overthehill
Sundays GP was fantastic television - (if you must be stuck in the house on a Sunday rather than riding your bike) Capirossi was awsome and left Rossi standing - its good to see a Ducati win but the best racing was the Rossi/Pedrossa battle - it was real racing with both bikes going sideways into corners ath 150mph so close that they looked as if they were touching. - the Doctor was having to work for his second spot went out on the MTB after - it seemed a bit slow
manx2day
I do have to agree, the race on tv was good but it doesn't beat being there in person. The whole weekend was fantastic and recommend it to anyone. We were at the end of the stadium section, through all the natural banking, the noise was emense and the atmousphere was brilliant. Capirossi was excellent but most of that lead was down to his traction control off the start!!! The racing down the field was good too, some good overtaking! I'll tell you what...us Manxies definately made an impression...especially on Randy Mamola...what a t***. Say no more. Definately an experience to be experienced! Cheap beer, cheapest...12p a pint!!! manx2day
We were at a Riders for Health Charity doo (he is the chairman or president or whatever) at the Brewery in Brno and he was there telling us his life story...at the end a few auestions were asked. One of them being from an Irish contingent..."What do you think of Joey Dunlop?" He turned round to us, knowing we were from the Isle of Man and said "no offence but i don't like the TT"...so we heckled him!!! He got very abusive and had to be held back by his minder before he came to hit someone! It was very funny but at the end of the day, he was too scared to ride here, thats why doesn't agree or like it!! To be fair, i think you would of had to be there! Thought he was on ok guy but after that...i don't!
scorpa3
I must say, I can understand someone being too scared to race the Island circuit. I look back on my racing days and think I must have been mad. Joey Dunlop was incredible. I was on a fast (for me) lap on my 1000 proddy bike in 2000, I knew I could take the end of the Cronk-y-Voddy straight flat in top, but every time I just drew back at the very last moment. On this particular lap, I was determined to keep it flat... and so nearly did, but sure enough right at the last split second the wrist just unwound that tiny bit and that was just enough to let Joey pass. I thought I was on the limit but Joey had enough space to overtake. I kept him in view too.. for maybe three miles! All the time I was watching, he looked so smooth, he really wasn't trying. By Kirk Michael he was gone. A genius and truly missed.
