mick annick
Couldn't make as I was away in France, but has anyone got any photos? My Ossa MAR MKII was on Dave Renham's stand.
woody
So it was yours then - very nice. Mr Renham had to peel me off it. Told him it was about time he had some class on that stand.... Loved the original ally guards and stays. Been looking for some of them for years. Show overall was poorly represented again for trials. Only one dealer (I think) in <mention of this company is not permitted on Trials Central>. GasGas and Beta had stands, Scorpa had their full range on the D3 stand (SY175 looks nice in yellow) Sherco weren't there. Honda didn't have a 4RT on their stand, Kawasaki have 2 new enduro bikes just released but didn't have them, Honda only had one of theirs. No Husaberg, no Husqvarna stands. As usual, if you're into motocross and motocross gear (bloody loads of it) you were catered for Roll on the Classic dirt bike show

sutty
concidering this is a show torepresent all aspects of the sport trials wasnt on the agenda there were only 3 stands <mention of this company is not permitted on Trials Central> ,gasgas ,john lampkin who was as usual very helpful but he was squeezed into a corner shame and a few classic stands which were good but overall the show was as usual dominated by motorcross something shoud be done about this malcom rathmell had a stand and no bikes !!! what was that all about roll on the classic bike show loads of goodies and goood bikes and plenty of autojumble bits well done alan wright
mick annick
Woody Sorry I'm a bit slow... There'd have been even more original bits on it if I'd had a bit more notice the it was wanted - got the headlamp & speedo, steering lock keys, original invoice from Dave Bickers, handbook... You and I exchanged info on here when I first bought it and started the resto, not that it needed much, it had a genuine 400km's on the clock when I got it. woody
To be honest, I'm not hellbent on the originality issue. It's nice to see original bikes at shows and the like, but for me, your bike is how I would have mine - ready to trial in trials trim, not a big fan of lights and other road gear on trials bikes. Just can't believe you found one for sale still with the original ally guards in such good nick. Mine lasted one outing on my first MAR due to having to answer the question - does it wheelie mate? Used to fit VF guards after that as although they broke if you so much as touched them, they only cost about
mick annick
Woody I'm with you on the originality bit - the reason I've got all the bits still is 'cos they all got chucked in the back of the garage when I bought it to go trialling and fitted SM alloy guards as I used in the seventies, though I'm using plastics now. I don't ride it as often as I'd like but am going to try and get out more next year. I really was taken aback when I got it, about five years ago, it really had hadly been used - the owner was an engineer at Ford's research place in Dunton, Essex and only used it occasionally to potter round the woods on. This bike was registered the same week as the one I had in the seventies and used to ride to work on every day, and ride to and from trials at the weekend until I passed my test and got an Escort van... woody
So the alloy guards that are fitted in the picture (as fitted at the show) - are they guards that you bought from Miller then? They looked as though they were the original Ossa guards to me as the front still has the original Ossa stays. If they are Miller guards, they are very close to the original type in appearance in which case I may get some for mine. From what I've seen of the Miller alloy guards, or most aftermarket ones, they were never as nice a shape as the Ossa ones, always had too round a profile, whereas those fitted to your bike are a lot flatter, like the originals. mick annick
Woody The guards you saw on the machine are the originals - I took them off and fitted Miller ones and stays, which as you say are much more rounded, though these got mashed so it now has plastic.
