brian r
Does anyone have it and will it save files as a .cdr?
Andy
I use it, but stuck with version 7 as it does everything I want/need. I found later versions very resource hungry. Version 7 doesn't, but given that CDR files are Corel Draw and Corel now owns Paintshop Pro, I'd be very surprised if it didn't.
dabnabit
From Corels knowledge base. "Paint Shop Pro 7 has added new support for Corel CDR files. Paint Shop Pro now supports CDR versions 5-9. Paint Shop Pro does not support the Clip Art files supplied with Corel Programs. Typically if you open these files as an image within Corel Draw, then resave it as a Corel Draw image (CDR), the file should open fine with Paint Shop Pro." It won't save to .cdr but can convert to jpeg's. I have Corel PSP Xl now and it runs great. Althougth on my new Video Editing work station, everything is fast. copemech
WTF is THAT? In a simpler question, what do I need to do to get all my old(family) tapes, and mini DV up to a Keepable standard? Should I just buy a DVD recorder for the video system? Or upgrade the computer? Is DVD here to stay, and which recording format is best? + - i do not get it. dabnabit
WTF is THAT? I just grouped 12 ECM'S from 1980 Chevettes and hooked them all together. In a simpler question, what do I need to do to get all my old(family) tapes, and mini DV up to a Keepable standard?Should I just buy a DVD recorder for the video system? Or upgrade the computer? Is DVD here to stay, and which recording format is best? + - i do not get it. I would suggest a DVD recorder for simple transfer if you don't want to do any editing. I use this to record TV shows Panasonic DMR-ES20 and it works well. A little bit of a learning curve. Lots of buttons. For the mini DV you'll have to hook the camcorder to the recorder via firewire ( IEEE 1394 same thing) or composite cables. DVD- is more compatable but most new players play everthing (ie: DVD - +, DVD RAM, JPEG Photos). You can still buy a turntable! DVD'S will be around just don't write on it with a magic marker, ink pen, crayon, paint brush, engraver or a sharpie, get a marker made for CD, DVD's (water based). Here's a site with a player compatabilty list. >>> What computer, type, brand do you have? Edited January 23, 2007 by Dabnabit

Do you find the Kingston RAM ok ? had some problems with it myself. Not familiar with the ATI X1900 256 PCIE Dual Head. We use Nvidia Quadro FX4500 I run Inventor 11 3D CAD and it copes ok - quite impressive actually Are you going to VISTA when it comes out? I understand the OS handles memory in a way that XP will never do Which is important to us as we run in excess of 4gb frequently

copemech
Dabnabit, To be honest, I don't even remember what my good computer has????? It's about a two year old midline Dell running XP home, with a CD burner, it has S-T-E-R-E-O!!!!!! The old 766 in the shed has recieved enough memory upgrade to run the XP too and works pretty good for stuff like this! The FIOS wireless high speed setup is the latest addition at home, works good after being on dialup for over a decade!! Then I have several computers at work that I have to maintain running 2000. Firewire! I like that thought, may have to track down one of those Panasonic things and use my Circuit City giftcard!
dabnabit
766 and XP Usually not a good combo. Thanks for signing up for FIOS.................I work for Verizon!
copemech
Oh yea , Dab, I remembered to ck this one, it is the 1.4gig,P4! Wow! Has some sort of wierd memory, so I had to but some used ones off ebay to get up to 256 and run the XP! Happened by the CCity today to buy the Tax software for the year, still eyeing a cheap laptop as they are getting more affordable, most with wide screens too, and ALL running Vista since the release! Basic or Pro versions, not sure the difference. Which brings me full circle, bought this old box just after the release of ME in hopes of getting a more stable platform,------NOT! Not cheap in it's day either! Of course they are all less expensive now as compared to my first 12mhz box ! Time flys, and so do junky computers! Wanted a flat wide monitor too for Christmas but my old reliable trinitron just will not die! I think it still looks better than some of the cheap LCD's. Wait, the prices will go down and the quality up! Oh well!
