neoman23
Hi folks, am looking to build a project bantam trials from an old D7 I have, but I am a beginner and dont really know where to start. Can anyone help with the following. Forks: What can I do to the originals to make them viable. Dont really want to get too far from original. Wheels: I am pretty sure I want to run a 21" at the front, will I have to get one built. Exhaust: are there any out there to buy, will another make fit or is it a build it job. Engine: any tricks on the engine. Hope someone can help or point me in the direction of someone who can. By the way, some great bikes shown on the site, if you've got photos to give me something to aim at that would be great. Dont want much eh!!!!!! totalshell
The Bantam is the coming bike in pre 65 right now the four speed d14 is the ideal starting point alloy wheels (21 inch front and 18 inch rear) are regulaers on ebay the exhausts question is probably the most difficult to answer there are a couple of specialist bantam dealers out there who will sell you something used why not try someone like Armours who do exhaust for classic bikes they might have something 'in stock ready to go' as for the forks put on a pair that work and take it from there what can a 'standardish' Bantam do? ask Jill driifield who tied for overall victory at yeasterdays Yorkshire Classic Trial only losing out on the oldest rider rule.. neoman23
Thanks totalshell, very helpful, but whats the rule regarding pre 65. If you fit a D14 engine wont that be later the 65?, Is that allowed. Just how standard do they have to be? Are you saying the D7 engine is U S for the purpose, or just that the four speed would be better. Can i beef up the forks any way. I am gonna fit rear shocks from NJB. I would like to put double tube set up under the engine, and bash plate, will this weaken it too much? Anyone out there with photos of their own banatams ? Thanks for the help, maybe in the not too distant future I can post my own photos. Steve

Why do they need all that ? Dont like to give out too much info if possible. PS there is a nice Bantam on the home page. alan_nc
Group, Well here's the Bantam I'm using in Vintage Trials in the US. '59 D7. Engine is stock, everything completely rebuilt. I have a cub rear wheel coming (so I can go to an 18"), and am working on the Yamaha front end for a 21" front. alan_nc
Group, Can someone tell me what you are using for a back wheel on your Bantams? I was told that a Triumph Cub wheel is a bolt on - is this true? Since you can only buy 'real' trials tires in 18" and 21" I need to get rid of the stock 19" wheels on mine. Can someone tell me what is the easiest 'bolt on' front end? Thanks Alan
brian r
Hey Bo Drinker, I think the Twinshock forums are a generic forum set up. They (we) aren't going to bug anyone with phone calls. There might be an e mail from time to time letting you know about new things on the sight.
