springer
Can anyone advise on starting a 2002 Montesa when cold. Having not started it for a couple of weeks it takes around 20 to 30 kicks if I'm lucky. Once its warm then starting is okay. I have checked the plug which seems okay, and yes it's wet after all that effort. Ideas and comments please, has any one else had this problem? trialsurfer
When you shut the bike off for the day turn the petcock off and let it run most of the fuel out.
tesamon
Howdy, Had the same problem on a 03 that drove me nuts for 6 months. Take a finger tip full of grease and coat the brass choke rod with it. Try starting, if it fires right up, you have a brass dust coated "O" ring in the top of your choke housing. The brass rod scrapes against the steel washer that holds the "O" ring in place the shavings get traped between the "O" ring and the rod and will not pull fuel out of the float chamber. springer
Thanks, It worked! One cotton bud of grease (fingers to large), and it fired up on third kick, I'll now strip the carb down for a clean. Rgds Andrew
