I've had some of Mark's CF protectors on my '06 2.9 for over 8 months now with no problems except other guys asking, 'wheredja gittem?' They're really quite thick, and the super-trick, ultra high-tech adhesive Mark supplies insures they stay where you put them.

A much cleaner look than the scuffed swingarm. To me, nothing makes a bike look 'old' faster than a scratched and scuffed swingarm (except a leaking, dented aluminum gas tank - ooohhhh...)

The best part is Mark says they're guaranteed to shave at least two points per loop.

To bhe honest, I don't like having to make them this way, but as the arm is beveled, that is the only flat surface to work with.

It will still do its job in keeping the boot marks off, but I may have to make some to match and replace those factory stickers which are useless! :banana2:

mark, can you make some which go the full length of the 06 swingarm with the logo? i had the other shorter ones from you a while ago and there still on my mates bike no probs but i would like some longer ones for mine i have some trick-bits.com ones at the moment but they get full of crap and cause more damage than none at all! cheers mark

The standard ones for the Sherco and gassers are about 9 1/2 in or 240mm long, which serves their purpose which is to cover the boot scuffing area. The material is very tough and abraison resistant grade 'A' CF.

I can easily do a longer one for the Sherco at 300mm, but materals costs increase with little benefit in performance as they are not really for bashing rocks. Of course one that has been bashed by a rock may be better than a swingarm that has been bashed by a rock. Abrasion resistance and impact resistance are two different things. Even longer means greater costs. The ones on the "07 I am working on are about 350mm, but being of less width, the material cost is about the same as 300mm full width.

I have been using the 0.5 mm material on the later ones(as compared to 1.0mm), same abrasion resistance, lighter weight, and conforms better to the swingarm irregularities.

The 5mil 3M adhesive works well on the full width '06 and prior models as there is plenty of surface area.

The '07 is a bit of a challenge as there is less surface area in the critical "boot rub" area, but the plus is that the rough factory finish provides more mechanical "grip" for the adhesive to work. It is the same basic stuff which holds the graphics on the mudguards, which have no grip at all on the plastic, yet they seldome move, even in the worst impact!
