2004 Sherco 290

Hi,

Now the proud owner of the above. Just a few quick questions - on the Sherco website the only manual download is for 2003 - are the specs the same re: gearbox oil amount etc?

The lad ran the bike with a mixture of 70:1 with fully synthetic. Any comments on the mixture ratio etc?

He hasn't done the fuel filter mod as recommended by the site but has retarded the timing and fitted a slow response throttle. Do I need to sort out the fuel filter as recommended - he's had no-problems?

Torque settings - done a search and can't find them anywhere (especially axle's, forks, and handlebar mounts). What's everyone else using? Can I use the torque specs for another make of trials bike? - I'm sure Gas Gas or Scorpa listed theirs somewhere.

Cheers,

has the torque settings on the early pages.

I recently got an 03 and this is the site I found most of the manuals I needed, lots of good info.

I haven't seen anything on suspension setup though. I need to do some searching.

The manual lists 80:1 premix.

Mine's a 2004 Sherco - had it since new, over 3 years now. Don't want to sell it in case the next one isn't as reliable.

I use around 75:1 full synthetic.

Is the fuel filter mod the cutting of the plastic pipe inside the tank? If it is, I checked mine when I got it and it was already done - I think the VERY early 2004 ones had problems. Mine was November 2003 and already fixed.

Can't help with the torque settings - I just nip 'em up. Maybe I should know.

Not many things I can think of to watch - I drop my float bowl off after every trial, and clean out airbox/filter. Gearbox oil (450ml same as 03 ) every 6 or 8 trials - (some say more often but been fine).

Watch when tightening the hex screws on airbox - they can strip out eventually.

Standard footpegs can be a bit crap.

Thin version of kickstart can be a bit weaker - I managed to snap mine eventually a few weeks ago.

I did get a paper manual with mine, but I don't think I saw an electronic version. Very much the same as 03 anyway. Loads of stuff online. If you're after anything in particular reply and I'll have a look - I've downloaded most stuff I've ever seen and saved in a folder.
