gaff
An 85/86 RTL250S that i've seen has an Oil-cooler fitted to the top-left of the left-hand down tube, and also i remember that the works bikes (270cc) also had these. Do they help ? Are they still available ?? or is there any substitutes that would do the same job ??? Just curious. Gaff.
charliechitlins
I seem to remember a power steering cooler from some American car that was readily available and cheap. Oldsmobile maybe. About 2.5" wide 1.25" deep and 8" long...if memory serves.
toofasttim
Reckon so. I remember Nick Jefferies early RTL 306 (not 360) getting so hot it took the coating off the barrel in the IOM 2 day. That being said it's probably more neccessary in hotter climates. Ish, what say you?
the artist formerly known as ish
Oil cooler. yes it does help, also gives the bikes a little more oil capacity as they don't hold much standard. It was an option the oil cooler set part number 06150-NN0-700 My bike does have one on so I will go and take a picture and post it under this topic
the artist formerly known as ish
Keep in mind the downpipe is different with the oilcooler for clearance

gaff
Cheers guys, especially Ishy, the 85/86 i have seen has the oil-cooler rather crudely bolted to the out-side of the left down-tube, and not inside out of the way like yours. Is yours an 88 ? I was thinking about putting one on my 87, if i can get hold of one ! Gaff.
