leggins
My rev 250 has been causing me unwanted headaches. The last couple of times out I have had a hell of a job getting it started from cold. When it dose start it coughs and pops like a good un. The plug has been oiled up when removed. I am using a mix of 100 cc to 5L is this too rich ? When I replace the plug with a new one it seems to do the trick for a short while then its back to square one . My main concern is when the bike is ticking over it pops constantly unlike other rev 3s Ive listened too...... Any ideas ? p.s I have done the carb mods on r2w ,s site
neonsurge
100cl to 5L is 50:1 which is very rich. Try and 80:1 mix and see how it goes (I've heard of people running up to 100:1 with fully synthetic oil but I don't think I'd try it!) barrybaines
75:1 is a good ratio which is 67ml of oil too 5 litres but if your like me and not that anal over the measurement anywhere between 60 and 75ml of oil per 5 litres is good
scorpa3
My 04 did that for about 15 minutes then the stator packed in...... Then five trials later the new stator did the same.

slapshot 3
What a shower..... Bit of choke, ONE kick, on 70:1 with Silky 2t.....piece of pi$$...though not in with the petrol obviously. Seriously when I got it I put a new plug in and blew through the carb before I kicked it over cos the guy I got it from had problems too. ....maybe it's weight behind the kick.... like the new avatar Barry, (ps she won't let me buy superflous spares........sorry mate) Edited August 20, 2006 by Slapshot
betarick
Belive me theres plenty of weight behind kick my 97 techno went ever 2nd or 3rd kick and that had plenty of compression as i rebuilt engine

That might be because it is (flooded). I had exactly the same problem on my old bike and tried everything to cure it (carb, electrics etc. etc.) to no avail. Then, when I took the engine out to be rebuilt I noticed fuel dripping constantly dripping from the hose, even with the fuel tap off. A seal inside the tap was buggered... you can see where this is going. One quick call to Lampkins to order a new tap and the problem was sorted! kinell
Mine started 1st kick last week after being stood for over 3 months! I use 75ml of 'PJ1 Silverfire' oil per 5 litres of ordinary (stale?) unleaded petrol. Turn fuel tap on, choke on, one full turn of the throttle and kick it with a smidge of open throttle
