2 Bike Rack ?

I guess this is asking a bit much for a Rover 200 but would buy any chance it be able to take a 2002 Beta 250 and a TY80. Read on a recent post about a rack Bernie Schreiber had for a corvette which was for two bikes.

I would say not a cat in hells chance. I've got a Sherco 290 and my lad's got a TY80.

It may be just the size difference makes it more awkward, but the TY80 actually seems heavier when lifting it on to the trailer ;)

I've often thought about a Landrover/Rangerover with a 2 bike rack where the bikes mount horizontally (like usual), but I would'nt have thought that any normal car would hack it (so much more leverage with the extra 2ft overhang.

Were Bernie's mounted up the back window along side each other. I seem to remember a trials book with a Mk2 Cortina with this sort of rack. Don Smiths or Sammy Miller's maybe?

As any one who has seen an American car in the flesh will tell you, there's a major difference between them and europen cars. So no, I dont' think it would be a good idea. You could still tow a trailer with a rack on though.

We have a Rover 25 1.6 with a Dave cooper which manages the Sherco 125 but the added weight would take the rack over the limit. It would make the handling awkward as well. I can feel the lighter front end even when I raise the rear tyres 5PSI.

Strange thing I still can't put the plastic "bung" in to the front wheel end as the Sherco isn't long enough to extend the arm out!

thought so and its a small car. Just a thought as it would be my mum driving and reversing be easier with a bike rack. As for weight Betas seems heavier when lifting on to stand. Bikespace the picture would be cool to see.

If you already have a one-bike rack on the back why not put another receiver on the front and put a second rack up there.

I have done this with a full-size Ford van and with a Ford Expedition, so I can vouch that it works fine with at least some big vehicles. Just make sure you get it at the right height so you can see over it and so the headlights aren't blocked.

On the van it was only a $20 job, welding a receiver tube onto the frame. For the Expedition they make a front bolt-on receiver (made to attach a winch), so this was more expensive, but probably stronger.
