steviec
Guys Just fitted a new set of chain and sprockets to my 05 Beta. Sprockets are standard tooth sizes, Talon 41 rear 11 front, Regina 520 chain Problem I have is the new chain seems to be too long with the standard number of links in(50), but too short with 1 link removed. With all the links in I had to set the cam adjusters at full, and there was still plenty of slack, with 1 link out I couldn't even get the chain close to getting the split link in even with the wheel and cam adjusters fully forward. I've measured the old chain and that had 49 full links.? Any ideas or am I missing something, like a clue? Cheers Steve
seandellear
Hi The pld chain will have stretched quite abit over time so That is why it fits with 49 links but sorry I can't help you with getting the new to fit! sean
the addict
Should be able to buy a 1 and a half link for the Regina chain, should sort the problem out
paul w
may sound obvious , but have you chocked the chain tensioner down?
steviec
Cheers for the replies lads Paul, not sure what you mean by the chain tensioner, isn't it on a spring which should put tension onto the chain. You've got me wondering now whether the chain tensioner is working properly Steve
j@mes
i thought it was 42 rear sprocket standard. as betarev3 said you can get half links for regina chain. that will sort it out
paul w
you need to hold down the chain tensioner about 50 to 60mm away from the bottom of the swinging arm, so the chain has its shortest possible distance between the bottom of the sprockets, when the chain is linked up correctly you should adjust the tensionerto the correct distance from the arm (20mm?), if the sprockets are std size and the chain the correct lengthyou shouldnt need to alter anything. gasgasssser
I Had exactly the same problem with my sherco.Get your self an half link. When the new cchain stretches, just remove the half link. My mate bought a brand new sherco. On close inspection,it had a half link fitted. Steve
steviec
Brilliant lads I'll give the shop where I bought the chain from a go first, if that fails it'll BVM. Glad you had the same problem R2W, I thought I was going nuts. Steve
