mad4it
Sounds silly but check the simple things first . change the plug and disconnect the kill switch these can give these symptoms believe it or not. i doubt it will be the stator these tend to either work or not. Then the coil sounds electrical though!
pattonfamily
If its heat related, its more likely to be the stator than the coil. If its heat related, start at the engine and work your way out from there. This was the case with my daughters 125. When hers got warmed up it had a tendancy to run backwards. I also found a tendancy for water to collect behind the stator cover which may have caused its failure. I think it got in during pressure washing. Now I always remove the cover after washing and let the stator air dry before replacing the cover. drop5
sounds like the stator. but talk to Lampkins, they may send you a stator and a coil and you can return what you dont use. or you could get the stator rewound which is cheaper, look in TMX. bog cog
thanks for all your reply,s i felt it mite have been the stater but are un shore of how to test it thanks again travis
dell
I had the exact same problem for a while. Then one day before an event i went to start the bike and there was no spark at all. First i checked the kill switch and changed the plug. Thought it was the coil then so checked it out. Was getting power to it but none after so i ordered a new one. Tried it and the same problem, Lampkins recommended a CDI unit so i got one and it started first kick and revs out perfect. I'm no expert on electrics but from what you're saying it's the very same problem i had. Cost about Edited October 28, 2006 by Dell

bog cog
lampkins sounds like a good bloke to deal with but im in australia so ive removed the stater coil voltage reg and cdi and will take them in to my local beta deal and have them tested and when i was removing the stater i noticed the timing gap from the edge off the screws and the end of the slot was about 15-17 mm not 2.2mm like stated on the other thread about timing a 270 is it possable its the timing just a thort im still going to have the electrics tested thow travis
