darlo
Hi, What are the steps for removing the waterpump/kickstart side case on an 03 270 Rev 3.? Can I leave the pump & hoses on and undo the case bolts and lift the whole cover off to check OR do I have to remove the pump etc first. Thanks. P.S. Good luck to all the SCOTT Trial entrants. I rode it in '82, '83 & '84 and still have great memories about it.
neonsurge
You'll have to remove the hoses I'm afraid but it's pretty easy: 1. Remove skid plate, kickstart and gear lever. 2. Drain coolant. 3. Remove water pump cover. 4. Remove impeller assembly. 5. Remove case bolts and off she comes! When reassembling, it's probably a good idea to use one of the paper-type gaskets instead of the rubber ones (which tend to allow the case to move during big hits to the skid plate which then causes oil leaks). Hope this helps!
bob
Don't forget to drain the gearbox oil aswell. Whilst you have that rubber block out which goes under the gearbox, it might be a good idea to cut out the section which blocks off the bottom bolt which holds the casing on. This way the bolt can be easily checked. Bob
