kinell
Oor Dougie....Not nice to say but can he take the pressure? That used to be his stong point.Whenever the crowd got behind him he seemed to flap (contrary to what the commentators say), on the log section(in reverse)the 'tators wound the crowd up ,the crowd wound Dougie up and Dougie wound the 4RT up then..he got the 'yips' and hit the log tower way too soon/low for a 5. Dougie dropped his bike so much I am not surprised that it failed him later on. Is it because we expect so much that we are so disappointed ? Ok that's how I saw it so let's hear your corrections. I don't think he flapped at all, the bugger thrives on pressure and you can actually see the boost that the crowd give him when they cheer him on. I think we do expect Doug to win and it's a gutting feeling when he doesn't. I've no idea where you were sat in the arena but have you seen the up-close video's yet? I'm pretty sure that he was the only one to clean the logs/shed in reverse until the nose dive took him out. I thought his chain had snapped at the time, as the bike lunged forwards and then instant nothing. Too much power, not enough grip? I don't know the answer but it was the most committed ride of the night for me. The waterfall section was sickening to watch as I don't think anyone would have wanted a dab to the right from that position - Jim did well to catch the Mont though It was more or less over before the race with Fuji, very bad luck to have a footrest snap and not a lot he could do except bail off and try to save himself any injuries. All in all, I think that Doug rode his socks off early on - very impressive to see him dominate on the indoor sections against the spaniards and out psyche the likes of Raga & Co. In fact, have a look at the race between him and Raga, just as they are going up the second ramp, Doug's just in front, Raga ****s up and lands hard on the front wheel, his arms collapse and he nearly face plants the top yoke - Doug just sailed on by with his race face on, what pressure? crosser
Hi Guys, please keep the feedback coming, it is invaluble to us, we ARE taking all ideas on board and allready thinking of ways we can improve the event for next year, would just like to point out that commentating on a indoor trial for 3-4 hours and trying to keep everyone informed of what the hells going on aint easy, I know we may have repeated ourselves a few times but try to remember there is now a high percentage of general public attend Sheffield, we were just trying to make it as simple as possible so they could understand and keep the atmosphere as high as possible. ( looking back we may have overdone it!) A big thank-you to Andy for passing on all the feedback but please keep it coming. I believe you can never have enough. Tell us what you want ( or what will make you buy a ticket!!!) and we will try to deliver. happy new year crosser
ham2
Ok , I might be in dream land here but I would buy a ticket (raffle type..over and above the entrance fee) to ride one of the riders' bikes at the end of the show, this mini-spectacle could ease the mad rush to depart at the end. I realize this throws up all manner of problems..riding gear, insurance, liability, riders ability etc. It might be a nice little earner for the promoters or a charity. Pipe-dream?..yes..but the chance of making an ar5e of myself in front of 12,000 people is quite a buzz
