All time trials hero: Mr Tyre Left himself, Martin Lampkin, loved the style, the agressive way he rode.

Currentish (last 10 yrs): Doug obviously, but Jordi definately had something special, could watch him all day and not get bored.

Future: Tony Bou is great but I think the UK has the future sewn up in young Wiggy, from what I've seen he has an amazing raw talent as good as Doug had really hope he get's the chance to excel

Eddy Lejeune. True Legend.

Mart. Forcefull, made it happen.

Steve Saunders, best rider never to be World Champion.

Jordi. True Professional, he brought the circus to town.

Fuji. 10/10 for Perseverance.

Doug. Hungry, focussed PERFECT!

As for Jordi changing the way trials bikes were ridden I think Bernie the bolt had a big hand in that.

i agree that schrieber was at the start of it but Tarres took it all to a new height. If you watch his training video's now, 10 years after they were made, it is still impressive and Raga, Bou etc are using the same techniques as he perfected... they just do it more and at greater height!!! I think Tarres was the start of the cross over from cycle trials techniques.... lovely to watch.

Yes I must agree R2 I still have a copy of the first video he made on the TR34 it was mighty impressive, as was his first customised motorhome thats what I meant about bringing the circus to town. Thats why its such a logistical nightmare for the planning of WTC events, no tranny vans anymore spactators now have bigger motorhomes than his first truck/motorhome. :D

My question is, why don't I like Raga? I can't put my finger on it!

Just looking back over the post's on this thread, no one has put Raga :P . Hes won back to back World Championships and no one rates him  Weird that aint it .

I think everyone rates Raga, you'd have to be blind not to, but no one rates him as much as he rates himself. The impression I get is the once well liked young man has grown up into someone who needs a XXXXXXXXXXXXXL Airoh.

I can't wait to see this years Chrismas card.

  • 3 weeks later...

My favourite rider (after Dougie of course  ) is Bou, he rides with real style, and puts in a really good effort, he also isn't afraid to put in risky moves which look really good.

To be honest I think that when you watch people riding gassers they just don't seem to have the style and flare that some of the other bikes have (thats entirely my opinion, i reckon it's the suspension :wall::wall: ), Raga rides too safely I think, just rides straight through sections rather than taking crazy exciting lines.

Is that just me? :wall::wall:

It is difficult to explain what I mean really.
