skid Posted January 14, 2007 Report Share Posted January 14, 2007 Woods rider, trials noob looking at an 04 rev 3 200. to play with. $3100 w/fresh rear tire. It's got the off throttle knock which i've read up on. carb modded with the drilling thing and so it don't pee. appears to be in good shape. Motor seems kinda wimpy, not a whole lot of juice there when you twist it. Sounds a little funny off throttle, runs on a bit, might just be the way it is? I'm used to that 2t dirtbike meaty braaaap. Who knows maybe a de carbon and some jetting and I'll be smiling. wimpy or not 200 might be good to learn on. Not a lot of bikes in this neck of the woods. this one is twenty minutes away, vs. 3 hours one way! hmmm what to do?? I'd feel a little better if the carberation seemed better Venturing into the unkown with your own hard cold cash sucks!!! what to do ....... copemech Posted January 14, 2007 Report Share Posted January 14, 2007 They are generally a great bike, very smooth yet has good torque and good for a beginner up to whatever! You may have to set the carb as you said! And it can be modded up a bit for more power! I gather you are in the US?$$$$$$ Good ones are scarce! malibudon Posted January 14, 2007 Report Share Posted January 14, 2007 Skid, the 200 doesn't have the meaty throttle response of your woods bike because, well, it's not a woods bike! The Beta 200's motor will serve you better in trials. Your woods bike's motor will serve you better on trails. It's hard to advise about the carburetion from here. Do you know a trials rider who can go along with you and give you a better idea as to whether or not the bike is running right, or you just have an unreasonable (for the bike) expectation? scorpa3 Posted January 14, 2007 Report Share Posted January 14, 2007 The lad ran an '04 200 four a couple of years, that's him in the pic to the left. I had no trouble at all from it unlike the '04 250 I had at the time, 200's run a different electrical system which (for me) was far more reliable. You say your bike doesn't have a whole lot of juice when you rev it. This could mean that there is something wrong with the bike, without being there it's hard to guess, but what I would say is my 200 always had enough power for everything it was asked to do. And it always did it with less fuss than my 250... especially if grib was an issue! As a beginner the 200 is ideal. If you can find an event where there is lots of mud it will excell. The cold and snow is due to arrive tonight. Probably be snowed in until mid april now!! Oh well at least i'll get some use out of my snowmobile!! Cheers Harley Davidson Electra Glide with Cruise control and a stereo!!! I gotta look into putting a hitch on the HD. Then I can tow the trials bike instead of using the pick up!!!
