tljm
Anybody knows if it is possible to convert one TY125 to 175 using a DT175 cylinder. Does it fit to the TY?
scottt
Not sure about that but the TY175 barrel just bolts straight on, Scott.
mattylad
I cannot be certin for all model years but I have a DT 175 engine where very little fits the TY even the head does not fit so I doubt the barrel will However a DT 250 does dirrectly on a TY 250 and makes it feel much more modern!! feetupfun
DT175s from 1978 onwards have a different stud layout than the TY175. So some DT175 barrels are interchangable with TY175 barrels and some are not. The TY175 motor is based on the 1974 DT175A so the A, B C and D model DT175 barrels should fit. I know the question was about the TY125 but I've never worked on one of them. Why would you want to fit a DT barrel to a TY motor anyway? Is the DT barrel better in some way than a TY175 barrel? paulthistle
The DT ports are larger and timed differently. It is designed for a higher in the rpm peak torque.
tljm
Hi Feetupfun, The reason of the topic it is not because the DT barrel is better than the TY. I wish to convert a TY125 to 175 but I do not find TY 175 barrel and I found some "old" DT barrel. So it colud be a solution if the DT fits. Anyway if anybody knows where I can find a TY 175 cylinder it will be perfect. Thank you.
