grasshopper
Why am I having so many dramas with tubeless rear tyres? Leaking valve seats, leaking rim tape, immpossible to inflate - it's all happening to me! Are there any great tips to help me get a good rear tyre setup? pandelboy
either buy a new rim tape and valve and fit dry with patience after putting dabs of silicone on nipple heads and leave toset or silicone the whole well including the rim tape and leave to set for a couple of days. sdc
Remove the valve & rim tape, thoroughly clean the wheel and with plenty of tyre soap (not fairy liquid or anything else) fit the rim tape. It will easily pop into position under the lip of the rim, there is no need to seal with silicone. Re-fit the valve with silicone, use plenty of tyre soap on the tyre and fit. Remove the valve core and with a forecourt air line and a bit of fiddling the tyre will inflate and push out to the bead.
aj201280
If you are still struggling to get the tyre on to the bead it may be because it has been lying on its side or had items on top when delivered if you put a tie down strap round the tyre just to push the side walls out onto the edge of the rim that normally helps if using a ratchet one stic a pice if old rubber under the metal ratchet as i have seen them tear blocks of new tyres when peop do it. grasshopper
Thanks to all those who gave me some advice. Sammy Miller's have fitted my rear tyres (mine and the wifes) and they are now perfect. I'll try it myself when I come to change a rear tyre.....
