Yes of course they are I didnt read your thread correctly sorry!
You should'nt have to cut anything of the airbox just squeeze the thin steel bracket together slightly to allow it to slide forwards 12mm.
Also, inlet mod only on my bike,if I remember correctly I did'nt do any re-jetting just a bit of fine tuning with the needle height and airscrew etc, the result was the engine revved out much higher and much cleaner, not as rich as the standard barrel.
As you say it 'leaned' it up.
(the bike I did was a white framed TY 89' not a pinky but as far as I can remember the airboxes are the same on both, could be wrong though but if I am misleading you I apologise.)

Hi Tobster,
I presume you are talking about a TY mono?
If so I remember doing this mod to mine in about 90' and if I remember correctly I shortened the inlet by 12mm and still managed to use the standard carb/airbox rubber connector just by fitting a 12mm spacer between the back of the airbox where it fasten's to the frame (moving the airbox forward)and tweaking the pressed steel bracket on the top of the airbox that holds it to the two top tubes of the frame.
Hope this makes some sense to you.

Yep, good en' HL or as Ishy would say "reet gud thred flour!"
-
Okay,
before the first days results are announced by HL,who do you think will be the winner at the end of the week?
I'm going for Amos on the 4RT, lets see if a fourstroke can be victorious again in this great event.
Come on Amos keep yer feet up!
............(or young Hemmo)

Welcome aboard TLR Tryalsman!
unfortunatly there has'nt been that much action in the Honda category just recently but I have no doubt something will come up before too long, but there is some really ineresting reading and pictures if you search back through it all.
-
Hi,
I think the chap you are talking about is John Quaye 01624 853031, not sure wether he has lots of spares though, good luck
-
As you say, a GENUINE pre 65 Scottish bike!
Probably one of the only bikes in the whole entry that has actually competed in the Scottish Six Days Trial, let alone WIN IT! (1963).
It would be nice to see 'XON 688' win again, but it is a lot to ask when it is up against all those 'MICKEY MOUSE' bikes that are nearly as up to date as Doug's 4RT, go on Griffo give it your best shot!
-
Bruce Rushton ex sidecar ace did some for me and did a top job!
Based in Nelson, not sure if he still does though, Sandifords will know, give em a ring on 01282 428383

Can't ever remember seeing one of these in Silsden, maybe it never made it to our shores.
-
Not a hope, but I'll bet you TY80's will be!
-
Perce,
In my opinion they are one of the best trials bikes ever built!
How many World Champions/British Champions/Scott Trial/SSDT Winners learnt there trade on one of those little beauties?
They may not be the most 'trendy' looking bikes out there but I'm sure you will agree that all the basic skills needed to be modern day trials rider can still be lear'nt/taught on a little Yammy 80.
-
Help guys,
what would you do with a genuine 'Comerfords cub', my dilemma is do I restore it back to former glory or do I go all modern using all the trick bits now available.I am fully aware that it is not competitive in its original trim but would it still be desirable as I don't think there are that many around any more.At the end of the day they are only a converted 'Mountain Cub' but as rough as they are they are still part of 'Triumphs' famous trialing history.

Brilliant reference book, especially if you live in a time warp like me,all the top men on all the top machines.Only had the book one day and I'm already looking forward to the next one, bloody good effort fellas 10/10
-
Perce,
brilliant rider and engineer Clive Smith from Trawden converted his Bulto to mono in the mid/late 80's and rode it bloody well embarassing a lot of riders (in and around the Yorkshire centre) on more modern bikes like TY's,Betas, and Fantics etc,is this the same bike you are talking about?
