The Scottish Trials Scene.

I would like to say that I personally found the attack on Big John uncalled for and is really counter productive! It rings true with a post in another forum by Overthehill were he talks about hiding behind a pseudonym, taking pop-shots in the knowledge that no one knows who you are!

A few years ago John was particularly helpful with an SACU/ACU licensing issue I had, with out his help I'm sure it would have been harder to resolve. John's comments seemed to me to be 'light entertainment'; I therefore read them as such, with a smile on my face! Shame others can't enjoy what was posted as general chit chat without feeling the need to go for the jugular!

Having been a lurker for a long time I feel so strongly about recent comments that it is time to speak out.

What Scottish trials needs is a respected Trials Committee who are fully aware about whats happening on the trials scene in Scotland. A committee who will push trials as much as the MX committee have pushed MX. If that means trying to find sponsors then so be it.

If Big John is who I think he is, I would have expected him to make salient and constructive comment. By swinging his SACU badge about, he should expect people to ask direct questions and who in turn expect direct answers. In the Youth forum he is seen bitching about motorhomes. In this topic, congratulating the Perth club for a running a great trial and commenting on the riders taking part would have been much more benificial to his status than blowing on about him, his dad and when he was a boy. Trials in Scotland is about MORE, MUCH MORE than Big John. Your knowledge of trials past is unequalled but the same can't be said about you knowledge about the here and now.

John Collins ALWAYS gives true, clear and unbiased advice. Stick to that idea Big John and you'll gain far more respect.

Another **** comes out of the closet. Lets see now, Andy kinda frowns on personal attacks but with luck he'll let this ride long enough for everyone to see it.

Where does a nameless, faceless, wonder like yourself get off on a post like that, does it give you a buzz ripping into people, when obviously you are someone who's more of the sit back, relax and let others do the work type.

Every individual who puts their head above the parapet in life understands that someone will try to shoot it off at some point but the individuals who take the responsibility of organising the infrastructure behind our sport should be respected if for nothing more than the time they devote to make it work. Your attack was needless and totally unfair, been excluded from any events by the SACU Steward recently??? Perhaps a little more knowledge of the person in question might be advised.

If you are so hacked off at the way John and the SACU conduct themselves around our sport then stand up and do something about it. I've known John Moffat all my life and there are few others like him in Scotland that are so dedicated to trials that they devote their lives to it, Mark Witham(SSDT), Andy Grieg(TC), Archie Shedden (SACU Chair) to name a couple more. I know how much of their lives people dedicate to the sport because I do the same in other areas. I also know how painful the cheapshots can be.

John, keep doing what you do because with out you and others like you we wouldn't have our sport at all.

excuse this southern fairy from butting in but in our large (population) but small (geographically) centre we can't get riders from one end to ride at the other! so in a place as large a Scotland don't be surprised if someone doesn't want to travel to far.
