gasgasblue
While we are talking about the series. Looking at championship only 4 or 5 riders on average in each class really doing the whole series. I think it would be better to have four more central rounds i.e. Bemrose or Dave Rowland near Buxton and what about D K Mansell south of Birmingham. Fourteen rounds with best ten to count. Surely that would encourage riders to do more rounds. What do you Classic guys think?
nigel dabster
less rounds and only good ones would be better. Why has this series so many more rounds.
paioli
why so many rounds ? i am sure that if people did not ride the events, the clubs would not apply to run them as classics the following year, simple really ! fifteen rounds, three new rounds more central, sounds good to me ! tone
I was chatting to Mal Evely last night and he asked if they are single route trials i.e same for pre 65 and modern or do they have variations for modern bikes? gasgasblue
All the classic classes 'A' to 'E' do the same route. Some of the rounds do have a harder route which attracts the local experts. Going back to my point on the championship. My suggestion is to try and get more riders in the overall series. If we could ride the ten events from 15 rounds ( picking rounds closer to home ) I'm sure more riders would make the effort to do the whole series
barfy
I think that the Classic series is an excellent day out and I've been doing them regularly since 1999. Unfortunately, I missed many of them in 2006 due to work and then a illness, but I do hope to do more of them this year. I introduced a couple friends to the Tavastock trial (one that I did manage to do this year) and now they want to do them all during 2007. I'd describe one of them as and average intermediate. Best of all he likes the ride out with wide variety of sections, rather than just ten round a car park. He really likes the Bembrose and Dave Roland on the clubman course and is normally in the middle to bottom third of the field. I think that this year with having the two most northerly rounds and a couple of the southern rounds together is a brilliant idea. Coming from the south I find it just as frustrating as Dabseter, travelling four hours to Mansfield, having a silly five and knowing that you're not going to be able to pull back those marks is really frustrating. I only wish that they wouldn't put the Hillsbrough and Peek on consecutive weekends. Although both are excellent trials I really can't be bothered to do eight hours of travelling two weekends in a row. Even my friends, who got really keen to do the Classic trials, couldn't be bothered to do them both. Give it a go, I'm sure that you won't regret it...
