I'm with Big John on this.
I understand that Colin Seeley had a batch of larger tank and seat units made to hold more petrol for the bikes used in the Scottish in 1980.(Lejeune and Hattori)
I can remember seeing a larger volume tank/seat unit for sale in TMX years ago, it could be one of those, in which case I would say yes it is pretty rare
-
I seem to remember that CR125'S used the same callipers, I know this because the RTL rear pads used to cost
-
Its a side stand and tyre on the RTL parked next to it, it puzzled me at first too.
-
Really nice example tlrs.
As you are a Honda expert, our Seeley was bought brand new in 82 from
'Vale Onslow's' and it was fit with Marzocchi rear shocks and white preston petty mudgaurds as standard but didn't have the black plastic sump guard.
Have you seen one like this before?
It was one of the very early ones, they had it in the shop for ages they just couldn't sell it due to the high price.
-
Priceless!
It looks like they have oil coolers fitted and the Rothmans bike looks like it has a very deep silencer, are they 'ex Works bikes by any chance'
Tell me more please!!!!!!
-
Great collection.
Can we have some individual shots especially the one at the far end,and the RTL in Rothmans colours
-
Is Johnboy on an SWM or a FANTIC ?

:hat:
Standard Seeley Marzocchi rear shockers measure 14" between centres.
Some Brand new Girling Gas shocks minus springs just sold on Ebay that would have gone straight on, I nearly bought them myself as they are really 1st class units.
(I think these were fit as standard on the very last bikes.)

Ishy these are the best stats I can come up with (what is it with Isherwoods and statistics, the 'butcher'is keen on stats aswell, vital statistics!)
Entries 201
Starters 185
Finishers 27
Milage approx 60
Standard Time 4h 15m 21s
I will try and post the original trial report from 'MOTOR CYCLE' magazine so you can read it for yourself, enjoy!
-
I believe that this is the full list of finishers, as it was a particularly hard trial due to the weather conditions!
-
-
I'll have a look through my old fellas library! he's got piles of them and all the old 'Motor Cycle' magazines from that era so I'll have a dig through them and see what I can find!
-
Yes I am aware of all Graham's Scott results and I am not belittling any of them, I just thought I would post the old results as it is 'SCOTT FEVER TIME'
-
-
-
Having just studied the Scott analysis and stats posted by Andy (great coverage Andy cheers ) I must congratulate Graham on his winning ride as sixteen marks lost on observation is really remarkable.Having ridden the Scott myself some years ago I have the upmost respect for anybody just finishing the trial not to mention winning it!
I know it is impossible and wrong to compare modern day trials with those of years ago but while the Scott is still fresh in the air I thought I would post this set of results from 1962 as 'Sammys' win at the time was widely regarded as one of the greatest wins of all time.
What do you think guys and girls?
Sorry about the quality of the scans but they are 43 years old.
To follow

I seem to remember that Steve Jewitt and his father Colin from the North East Yorkshire area also had something to do with either selling, importing or distributing them at the time?
Who was the 'works' rider, was it Lluis Gallach ?
-
-
No!
I just appreciate the fact that this bloke has started a project and seen it through right to the finish, and okay he might not have used all the latest parts but the fact is he's done it. most people these days can't even change a tyre, so credit where credit's due and good luck to him.
'BIKESPACE' more like waste of space.
-
I quite like it too, 10/10 for effort.
-
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!!!!!
-
One for you Big John! I don't think you will need it explaining but here goes.
