cota kid
Although a committed Middlesbrough fan. (interestlingly enough MFC played more games than any other top flight club last season) I cannot see anyone taking the title from Chelsea. The battle for runner up spot and who gets relegated are more interesting. As for Boro, A UEFA cup place at the end of the season would be brilliant and a trip to Wembley fantastic. Thats if Multiplex get it finished.
ham2
Liverpool could just sneak the Premiership....but speaking as a Magpie I think Southgate has got relegation written all over him...hard cheese old boy!

I can't see Glen Roeder leading the underachievers to much either......what with Owen out for the season. We may go down but we'll still finish above the skunks. I will have to bow to your superior knowledge here, but when was the last time the smoggies finished above the Toon?
cota kid
2004 -2005 season We finished 7th and in a UEFA Cup spot. The Toon finished 14th. Whilst you finished above us last season, the fact we got to the semi final of the FA Cup and were runners up in the UEFA Cup to me that means we had a more successful season. ham2
Was that the only season? out of how many? I am not a Premiership stato so I'll take your word on that. Anyhow-just to prove my point about Southgate-what was your result today?? An ex defender now manger who's team let in 3 after being 2 up! ...OOPS! Can you see the writing on the wall ? Everyone else can. Southgate must be typing away now: Memo to Gibson :-Priority---'' Must find 3 other teams worse than us'' . Good luck ,you are going to need it. cota kid
Unlike the directors at Newcastle, Gibson is no mug and its obvious he has seen something special in Southgate. I feel a bit sorry for Roeder, the Newcastle job is probably more of a poison chalice than the England job. Great expectations on Tyneside. We have not had the best of starts to the season but Reading was always going to be tricky. Boro also had a good goal disallowed for offside, but thats football for you. We'll probably go and beat Chelsea at the Riverside this Wednesday. Boro have a lot of good local talent coming through. At the last game of last season they played 15 English players in the squad and 14 of them were born within 30 miles of the Riverside. dr nick
I hope Liverpool can win it, being a fan . There might be one or two suprises to get relegated this year.....Newcastle anyone ???????
bikespace
Well the Boro were looking good at first today - Downing has done my fantasy football team no end of good...but then it all went wrong. What happened Cota Kid? I'm sure I could hear the groans of the Riverside from 10 miles away. Can't believe I left Bent sat on the bench, and played Heskey to get booked. Can't see anyone touching Chelsea again this year. Aston Villa to give them a fright this year, then their new yank investors to bring some big guns in next year - well maybe not 3-1 against Man City tomorrow I reckon

exiled yorkshireman
hmmmmm...... boro 0 portsmouth 4 the words "$hit creek" and "without a paddle" spring to mind. Could be a difficult season for you old bean. Speaking as a lifelong sheffield wednesday i am well qualified to talk about poor teams, crap managers , even worse boards of directors and seasons where avoiding relegation is seen as success...its enough to send you stark raving mad prem...? its chelsea's to lose i think
cota kid
I got to see, altough I wish I hadn't, the Boro v Portsmouth game in a bar off the ramblas in Barcelona. Funny thing was Boro were on the big screen and Celta Vigo v Barca was on the small tv. We had more possession, more shots on goal, they had 6 and scored 4. I'm not complaining as thats football for you. I once saw Boro beat Man City 1 nil without have a shot on goal.
