart. Forcefull, made it happen.
Steve Saunders, best rider never to be World Champion.
Jordi. True Professional, he brought the circus to town.
Fuji. 10/10 for Perseverance.
Doug. Hungry, focussed PERFECT!
As for Jordi changing the way trials bikes were ridden I think Bernie the bolt had a big hand in that.

Two words spring to mind Thin and Ice!
I wonder which two words spring to HL's mind?
-
Peekaboo Street, now you are talking talent!
Have a good weekend guys.

My Dad used to bore the little TL125'S out to 180cc using apiston out of a 350 twin he had to open the crankcases out too for obvious reasons but it made a cracking little bike especially in a Miller High Boy frame, infact they were quite competitive much better than the big heavy TL 250.
-
Put some WD40 on them and leave them overnight and try again tomorrow.
If it still won't free I have sometimes managed to get away with mole grips and spoke key and as a last resort remove the wheel and hold the spoke in a vice but use some alluminium soft jaws in the vice to protect the spoke.
If it still won't budge or if it hasn't snapped yet, buy a new spoke and nipple and cut the old one out and replace.
-
Yep,
all this from 'A STORY' about your mate and his bear a***!
-
Yep must agree BJ,
No matter how many times this subject crops up it always stirs up a lot of interest probably because there is that element of myth surrounding all the works Honda trials bikes, everybody adds their bit most of which is hearsay no disrespect to anyone I'm as guilty as anyone for adding my 2 pennies worth, its a bit like a jigsaw with some of the pieces missing. But if you were around to witness the likes of Rob, Hattori, Eddy and Steve ride these wonderfull machines or have ever been lucky enough to own an RTL or any model for that matter it gets into your blood and I honestly don't know any other bike that has this effect on so many people.
Or am I just crackers?
-
Hi,
seat could be re-covered by this firm, ex trials riders 1st class job!
http://www.motorcycleseatworks.co.uk/home.html
Is it like this one with the green tank?
Could be wrong about this but I think it should have a 26mm BING carb??

-
Sorry I know it was a stupid question but I just did'nt think the cases were painted I always thought it was some kind of special coating put on to protect the magnesium.
-
yeah yeah Pinnochio!
moderation is a word that does'nt exist up in T T Teesside! its all or nothing.
On the subject of Pinnochio!
One night, Pinnochio's girlfriend says to him,"This stinks. Every time we make love I get splinters."
So Pinnochio goes to Gepetto to ask his advice. Gepetto says, "Sandpaper my boy, thats all you need."
A few days later Gepetto runs into Pinnochio and says, "So how are you doing with the girls now?"
"Who needs girls?" Pinnochio replied.

-
OHHH YES!
Should probably leave it a bit nearer May, and continue this thread but rename it 'Tales from the Fort'
or maybe just let sleeping dogs lie!
To use one of Andys lines "What goes on in the Fort, stays in the Fort!!!!!!"
-
Ralph,

-
